Rabbie’s JEDI Commitment
Rabbie’s is committed to ensuring an inclusive environment where people can be their genuine selves in accordance with our values. We are working to create a safe and inclusive organisation that continually learns and grows to dismantle barriers, eliminate discrimination and create equity for our people and for anyone we engage with.
Justice
We work to identify and remove barriers that create unequal experiences, ensuring fairness and accountability across the organisation.
Equity
We recognise that people have different needs and we provide tailored support to ensure everyone has an equal chance to thrive.
Diversity
We value the unique perspectives and backgrounds our people bring. We seek to build a workforce from the widest possible range of backgrounds.
Inclusion
We foster a culture where everyone feels welcome and supported. Discrimination, harassment, and prejudice have no place at Rabbie’s.
What recruitment and hiring look like at Rabbie's
We strive to make every stage of our recruitment and hiring process as fair, inclusive, and accessible as possible. Our JEDI commitment and Equal Opportunities statement are included in all job adverts so that prospective candidates can see the values that guide our organisation. We use structured interview frameworks and clear assessment criteria to help create a consistent experience for all applicants and to reduce the potential for bias in our decision-making.
In addition, our managers are provided with a Hiring and Promotion Guide that sets out key principles for making recruitment and promotion decisions. These decisions are based on merit, supported by objective evidence, applied consistently through established frameworks, and made without unlawful discrimination or bias. Through these practices, we aim to attract and support talented people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
Training and development available to the team
We know that creating an inclusive workplace is a journey, and one that we're all learning from every day. That's why diversity and inclusion training forms part of every new team member's onboarding experience. From the beginning, we introduce our value that every story matters, helping everyone understand the important role they play in creating a welcoming and inclusive culture and encouraging them to champion JEDI principles across the business.
We're committed to growing our knowledge and understanding as a team. Last year, our CSR team took part in training with LGBT Youth Scotland and shared their insights and resources with colleagues across the business. We also have a team of Mental Health First Aiders from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, helping to create a supportive environment where people feel listened to and cared for.
Looking ahead, our five-year JEDI strategy includes a commitment to continually expanding and strengthening learning and development opportunities for our team. We've recently introduced an Inclusive Language Guide to help us communicate with each other in a respectful, welcoming, and thoughtful way, avoiding biases and slang.
Over time, we'll build on this work by applying the same principles to our external communications, ensuring our commitment to inclusion shines through in everything we do.
We recognise that this work is ongoing, and we are committed to listening, learning, and continually strengthening a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, supported, and able to be their genuine selves.
What we expect from our suppliers and partners
We believe that creating a welcoming, inclusive and respectful environment is something we all share responsibility for. That's why we expect all suppliers, partners, and stakeholders to share the same standards that guide our own organisation. Our Code of Conduct sets out our expectations around treating people with respect and dignity, and we look to work with organisations that are committed to doing the same.
We pay close attention to fair and safe working conditions throughout our supply chain and expect our partners to uphold these standards. We also expect them to adhere to equal opportunities employment practices and fair work principles, ensuring their operations support people's rights, wellbeing and positive working environments.
