Rabbies Accommodation Information

Important Information about your Accommodation on Tour

Your tour does not include accommodation in the price. By giving you a choice of accommodation it allows you to manage your budget. We stay in smaller places where you will feel closer to the local people. This also means you help to sustain the communities you visit in the long term. Choose from either a hotel, B&B or a hostel and we will book it for you. We will always do our very best to satisfy your personal requirements and have an amazing track record for providing our customers with the best quality accommodation available. We do advise that single supplements usually apply, particularly during peak season when double/twin room rates are charged for sole occupancy .Please note that whilst Rabbie’s will try and place single travellers into the same accommodation, this may not be possible due to availability and the time of each individual reservation.

The accommodation we use will be dispersed around various towns and villages, usually not more than a 10-15 minute walk from the centre. There are occasions however when this can be increased to 20-30 minutes. Taxis are available for a small fee if necessary. If you have access needs or specific requirements please let us know when booking. Late bookings and/or peak season may limit the choice and location of available accommodation.

Whilst on tour your driver/guide will drop you off at your pre booked accommodation* and pick you up each morning.

*Please note that if your accommodation has already been booked by Rabbie’s, as per your initial request, there will be a surcharge for any amendments, and are entirely at our discretion. Changes to accommodation cannot be guaranteed and are subject to availability. A minimum of £5.00 will apply increasing to a maximum of £20.00 dependent on the length of the tour.

Please be prepared to pay cash. Most bed and breakfast, hostels and guest houses do not accept credit cards. In most large towns automatic cash point machines are readily available.

Customers are able to book their own accommodation as long as we have been informed that you intend to do this, and that it is within our drivers’ drop off’ area. If you are at all unsure please contact the office for guidance.

We are unable to supply a list of providers that we use due to availability at the time of booking. We do visit our providers regularly and are proud of the long standing relationships we have with them and positive feedback from previous customers.

Full Itinerary

Day 1 Depart Edinburgh at 08.30 and travel west passing Linlithgow Palace and Stirling with its imposing castle and views of the Wallace Monument. You pass Doune Castle, set of Monty Python's "Holy Grail" before stopping in Callander for refreshments. Crossing into the Highlands you head north towards the glorious scenery surrounding Loch Luibnaig then through Breadalbane (meaning the ‘high country of Scotland’) and up to the wild desolation of Rannoch Moor. You continue through the spectacular mountain pass of Glencoe, scene of the great massacre of the Clan Macdonald in 1692. Leaving Fort William after lunch you drive past Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, and into the Great Glen. Travelling west on the "Road to the Isles" you head through the splendour of the Five Sisters of Kintail, the mountains guarding the pass on the way to the Isle of Skye. You stop to visit the famous Eilean Donan Castle, one of Scotland’s most photographed castles, set at the junction of 3 lochs and completely surrounded by water. Crossing over the bridge to Skye, you follow the dramatic coastline north towards the island’s capital, Portree. You are then dropped off at your accommodation in the early evening where you are free to go out and explore the town.

Day 2
is a very flexible day on Skye. There are many possibilities depending on the weather; and your driver/guide's knowledge will help you have the best day out for you on that particular day. North of Portree is the Trotternish ridge with its spectacular cliffs and rock formations, such as the famous landmark – the Old Man of Storr, the impressive sea cliff, Kilt Rock and the stunning mountain pass of the Quiraing. Amazing natural scenery, which is best enjoyed away from the bus by taking a walk through this unique landscape. Further west the scenery changes again with the emerald green valley of Glendale, the dramatic sea-cliffs of Neist Point (the most westerly point on the island, where you might get lucky and spot some whales or sharks!), and the 13th-century home of the Clan Macleod, Dunvegan Castle. You return to Portree in the evening.

Day 3
You will be collected from your accommodation and travel south through the Cuillin Hills and back over to the mainland for stunning views over Loch Duich and the 5 Sisters of Kintail. Onto Loch Ness for lunch and the possibility of spotting "Nessie"! Heading south now through the Grampian mountains along Loch Laggan, famous now as "Monarch of the Glen Country" before passing Dalwhinnie, home to Scotland's highest whisky Distillery, and onwards past Blair Castle. We stop for refreshments in one of the Perthshire villages before heading back to Edinburgh past Perth and over the Forth Road Bridge. Arriving at 19.00 approx.

