Itinerary

Day 1

  • Learn about Scotland’s most important battles as we pass Stirling Castle
  • Admire the mountainous splendour of the Five Sisters of Kintail
  • Take an epic photo of the gorgeous Eileen Donan Castle
  • Wander around the cute seaside village of Portree

You depart Edinburgh and travel west. This part of your journey is a history lover’s dream. You pass Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument, and Doune Castle, before stopping in Callander for refreshments.

Next, we venture north through the splendid scenery surrounding Loch Luibnaig and up to the wild desolation of Rannoch Moor.

You continue through the spectacular mountain pass of Glencoe, scene of the great massacre of the Clan Macdonald in 1692. And after lunch we pass Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, and head into the Great Glen. Travelling west you head past the Five Sisters of Kintail.

You then stop at the famous Eilean Donan Castle, one of Scotland’s most photographed castles. Crossing over the bridge to Skye, you follow the dramatic coastline, towards the island’s capital, Portree. And after all this breath-taking beauty, you’re dropped off at your accommodation in the early evening with enough time to go out and explore the town.

Day 2

  • Explore the natural wonders of Skye
  • Enjoy spectacular sea views at Neist Point
  • Learn about the history of the Clan Macleod at Dunvagen Castle

Today is a flexible day on Skye. Your driver-guide will ensure you have the best day out no matter what the weather.

North of Portree is the Trotternish ridge with spectacular cliffs and rock formations, such as the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock and the stunning mountain pass of the Quiraing. Further west the scenery changes again with the emerald green valley of Glendale, the dramatic sea-cliffs of Neist Point (the most westerly point on the island, where you might get lucky and spot some whales or sharks!), and the 13th-century home of the Clan Macleod, Dunvegan Castle.

You return to Portree in the evening.

Day 3

  • Try and spot the Loch Ness Monster
  • Journey through the pine-clad region of Perthshire

You travel south through the Cuillin Hills and back over to the mainland for stunning views over Loch Duich and the five Sisters of Kintail.

You visit Loch Ness for lunch and the chance to spot "Nessie"! Heading south through the Grampian mountains along Loch Laggan, famous now as "Monarch of the Glen Country" before passing Dalwhinnie and onwards past Blair Castle.

We stop for refreshments in one of the Perthshire villages before heading past Perth, over the Forth Road Bridge, and back to Edinburgh.

We were on the 3day Tour to Skye Highlands departed on Aug 13th with Peter Party as a driver. We had a fantastic time and enjoyed the tour, the other guests and our host-guide Peter, who provided us a super service and gave us a lot of historical info for inspiration. We will be back for sure for another ride!

The High Road!

Katerina Posted on 09/07/2017

My friends and I just returned from a most spectacular and beautiful 3 day tour of The Highlands and Isle of Skye!!! We had a fantastic tour guide, Adam, who kept the entire bus engaged and entertained with his vivid stories of historical events, myths, and legends. It was a delight to be able to learn about Scottish culture, folklore, language, and history as we traveled across the country. We took stops overlooking beautiful landscapes and had plenty of opportunities for hiking and exploring. The Isle of Skye was absolutely glorious and we covered a lot of terrain in just a few days. In Rabbies own words Farewell to the Highlands, Farewell to the North but we cannot wait to come back for another adventure! Thank you!

Perfect 5 Day Family Tour

Brittany Posted on 20/06/2017

We had the most amazing family trip with Rabbies. We had exactly 16 members, which was perfect for booking our own mini-coach and customizing our own private trip. Ive used Rabbies before and had an amazing experience, so it was no surprise that this trip was just as wonderful. Allen was our guide, and we couldnt have picked anyone better for the job. He was super knowledgeable, very accommodating, and a perfect fit for our group. My family cannot stop talking about what an amazing time they had and how much they enjoyed Allen. I will continue to recommend Rabbies to anyone visiting Scotland and use them again for our next trip!

Great Fun

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour through the beautiful Isle of Skye. Our tour driver, Ian, was very fun and knowledgeable. The countryside was filled with spectacular mountains, high cliffs, castles, many sheep, and incedible lochs everywhere. The only downside was our overnight accommodations were certainly not luxury.

Amazing tour!

Peter Posted on 04/05/2017

I booked a ticket for a 3-day tour to Isle of Skye. This was the first time I travelled with Rabbies and it exceeded my expectations. I asked them to book me a BB accomodation and after a couple of days I recieved the details in an email. (You need to request first though.) Our tour guide was Bobby Toner, a brilliant and very well informed gentleman with a great sense of humour. He always kept us updated about the points of interest, and as he drove by locations he would tell the history behind them and some more additional facts. For the rest of the time in the bus, we listened to traditional music. He often pulled over allowing us to take photographs, and we regularly stopped for short or long breaks giving us plenty of time to have lunch or take a walk around or just simply enjoy the view. We were always given the exact time of reunion at the bus. And here I must mention how lucky we were with the fellow passengers as they strictly followed Bobbys requests who made sure we are all safe and on time. Our accomodation was in Portree, where we spent 2 nights and were all picked up in the morning at a given time. The tour itself was amazing and well-planned. Luckily enough the weather was merciful to us as it was sunny at all times. All in all, it was a fantastic experience, thanks Bobby! I can highly recommend Rabbies to anyone looking for a new adventure.

Late but not forgotten...

Valerie Burkhart Posted on 29/12/2016

At this time of year, I always review the most memorable travel experience I’ve had. First on my list of memorable experiences for 2016 is the “Isle of Skye Highlands 3 Day Tour.” This tour, because of our guide, Grant Scott, was a lot of fun and informative. Grant’s relaxed manner, enthusiastic personality, wonderful sense of humor created the perfect atmosphere while taking in the breathtaking beauty of the Isle of Skye, the Highlands, Munros, Lochs and so much more. He was attentive, filled the time with hilarious travel stories, folklore, to recounting the background of clans and battles, played beautiful Scottish music, and gave us an overview of the historical significance of every place we visited, relative to its effect on Scotland today. I will take more Rabbie’s tours because of him. There are also other reasons to choose a Rabbie’s tour. 1. I booked this tour through Viator, also an excellent company, however, contacted Rabbies for other inquiries. I found them easy to reach, friendly, and they answered all my travel questions. 2. Many times, you can choose to start a tour from either Edinburgh or Glasgow. 3. The Mercedes buses are a dream - comfortable and have charging stations for your technology. 4. Many options for hotel or B B accommodations. I booked my hotel through Viator, but see that Rabbies also has recommendations, which I will consider in the future. 5. Rabbies has an extensive list of tours. 6. You get a detailed itinerary in advance and know how to prepare for each day. 7. Most importantly, for me, is that the tour groups are small. I’m returning to Scotland this summer and will book more Rabbie’s tours. I am looking forward to the next adventure with them!
