What our customers say about our 5 and 6-day Scotland tours

What you'll discover on a 5 or 6-day tour of Scotland

Whether you choose a 5-day Scotland tour or stretch it to 6, you'll cover the essential Highland highlights at a pace that lets the landscape sink in. Your route typically winds through Glencoe's mountain passes, pauses at Loch Ness for those monster-spotting moments, and reaches islands like Mull, Iona or Orkney. Along the way, expect stops in Highland towns, visits to castles perched on sea lochs, and enough time in quiet villages to grab a coffee or chat with locals. The 6-day Scotland tour adds breathing room for longer walks, coastal detours to fishing villages, and the opportunity to explore the islands, including the Isles of Skye, Harris and Lewis. Each itinerary has its own character, so check individual tour pages for the day-by-day detail.

Choosing your tour length

A 5-day tour of Scotland fits neatly into a week-long UK trip and gives you a compact sweep of the Highlands, Islands and the west coast. Whereas the 6-day Scotland tour offers a gentler pace, with more time for photography stops, optional short hikes, and evenings to explore villages rather than just passing through. If you want breadth, go for five days. If you'd rather linger a bit longer at viewpoints and experience even more of Scotland’s iconic landscapes, the extra day makes all the difference. Both give you the Highlands in full, so choose based on how you like to travel.

What's included in your tour

Both our 5 and 6-day Scotland tour options include transport in a 16-seat mini-coach driven by one of our storyteller-guides for the full trip. Plus, no minimum numbers means that your tour will go ahead, even if you’re the only one on it. We arrange accommodation at locally owned guest houses, B&Bs or small hotels. Depending on the tour you choose, there are several options: we can reserve your accommodation, and you pay the hosts directly; you can reserve your accommodation and pay for it as part of your booking; or you may choose to arrange your own accommodation independently. Meals, attraction entry fees and optional activities like whisky distillery tours or boat trips are not included, so you only spend on what interests you. Check the ‘what’s included’ section of your chosen tour page for the exact inclusions and any route-specific extras.

Where you'll stay along the way

We work with family-run guest houses, B&Bs and small hotels that match the character of the places you visit. Think hearty Scottish breakfasts, local tips from your hosts, and comfortable rooms after a day on the road. By choosing independently run accommodation, we help support the communities we visit while giving you a more authentic, local experience. Exact options and price bands are listed on each tour page in the FAQs section, and because we use small properties, booking early helps secure your preferred room type, especially in peak season.

Room types to accommodate every traveller

You'll typically choose between single, twin, double or family rooms depending on the tour and what's available. If you're travelling solo, you can book your own room. However, this may be more expensive than a shared double or twin. Couples or friends sharing a twin or double room usually get the best value. On some routes in quieter Highland villages, room availability can be limited, so letting us know your preferences early helps. Your confirmation email will have all the accommodation details for your chosen tour.

Setting off from Edinburgh

All our 5 and 6-day Scotland tours from Edinburgh start in the heart of the city, at Edinburgh Bus Station, conveniently located close to the main train station. You'll meet your driver-guide and mini-coach at gates J and K at the bus station, load your luggage, and be exploring the Highland landscapes in just over an hour. Edinburgh is a great starting point for your adventure because it’s well-connected by rail and air. It’s also a fantastic city to explore before you set off, so make sure to plan extra nights here to explore the Old Town, castle and museums before or after your highland trip. We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before departure, as we leave promptly and are unable to wait for late-arriving passengers. If your tour returns in the evening, we also suggest staying an extra night to avoid any travel stress.

Why choose Rabbie's for your Scottish adventure?

We've been running Scotland tours of varying lengths for over 30 years, so we know which viewpoints catch the light, which villages have the best bakeries, and how to time a Skye itinerary around the weather. Our 16-seat mini-coaches reach roads that big buses can't, and your driver-guide shares folklore, history and local recommendations rather than just ticking off landmarks.
