You’re standing in a dramatic glen, a shimmering loch at your feet, with a historic monument on one side and an elegant viaduct on the other. Suddenly, a puff of smoke appears on the horizon - a black steam train glides into view, and for a moment, it feels like you’re in a movie, ready to board the Hogwarts Express. This is the magic of the Scottish Highlands, where every glen and loch whispers a story. From historic monuments to the legends that shaped the landscape of Glencoe, and even the cinematic scenes that have captured our hearts, this tour of the Scottish Highlands promises to leave you utterly spellbound.

Stretching across the Highlands like a scene from a storybook, the misty waters and towering mountains of Loch Shiel appeared in a Harry Potter movie.

Feel the magic come alive at the Glenfinnan Viaduct, the world-famous railway bridge featured in the Harry Potter films.

Raising above Loch Shiel, it marks the spot where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his standard in 1745, igniting a dream of reclaiming the throne.

Be moved by the sheer beauty and tragic tales of one of Scotland’s most famous landscapes.

Admire the unforgettable views of this epic expanse of untouched wilderness.

Stroll through the village streets of Pitlochry and enjoy warm local hospitality as you explore the charming shops and cafes.
Venture through Glencoe’s wild peaks to the cinematic arches of Glenfinnan Viaduct

Edinburgh to Callander
Leaving Edinburgh behind, we travel north, passing iconic landmarks such as Stirling Castle on our way into the Highlands. You’ll notice the landscape transform as we cross the Highland Boundary Line. The gentle Lowlands give way to the rugged, forested glens of the Trossachs National Park. This land of lochs and misty hills was once home to the famed outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor, whose legend still echoes through these glens.
There will be time for a wee break to stretch your legs in the charming town of Callander, before we continue the journey deeper into the Highlands.
Highlands & Glencoe
As we continue westward, the scenery becomes more dramatic as we navigate through the Highlands. Passing through the wild, open landscapes of Rannoch Moor, we arrive at Glencoe, one of Scotland's most iconic natural landscapes. Known for its dramatic, rugged slopes, this beautiful area has been featured in films and has many stories to tell. Your driver-guide will tell you about one of Scotland’s most tragic tales as you take in the breathtaking scenery.
Take a moment to capture a few photos of the stunning scenery before we head further north. Afterward, we’ll stop for a leisurely lunch in one of the picturesque local towns.
Glenfinnan Viaduct and journey back to Edinburgh
After lunch, we continue to Glenfinnan, a stunning glen nestled among mountains and overlooking Loch Shiel. It’s home to two icons – the Glenfinnan Monument and the Glenfinnan Viaduct, beloved by Harry Potter fans.
Here, you’ll have time to reflect on the Jacobite Uprising of 1745 and explore the monument. Keep an eye out for the Jacobite Steam Train, which occasionally puffs gracefully across the viaduct (operated by a third party and may not always appear).
Whether or not the train appears, this enchanting glen will leave you spellbound by the beauty of the Highlands. Back on the bus, you might find yourself dreaming of travelling to Hogwarts rather than heading back to Edinburgh.
You return to Edinburgh at approximately 7.30pm.

No - however there are luggage storage services and facilities in most of our departure cities. Read our guide on luggage storage.
The UK and Ireland's historic city centres are full of narrow streets and winding roads. So, to speed up your departure, we only pick up from our central meeting points. What's more is leaving the city using the most direct route also reduces the carbon footprint of our tours.
We don't recommend bringing your car into the centre of our departure cities. It can be hard to find parking, and there are excellent public transportation services.
Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. Due to waiting restrictions, we can't wait for you if you're late.
Entry requirements vary depending on your nationality, personal circumstances, and the country or countries you will travel to and transit through. It is your responsibility to ensure you have all relevant documentation required for your selected itinerary and that you meet all formal entry requirements before travelling.
You can find up-to-date and reliable information on the official tourism website of the counties you’re visiting, or from their embassy or consulate.

It's simple: you book, you go. This means we'll never cancel your tour because of a minimum numbers policy.
Due to logistical reasons, we're unable to let you pre-book a seat on the bus. But our comfortable 16-seat mini-coaches have huge windows. So, you'll always get a good view.
We like to keep our coaches small and nimble. This means we have no on-board toilet facilities, but you frequently stop in local towns and villages for comfort breaks.
We regret we don't carry children under the age of five on our scheduled tours. Also, some of our tours that focus on whisky experiences are suitable for travellers aged 18+.
You can ask us about the tours we recommend for younger children. And if your child is less than 1.35m tall, you should let us know, so we can provide them with a suitable booster seat.
We want you to enjoy every country you visit with us. And we believe the best way to do this is to get you off the mini-coach and out exploring. So, we give you plenty of time to take photos, go walking, and explore ancient ruins.
We exclude visitor attractions in your tour price because it lets you travel your way. It means you can pamper yourself with a luxury lunch or skip an attraction whenever you feel like it.
You don't need to. We stop in small towns, villages, and rural eateries where you can choose whatever meal pleases both your taste buds and your budget.
Let's be honest, our driver-guides would never refuse a cheeky bonus. But it's up to you, and the amount is entirely at your discretion.
We advise you take out travel insurance.
