What can you do on a Scotland tour from Aviemore?

From Aviemore, our Whisky of Speyside day tour takes you into the northeast of Scotland that produces some of the world's most celebrated single malt Scotch whiskies. You'll stop at Cairn Distillery, a modern distillery bringing fresh ambition to the craft in the heart of the Cairngorms, before heading to Tomintoul, one of Scotland's highest villages. There, the Whisky Castle has been selling over 600 of Scotland's finest malts for more than 120 years, and throws in a tutored tasting to help you find your favourites. Then it's back through the dramatic braes of Glenlivet

Is Aviemore a good base for exploring Scotland?

Yes! Aviemore sits roughly in the middle of Scotland, which means the Highlands are right on your doorstep. The Cairngorms National Park wraps around the town to the east and south, while Inverness, the Highland capital,  is only about 45 minutes north. From Aviemore, you're within reach of Loch Ness, the Speyside whisky trail, and some of Scotland's most dramatic mountain scenery.

Can I see more of Scotland from Aviemore?

Aviemore is a great hub. Beyond our Speyside whisky tour, you're well placed to explore the Isle of Skye, Loch Ness from Inverness, and the wider Scottish Highlands independently or as part of a longer itinerary. If you're travelling further afield, tours also depart from Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Aberdeen.

What time does the Scotland tour from Aviemore depart and return?

The tour departs at 9.45 am from the Macdonald Highland Aviemore Resort on Grampian Road, Aviemore (PH22 1PN). You return to Aviemore at approximately 5.15 pm, giving you a full day out without rushing.

Absolutely. A good number of the people who join our tours are solo travellers, and the small group size means you're meeting a handful of like-minded people rather than being lost in a crowd. What should I wear on a tour from Aviemore? 

The Highlands are famously unpredictable. Layers are your friend. A waterproof jacket is essential year-round, and comfortable walking shoes are worth packing even if the tour doesn't involve strenuous hiking. In winter, Aviemore can see snow, which makes the Cairngorms look spectacular, just make sure you dress accordingly.
