Barcelona to Calella de Palafrugell
There's something about Spain we can't quite get enough of. Whether you've yet to have the pleasure or not, this tour showcases one of the most beautiful regions in all of Spain: Catalonia. From its rich cultural heritage to unique identity, from the patterns of luxurious Moorish architecture to the golden sands of the Costa Brava, your memories of exploring Catalonia will be your most treasured souvenirs from this adventure.
Calella de Palafrugell
We depart the city of Barcelona and travel to our first stop: the old fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell. It's the definition of a beautiful coastal town, with lovely beaches, shimmering water, rocky coves, and rows of white shorefront houses. The scent of freshly cooked fish and sea air lingers in the air. It's a vacation dream destination, a perfect way to start our trip.
Pals
After a short drive we arrive in our next destination: the medieval town of Pals. Located in the North of Catalonia, with Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque architecture all found in one neat little package, this walled town has a pristine beach, a Gothic quarter with cobbled streets, and even aristocratic houses. It's a marvel to wander, and make sure to carve out some time for lunch here as well. And Catalan cuisine is not to be missed, trust us. Perhaps you'll try some Escalivada, traditionally prepared in the embers of a wood fire; or perhaps some Canelons de carn (cannelloni stuffed with meat) is more up your alley.
Free evening in Girona
Our final stop of the day is Girona, a delightful and colourful town packed with ancient ruins, museums, a Jewish Quarter, a cathedral, and of course... delicious local cuisine waiting to be devoured. And since Girona is our overnight stop on this tour, there's plenty of time to explore both the area and your palate both this afternoon and this evening, meaning there's no rush to soak up the cobbled streets of this beautiful and culture-packed destination.

Figueres
Countryside and Coastline to Cadaqués
We're up and out this morning as we have plenty of Catalonia to explore. We journey through the Catalonian countryside, passing fertile plains dotted with vineyards, olive groves, and charming villages all around you. As you approach our first destination of the day, the landscape transforms into something rather enchanting, with pine forests and panoramic Mediterranean views making postcard-perfect views.
Cadaqués
We arrive in the charming coastal town of Cadaqués. Oh, but it's so much more than that. Nestled along the edge of the Mediterranean Sea, this picturesque and unspoilt coastal setting has a strong connection to surrealist artist Salvador Dalí and his influence can be seen in the community that thrives here. Art lover or not, you'll adore the artistic and Bohemian atmosphere of Cadaqués.
Figueres and Besalu
We then head to the town of Figueres, where Dalí was born. You have time to check out Rambla, the Dalí theatre and museum, or the castle. Perhaps you'll be drawn to wandering the streets, soaking up the beautiful views and perhaps even munching on some local cuisine – which is perfect, since this is our lunchtime stop. Our final stop is the charming medieval town of Besalú. With history dating back to the Roman period, as well as a strong medieval flourish, Besalú is a captivating destination for those who visit. Perhaps you'll wander the narrow alleyways of the Jewish quarter or explore the castle that perches on a hill overlooking the town, imagining yourself as ruler.
Free evening in Girona
You'll be glad to be back in Girona tonight, giving you another opportunity to soak up the culture and passion of this colourful town. Affectionately known as the "city of four rivers", you might be inclined to wander and see where the Ter, Güell, Galligants and Oñar rivers flow through it. And Game of Thrones fans will be thrilled to wander the streets, and you may recognise scenes from King's Landing and Bravos that were filmed in Girona's streets.

Montserrat
Girona to Montserrat
We'll begin our journey back towards Barcelona today but not before making a few memorable stops. We head back down south through the ever-changing Spanish landscape, entering the Montserrat Natural Park. This protected area in Catalonia is home to a unique, rocky landscape with sharp peaks and crests; a plethora of charming villages with architectural and historical interest; and, most famously of all, our first stop for the day: Montserrat Monastery.
Montserrat
This is one way to start your morning: ascending to the top of a striking rocky mountain range to visit a surreal and impressive monastery... sounds like a dream, doesn't it? Surrounded as you are by otherworldly peaks, you won't know what to explore first – the Benedictine monastery at Montserrat Abbey or the walks surrounding it. Montserrat is more than just a natural wonder; it's a spiritual and cultural destination too. From pilgrims to tourists, and even locals, the religious importance of this centre of worship cannot be denied.
Penedes winery
It's then time for another idyllic Catalonian scenic drive through the Peñedes wine route on our way to Cava Wine for an included tour and tasting. You're welcome. The region of Peñedes is best known for its Cava, or the ‘sparkling wine of Spain', but it also produces a range of distinguished dry red and whites, not to mention some rather interesting dessert wines. Which will you treat yourself to today?
Sitges and Barcelona
It's nearly time to wrap up but we can't let you go without one more ‘wow' moment and that moment is known at Sitges. As vibrant as your coastal towns can get, Sitges is bursting with a lively and welcoming atmosphere. Restaurants, cafes, nightclubs and bars sit across from a stunning sea view. Art galleries, museums and cultural events keep locals and visitors alike busy and entertained. This cool little beach town is the perfect way to end our tour before heading back to Barcelona.
