Poldark: Our Guide to Filming Locations in Cornwall

You may have heard about Ross Poldark.

Or even better, you’re obsessed, and you've seen all 27 episodes of the swoon-worthy Poldark series. Created by Winston Graham and played by Aidan Turner, Ross Poldark is undeniably quite a phenomenon. In the show, he's a heroic, temperamental, rebellious and brooding British Army Officer who returns home to Cornwall from the American War of Independence to find his life turned upside down.

Although Poldark's looks even wooed the scything community, don’t be fooled.

The real star of the show and novels is Cornwall.

Shimmering blue waters, white sandy beaches, lush countryside and rugged cliffs: This spectacular part of England plays the lead role in the story. And takes our breath away as many times as Ross Poldark.

Here are a few of the fantastic things you'll find.

Bodmin Moor

Travel through this rugged and windswept landscape where St Breward doubles as Poldark's home, Nampara. Bodmin Moor set the scene for a classic duel and many of the cast have been spotted galloping on horseback through this wild area.

Porthcurno Beach

Located near the Minack Theatre, this stunning beach was chosen for Nampara Cove.

And we really understand why; its white sand, turquoise water and high cliffs deserve to be casted for its oasis of natural beauty. This is where Demelza and Ross find themselves strolling in a dream sequence.

Tin Mining Heritage Landscape

Mines at Botallack and Levant were a centrepiece of Cornwall’s mining history and they’re part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site. A testimony to its contribution to the Industrial Revolution, in the series they feature as the Poldark family mines of Wheal Leisure, Wheal Grace, and Grambler.
