Your story begins...

What better way to spend your day than along a stunning coastline exploring two historic places? Dundee might be known as the 'sunniest city' in Scotland, but it's the history and museums that you're likely to remember. Then there's St Andrews. Its cathedral was once one of Scotland's most magnificent buildings. Though in ruins today, there is still something mesmerising about it. That's the whole town of St Andrews. Elegant architecture backed by sweeping coastal views.

Morning

Aberdeen to Dundee

You may not think of beaches and oceans when you think of Scotland, but we assure you we have some pretty stunning ones here and today you're going to get to know the coastline of Scotland pretty well. You leave Aberdeen, 'The Granite City', and head south along the coastline and through the countryside towards Dundee. The heart of our journey takes us through gently undulating farmlands, fields bordered by drystone walls and hedgerows. But that's just the beginning. Keep your eyes peeled for the River Tay, Scotland's longest river, along parts of the drive, as well as gentle rising hills and open skies.

Mid Morning

Free time in Dundee

Your driver-guide will drop you near the waterfront, which is perfect for you not just because of the views, you'll also be close to the V&A Dundee. This international centre for design showcases the best of Scottish creativity, and design from around the world. Or, if you prefer, you also have the Royal Research Ship Discovery to explore. Built in Dundee, it was the first purpose built Antarctic Survey vessel and at the beginning of 20th century, it took the first British expedition of the modern era to Antarctica. Or perhaps exploring the city and waterfront is at the top of your list. The time is yours to do as you please.

Afternoon

Free time and lunch in St Andrews, Fife

We then enter one of the remaining ancient kingdoms of Scotland... the Kingdom of Fife, the home of golf, a hub for outdoor enthusiasts, and landscapes spotted with history. We continue south to the medieval town of St Andrews. St Andrew is the patron Saint of Scotland and according to legend his remains washed up on the Fife coast. St Andrews is also home to the third oldest university in Britain and is proud of its dramatic cliff-perched castle ruins. Not to mention, the town is the home of golf. Golf fans will love getting to know the Grand Old Lady, considered the oldest golf course. You have around two and a half hours to explore this fascinating town.

Early Evening

Countryside back to Aberdeen

After a busy day exploring and learning all about what makes Scottish towns and cities special, we start the journey back to Aberdeen, coasting through a pleasant rolling countryside.

You return to Aberdeen at approximately 6.30pm.
