Isle of Skye Tours from Scotland

What You'll Discover on Skye

Isle of Skye trips are a playground of natural wonders and stories waiting to be discovered. The Cuillin mountains rise dramatically from the earth, perfect for hiking or simply standing in awe. The Old Man of Storr dominates the skyline, a must-see for photographers and anyone who loves a bit of legend with their landscape. At Neist Point, Scotland’s most dramatically perched lighthouse keeps watch over the Atlantic, and if you’re lucky, minke whales may pop up to say hello.

In Portree, enjoy colourful harbour houses and sample the freshest seafood straight from the coast. Dip your toes in the icy-clear Fairy Pools, wander the magical Fairy Glen, or explore Dunvegan Castle, home to Clan MacLeod for 800 years. And yes, folklore promises a face-dip under Sligachan Bridge brings eternal beauty. Worth a try, we say.

How long is an Isle of Skye tour?

Our Isle of Skye tour lengths depend on how deeply you want to explore. Day trips from Inverness (around 12 hours) give you a taste of the island's greatest hits. Three-day tours from Edinburgh and Glasgow let you actually stay on Skye, waking up to those views rather than just visiting them, while five-day journeys combine the Isle of Skye with the wider Highlands, taking in Loch Ness and Glen Coe on the way. The longer you stay, the more you understand why geologists, poets, and directors keep returning to this breathtaking island.

What's included in your package?

Every Skye tour includes transport in our 16-seat mini-coaches, designed to be small enough for single-track roads and comfortable enough for Highland distances. We've mapped the scenic routes, identified the photo stops, and know which local bakeries deserve your attention.

Multi-day tours include accommodation in locally owned guesthouses, B&Bs, or hotels. You choose your own meals, giving you freedom to sample what catches your eye in each village. Some tours include specific attractions like Dunvegan Castle, while others leave exploration time flexible. Check individual tour details to see exactly what's included in your Isle of Skye tour.

Getting to the Isle of Skye

Our Isle of Skye tours depart from Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Inverness. We handle the journey there, crossing some of Scotland's most spectacular scenery on the way. Our guides treat the journey as part of the adventure, not just travel time between points.

If you're wondering how to get to the Isle of Skye independently, the Skye Bridge connects the island to the mainland at Kyle of Lochalsh, making it accessible by road. There are plenty of public transport options from mainland Scotland for those who don’t drive. Our expert driver-guides handle the navigating so you can sit back and take in the views.

How you’ll get around

We use 16-seat Mercedes mini-coaches to accommodate our small groups. These allow access to places 40-seater buses never see. You get proper windows for those mountain views, comfortable legroom, and we can go right to the viewpoints with room to stop and experience them. The mini-coaches also mean you can sample the local whisky without worrying about driving back.

Where you'll stay on Isle of Skye multi-day tours

For Isle of Skye trips lasting multiple days, you’ll be staying in locally owned accommodation. Sometimes that's a guesthouse where the owner shares recommendations over breakfast. Sometimes it's a hotel in Portree where you can watch the harbour lights from your window. We choose places that understand hospitality and feed you properly. You'll get comfortable beds, private rooms, and a sense of place. More importantly, you’ll get an authentic experience of Skye, meeting the locals as you go and helping to support the communities we visit.

How big are the tour groups?

Mini-coaches seat a maximum of 16 people. This smaller group number means you're never fighting for space and offers a more personal experience where you’ll get to know your guide and fellow travellers by name. It also means you can fully explore Skye’s beautiful hidden gems without large groups crowding the space. Small groups also mean flexibility, letting you ask questions and steer the conversation to find out things you actually want to know.
