London to Avebury
Leaving London behind, you travel west. The big city and motorways fade into the North Wessex Downs National Landscape, and you travel through the peaceful green hills towards the village of Avebury.
Avebury
You spend the morning in the village of Avebury. This UNESCO World Heritage site dates back over 4000 years, and is the largest prehistoric stone circle in the world. What makes this extraordinary landscape so unique is the village that has been built within the stone circle, with houses dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. You have time to meander this mysterious setting and have a refreshment from the local village pub.
Lacock Village and free time in Bath
From here, you travel deeper into the rural landscape to Lacock, where you'll have time to visit the famous abbey. Fans of Harry Potter, get your cameras ready because you'll recognise the cloisters, used as Hogwarts corridors in the movies. There's plenty to discover in this magical medieval building. After you've had time to explore this quirky village, it's onwards to Bath, our main stop of the day. Arriving in the mid-afternoon, you can enjoy the iconic Georgian architecture at your own pace, or even visit the Roman Baths for another dose of history.
