Responsible Lobbying Policy

1. Purpose and Commitment 

Rabbie’s is committed to conducting all business activities with integrity, transparency, and accountability. As a purpose-driven travel company, we recognise our responsibility to contribute positively to society and the environment. 

Where Rabbie’s engages in public policy dialogue and lobbying, we commit to doing so only in ways that support a sustainable, inclusive, and responsible tourism sector, aligned with frameworks such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

Rabbie’s will not engage in lobbying activities that undermine its purpose or negatively impact environmental or social outcomes. 

 

2. Scope of Lobbying Activities 

Rabbie’s may engage in lobbying activities, including: 

  • Direct engagement with policymakers and regulators  

  • Participation in public consultations  

  • Collaboration with industry associations and trade bodies  

  • Advocacy on issues relevant to the tourism sector  

All such activities are conducted in accordance with this policy. 

 

3. Principles for Responsible Lobbying 

3.1 Positive Impact 

Rabbie’s will lobby only where it believes its actions will contribute to a positive impact on society and/or the environment, including but not limited to: 

  • Sustainable tourism development  

  • Climate action and environmental protection  

  • Community wellbeing and cultural preservation  

 

3.2 Evidence-Based Approach 

Rabbie’s commits to ensuring that all lobbying positions are informed by: 

  • Reliable, evidence-based data (including independent research and industry insights), and/or  

  • Scientific data from reputable, peer-reviewed sources  

 

3.3 Political Contributions 

Rabbie’s does not make financial or in-kind contributions to political parties, candidates, or campaigns. 

If this position changes, any such contributions will: 

  • Be transparent and publicly disclosed  

  • Align with this policy and Rabbie’s purpose  

  • Comply fully with all applicable laws and regulations  

 

3.4 Anti-Corruption and Bribery 

Rabbie’s maintains a zero-tolerance approach to bribery and corruption. 

All lobbying activities must comply with: 

  • Applicable anti-bribery and corruption laws  

  • Rabbie’s internal Code of Conduct and ethics policies  

No employee, representative, or intermediary may offer, request, or accept any improper advantage in connection with lobbying activities. 

 

3.5 Engagement with Intermediary Organisations 

Where Rabbie’s engages with industry associations, trade bodies, or other intermediary organisations: 

  • Rabbie’s will seek alignment between the organisation’s lobbying positions and this policy  

  • Rabbie’s will advocate for responsible, sustainable positions within those organisations  

If misalignment arises, Rabbie’s will: 

  • Publicly disclose its position compared to that of the intermediary organisation  

  • Explain how it is influencing the organisation toward positive impact  

  • Define clear “red lines” that would result in withdrawal from the organisation  

Controls may include: 

  • Codes of conduct  

  • Participation guidelines  

  • Ongoing review of memberships  

 

4. Governance and Oversight 

4.1 Approval and Review 

This policy is approved by Rabbie’s highest governing body (Board of Directors). 

It will be formally reviewed at least annually or more frequently if required. 

 

4.2 Accountability 

The CEO is accountable for: 

  • Enforcing this policy  

  • Ensuring compliance across the organisation  

 

4.3 Embedding the Policy 

Rabbie’s will embed this policy by: 

  • Integrating it into relevant internal policies and procedures  

  • Providing guidance to employees involved in external engagement  

  • Ensuring alignment with sustainability and governance strategies  

 

4.4 Risk Management 

Rabbie’s will identify and manage risks of non-compliance by: 

  • Monitoring lobbying and public policy engagement activities  

  • Reviewing memberships in industry bodies  

  • Assessing alignment with company purpose and this policy  

 

4.5 Monitoring and Evaluation 

Compliance with this policy will be evaluated through: 

  • Periodic internal reviews  

  • Governance oversight by the Board or a delegated committee  

  • Documentation and review of lobbying activities undertaken  

 

5. Speak-Up and Grievance Mechanism 

Stakeholders, employees, and partners may raise concerns regarding Rabbie’s lobbying practices or business conduct through the company’s grievance procedure. 

All concerns will be handled: 

  • Confidentially  

  • Without retaliation  

  • In line with Rabbie’s whistleblowing and grievance policies  

 

6. Transparency and Public Availability 

This policy: 

  • Is approved by Rabbie’s highest governing body  

  • Will be published on Rabbie’s website  

  • Is accessible to all stakeholders  

 

7. Review and Continuous Improvement 

Rabbie’s is committed to continuously improving its approach to responsible lobbying and will update this policy as best practices evolve.
