Killarney to Dingle Peninsula
Do you want to marvel at something? Once you’ve experienced the vast and beautiful region of Dingle Peninsula, you’ll understand why we love it so much. It’s a place where glorious beaches hug luscious shorelines. Where the traditions of a mysterious and passionate culture remain part of the everyday, from ruins to towns. All you will experience is beauty for yourself as we leave Killarney Town and head south towards Dingle Peninsula. You’ll understand why it’s a popular filming location spot and might even recognise scenes from Star Wars: The Last Jedi as we coast around.
Scenic Slea Head Drive
The weather doesn’t matter; it’s the kind of place that’s perfect no matter what - glistening in the sunlight or with waves crashing in argument with the angry clouds above. We then journey along Slea Head Drive, one of Ireland’s most scenic routes. This dramatic coastal loop offers sweeping views of the Atlantic, rugged cliffs, and windswept headlands. Make sure you’re not napping as we coast along this circular route, and we’ll keep our options open as we drive. Perhaps you’ll stop in at Tóchar Maothaithe - Ireland's famous beehive huts. Or maybe the Famine Cottages, bleak histories with an incredible view.
Dunmore, Gallarus Oratory, lunch in Dingle Town
Our drive takes us to Slea Head, offering stunning views and a chance for a short walk or a visit to the beach. We’ll follow the scenic Slea Head Drive, with its winding roads, rugged coastlines, ancient stone forts, and breathtaking Atlantic vistas. Along the way, we’ll stop at incredible spots, including the Gallarus Oratory. Ancient and striking, this is the last surviving church of its kind, ready for you to explore. The day ends in the charming town of Dingle, where you’ll have a couple of hours to wander, try local cuisine, visit the distillery, or enjoy a scoop of Murphy’s Ice Cream with unique flavours like Irish Brown Bread or Dingle Gin.
