Morning

Independent train journey from London to Manchester

All great adventures start early in the morning, and yours begins at London Euston station. You board an Avanti West Coast train that carries you out of the capital and through cities, villages, and gentle countryside on the journey north to Manchester. You travel independently to Manchester Piccadilly, then walk just 10 minutes to our departure point. From here, you’ll join your fellow travellers and a friendly driver guide on a comfortable mini coach, heading north to one of England’s most beautiful landscapes: the Lake District National Park.

Your train ticket and all essential travel information will be sent to you by email prior to the tour.

Mid Morning

Board a mini-coach and travel to the Lake District

Leaving Manchester behind, you head north into England’s Lake District, surrounded by some of the country’s finest scenery. Home to Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain, and Wastwater, its deepest lake, the landscape here is shaped by dramatic contrasts that leave a lasting impression.

Ancient woodlands shelter red deer and red squirrels, while osprey glide overhead and lakes shimmer in the distance. It’s easy to see why this beautiful region is known as a poet’s paradise, inspiring figures such as William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter.

Afternoon

Lunch in Ambleside, Kirkstone Pass & Aira Force waterfall

At the tip of Lake Windermere sits the charming town of Ambleside, framed by some of the park’s most picturesque views. Once known for its medieval wool trade, it’s now a favourite spot for walkers and food lovers alike. This is our lunch stop, giving you time to wander its cosy streets and pick a café that catches your eye.

We then head deeper into the national park along a route famed for its twists and dramatic climbs. Sit back and enjoy the scenery as we travel through the striking Kirkstone Pass.

From there, we follow the shores of Ullswater - often called one of England’s most beautiful lakes - before stopping for a woodland walk to admire the powerful Aira Force waterfall.

Early Evening

Free evening in Keswick

Our final viewpoint of the day certainly rivals the rest. We’ll take you to the scenic headland of Friar’s Crag, which looks out across the serene waters of Derwentwater - a place where peace and stillness seem to settle over everything.

After soaking in the view, you make a short journey to the vibrant market town of Keswick, your base for the night. Overlooking Derwentwater, this picturesque setting has featured in a number of well‑known films and TV series (Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy) drawn here by the area’s dramatic scenery.