Reviews & Photos

At this time of year, I always review the most memorable travel experience I’ve had. First on my list of memorable experiences for 2016 is the “Isle of Skye Highlands 3 Day Tour.” This tour, because of our guide, Grant Scott, was a lot of fun and informative. Grant’s relaxed manner, enthusiastic personality, wonderful sense of humor created the perfect atmosphere while taking in the breathtaking beauty of the Isle of Skye, the Highlands, Munros, Lochs and so much more. He was attentive, filled the time with hilarious travel stories, folklore, to recounting the background of clans and battles, played beautiful Scottish music, and gave us an overview of the historical significance of every place we visited, relative to its effect on Scotland today. I will take more Rabbie’s tours because of him. There are also other reasons to choose a Rabbie’s tour. 1. I booked this tour through Viator, also an excellent company, however, contacted Rabbies for other inquiries. I found them easy to reach, friendly, and they answered all my travel questions. 2. Many times, you can choose to start a tour from either Edinburgh or Glasgow. 3. The Mercedes buses are a dream - comfortable and have charging stations for your technology. 4. Many options for hotel or B B accommodations. I booked my hotel through Viator, but see that Rabbies also has recommendations, which I will consider in the future. 5. Rabbies has an extensive list of tours. 6. You get a detailed itinerary in advance and know how to prepare for each day. 7. Most importantly, for me, is that the tour groups are small. I’m returning to Scotland this summer and will book more Rabbie’s tours. I am looking forward to the next adventure with them!

The beauty and majesty of Scotland has overwhelmed me. I was somewhat infatuated with the country because of fiction and tv shows, but upon arriving to Scotland, the country far exceeded my exceptions. It was official I was in love. This feeling would not have been as pronounced as it is today, if not for the workers at Rabbies. I did two tours with them, but the Isle of Skye tour was simply incredible. The landscape was enthralling, the views awe-inspiring. The history of each place we visited was a story worth writing, and the people there have convinced me that there is no place else like Scotland. Our driver was Catty and she knew so much about the area. You could see how passionate she was about the country she made sure to show us the most beautiful of places, and sought out to make us feel as comfortable as possible. Despite the weather being quite wet, Skye was no less magical. In conclusion, I can only end this post by saying thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU! Not only for making this the trip of a lifetime, but for making Scotland feel like a place better than home.

Wow! Our tour was 9/7 - 9/9 2016. We had the best tour Guide - Dave - who I would request be our guide on the next tour we take with rabbies! Dave showed us the best sights and scenes, shared facts and folklore and even though the weather could be a little uncooperative, made sure we all were have a great time. I highly recommend the Isle of Skye tour. You will not be disappointed! BRAVO to rabbies and Dave!!

Being a world traveler, I cant say enough about how great my three day Isle of Skye tour with our guide Alex was. Except for the midges (which I dont think Alex could do anything about - ) it was all-around great. Also, I want to give a shout-out to the owners of my accommodation in Portree. Murdo and Angus at Woodpark Guest House were fantastic. I would highly recommend Rabbies as the go-to guide service in Scotland - youre the best!

I came to Scotland with very little knowledge of the destination or expectations for the journey. After having the Rabbie’s Tour Company recommended to me, I decided to book the 3-day Isle of Skye tour. Grant was our guide for the experience, and allowed our full group of 16 people decide what we wanted to see and how long we wanted to experience certain destinations. Not only did Grant offer us numerous riveting facts and stories, but he calculated our way from Edinburgh to Skye with total efficiency in mind. Grant was kind, knowledgeable, and filled with magnet passion for Scotland and the places that tell it’s story. He treated every guest as a long-known friend, allowing the feelings of happiness and comfortability carry the group for the three short days. Even considering where the sun would be for our photo opportunities is a simple example of how much care Grant exuded into where he took us and when. I could write pages about our guide, but I will encompass my impression of him in one word: Ideal. After seeing Grant interact with several of his coworkers when visiting sites, you could see the same joy and passion in the entire Rabbie’s Tour team. I have walked away from this tour filled with the overwhelming sensations of peace and contentment, yet also exuberant passion for Scotland as well. The price of the tour was reasonable: mainly covering the hotel/bb accommodations, guide, and transportation. In three days we were able to experience numerous iconic destination that you are given when reading guidebooks on Scotland. Some include: Loch Ness, Quiraing, Neist Point, Kilt Rock, and Eilean Donan Castle. I highly recommend using this company for any UK tour experience. Cheers! Thank you for the memories!
