Route

Day 1

Day 2

Day 3

Day 4

konzentriert sich voll und ganz auf Skye. Erforschen Sie den wilden Nordteil der Insel, den Old Man of Storr, den Quiraing-Pass und Neist, den äußerst westlichen Punkt der Insel Skye bei Neist.

Day 5

Itinerary (English)

Day 1

Your tour takes you north past Stirling castle, and then west to Scotland's first National Park around Loch Lomond, and the "bonnie banks". You will travel through the impressive mountains of the West Highlands through the magnificent white-washed 18th Century town of Inveraray, home to the Campbell Clan and the Duke of Argyll. The afternoon will be spent in the heart of Argyll exploring the area close to the ancient Kingdom of Dalriada before arriving in bustling town of Oban, the gateway to the islands, for your two night stay.

Day 2

Day 2 is an early start crossing on the ferry to Mull and enjoying an island adventure exploring her dramatic coastlines and wild beauty, before taking the small ferry to the peace and tranquillity of Iona - birthplace of Celtic Christianity and ancient burial ground of Scottish Kings. Here you can visit the historic abbey with its intricate carved crosses in the churchyard or explore the rocky headlands and sandy coves of this island gem. There is also an opportunity to take a small boat out to the island of Staffa and view the dramatic basalt columns immortalised by Mendelssohn in his Hebridean Overture "Fingal's Cave". You then return on the ferry to Oban for your second night.

Day 3

Day 3 takes you north along the west coast around Appin, passing the impregnable Castle Stalker, and Glencoe, scene of the infamous massacre of the Clan Macdonald in 1692. You then pass through Fort William nestling in the shadow of Ben Nevis which at 1344 meters is the highest mountain in the British Isles. We continue through the Great Glen a natural fault in the earth’s crust that runs through Scotland and on through Ireland. From here you travel north to the picturesque fishing village of Plockton. You are then dropped off at your accommodation in the early evening.

Day 4

Day 4 focuses on exploring Skye. Your guide will choose the best itinerary to suit the weather and local conditions to give you a chance to get off the beaten track. You may visit Elgol for views into the Cuillin Mountains, Glenbrittle with its waterfalls and wild scenery or perhaps Dunvegan Castle.

Day 5

You will be collected from your accommodation for the short drive to the famous stronghold of Eilean Donan Castle, used in the film "Highlander", set at the junction of 3 lochs as protection against Viking raiders. Then you travel east taking in the stunning views over Loch Duich and the 5 Sisters of Kintail. Continue on to Loch Ness for lunch and the possibility of spotting "Nessie". Heading south now through the Grampian mountains along Loch Laggan, made famous now as "Monarch of the Glen Country" before passing Dalwhinnie, home to Scotland's highest whisky Distillery, and onwards into Perthshire where we stop for refreshments before heading back to Edinburgh past Perth and over the Forth Road Bridge.

Wonderful 5 day tour with Alan!!!!

Krystle Wang Posted on 26/07/2016

We just returned from our trip to Scotland and had an absolutely amazing time during our Rabbies tours -- a 5 day trip to the Highlands and West Coast islands, a one day trip to Alnwick castle, and a one day trip to St. Andrews. Although all three of our tours were wonderful, we especially had an incredible experience during our 5 day trip to Iona, Mull, and Isle of Skye thanks to our tour guide Alan. He was simply the star of our trip. Within the first day, his talented/suspenseful storytelling and gentle humor brought our group together, and by the end of the trip, we were all reluctant to say goodbye. We were spoiled by his flexibility and thoughtfulness any reasonable requests for additional stops were seamlessly added and he still managed to accomplish this despite the famous changeable Scotland weather. His recommendations for what to do, see, and eat at each stop or town were spot on. Because of his willingness to go the extra mile (he even drove back to our BB to retrieve the camera we had accidentally left...), our 5 days were filled with unforgettable experiences and stunning vistas. In short, we particularly recommend the 5 day tour to Isle of Iona, Mull, and Skye...and if possible, ask for Alan!!!

The best

We had Suu as our guide for the Oban, Mull, Skye tour. Amazing. The passion and the gaelic and the floor show were extraordinary and such fun. Worth bottling! Highly recommended!

Scottish Island Highlights - Iona, Mull, Skye and Orkney 9 Day

Calvin Lam Posted on 14/07/2016

We (a group of 8) joined the Rabbies Scottish Island Highlights - Iona, Mull, Skye and Orkney 9 Day Tour between May 28 to June 5, 2016, which was a combination of The Iona, Mull the Isle of Skye 5 Day Tour - 4 Island Magic and The Orkney and Scotlands Northern Coast tour. Our guide/driver for the first one was Audrey, and that for the 2nd was Stevie. Overall, the tour went through really lovely places with stunning sceneries and we love Scotland, never realised that its such a beautiful place, especially the beaches along the N. coast and places like Plockton, Iverary, etc. While on the whole, we enjoyed it, we had very different experiences with the 2 guides. Audrey in our first tour (May 28-June 1) was absolutely fantastic and a natural, her passion and will to make sure that all in the group are flawlessly looked after was sooo good. Shes never tired (despite the long driving and accompanying us to every excursions) and never stopped to entertain us with her interesting stories of Scotland, and her songs collection was wonderful, local and specific to our tour. Her passion about her job and Scotland was simply infectious. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the 2nd guide- Stevie. While he too was knowledgeable, he lacked the passion and the drive to make us feel comfortable about the tour, or to help us especially in time of our need. Our first nite with him as guide was in Inverness (June 1) and there was a mix-up with the 4 rooms Rabbies booked for us. Basically, we went up to the hotel and the owner said theres no booking for us, Stevie was not participative in helping and told us that he had to go while his office was frantically looking for rooms, and that we had to take taxis later to go and find out hotels - supposed when (and if) his office got some rooms for us. Thats rather disconcerting for us, he was not that interested in having the group communicating and live harmoniously together for the trip. The atmosphere was that we feel that were just left to our own including going to some excursions, sometimes wasnt really sure what we expect and whether thered be adequate time for us to visit the key sights (climbing down and up). Im sure he can do better given that hes really knowledgeable, and he did show some improvements in the last 2 days. Sometimes making tour members feel being looked after is the crucial success trait for a tour leader - I think.

Thank you, Alan

Had an amazing experience on the five day tour of Iona, Mull and Skye with Alan as a guide. His vast knowledge of Scottish history, culture, natural history and languages combined with superb storytelling and a wicked sense of humor made the tour a winner. Cant wait to return to Scotland and try another Rabbies tour!

Great Trip- Thanks Arran

Julie Goff Posted on 16/05/2016

What a great trip, very interesting and Arran kept us entertained with his history and tall Scottish tales. Only thing was whilst it was an Island tour we did not stay on any islands. Oban and Plockton are lovely, but Plockton is very small and finding somewhere to eat was difficult as it was very busy when we visited. Would have preferred to stay in Tobermory and Portree.

What a fantastic tour! The scenery was awesome. The places we visited were of great interest. The weather was testing! Our driver and guide, Mac, was outstanding with his knowledge, his stories, his music and his ability to get us safely around chasing the elusive sun. Additionally he also collected many bags of rubbish while we were enjoying the best of Scotland - a passionate guardian of Scotlands heritage and environment.

Wonderful tour with Audrey

The 4 Island Magic Tour is really magic! Mull, Staffa, Iona and Skye, I do not know which island was the best. We also had the chance to visit some amazing castles in the Western Highland and famous Glencoe. Plockton was a perfect location to visit Skye. The little hotels in Oban and Plockton were very good. A very BIG THANK YOU to our guide Audrey. I add some photos and I hope you see the magic...
