Morning

Edinburgh to Forth Bridge Viewpoint

Departing from Edinburgh, we make our way to one of Scotland's most iconic viewpoints: the Forth Bridges Viewpoint. Opened in 1890, 1964, and 2017, these three bridges—though distinct—strikingly complement each other.

Mid Morning

Journey through Fife and Perthshire to Aviemore

As we journey north through the Kingdom of Fife, the scenery shifts from the rolling farmland of the Lowlands to the forested hills and mountains that mark the Highland Fault line in Perthshire. We continue through the lush landscapes of Highland Perthshire to Pitlochry, a quintessential Scottish town nestled among the hills. Take a stroll along the High Street and imagine the Victorian visitors who once explored this charming place, seeking the tranquillity of the Highlands. Your journey north is filled with classic Highland scenery as we approach the impressive Grampian Mountains and Cairngorms National Park, heading to Aviemore.

Afternoon

Lunch in Aviemore and the Cairngorms National Park

The charming resort of Aviemore, surrounded by mountains and sparkling lochs, is one of the best spots for outdoor exploration. Enjoy lunch here and some free time to discover the area before we head to Loch Morlich, a site as unique as it is bonnie. Take a leisurely walk along its sandy banks and breathe in the fresh mountain air—but be cautious! Some say a mermaid resides in the loch, luring people into its depths. The final part of the day is flexible as we continue north, with opportunities to stop at Carrbridge, Clava Cairns, or other hidden gems, depending on the interests of your group, the weather, and the time of year.

Early Evening

Free evening in Inverness

After a day filled with breathtaking landscapes and local legends, we arrive in Inverness, often referred to as the Capital of the Highlands. The evening is free for you to enjoy—make sure to sample some local cuisine and take a leisurely stroll along the charming streets to the impressive Inverness Castle or the scenic River Ness islands.

Loch Ness

Morning

Journey to Loch Ness

After a leisurely breakfast, you're picked up from your accommodation and taken into the surrounding countryside. The journey takes us to Dochgarroch, a small settlement on the Caledonian Canal on the northern tip of Loch Ness. The greatest Scottish mystery is teasing you, as the legendary loch is just at your fingertips here.

Mid Morning

Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle

A loch so immense it could contain all the UK's freshwater, dark, peated mysterious waters, and centuries of legends of a monster. No wonder Loch Ness inspires many stories, and it ignites people's imagination around the world. It's your moment to get as close to the legend as possible on a one-hour cruise that takes you across the loch to Urquhart Castle. This ruin perches dramatically on the shores of Loch Ness, has survived legions of battles and boasts over 1,000 years of history. Explore this scenic stronghold and imagine the tales of battles fought and lives lived within these stone walls, before we continue the journey to Fort Augustus.

Afternoon

Lunch at Fort Augustus, Glencoe and journey through the Highlands

We're exploring the enchanting Highlands and charming villages with a stop in Fort Augustus for lunch. Here, you can savor local specialties, stroll along peaceful paths, and watch boats glide through the Caledonian Canal locks. As we journey south, the wild heart of the Highlands beckons with stunning mountains, lochs, and wildlife. Your driver-guide will lead you to hidden gems suited to your group's interests and the weather. One unforgettable stop will be Glen Coe, a breathtaking valley rich in history and natural beauty, where towering peaks inspire awe. Perhaps your driver-guide may even share the tragic tale that has haunted this valley for over 300 years...

Early Evening

Journey through Loch Lomond and The Trossachs, and return to Edinburgh

Further south, the expansive moors transform into the lush landscapes of Scotland's first national park: Loch Lomond & The Trossachs. Here, steep mountains rise alongside shimmering lochs, thick forests thrive, and the legends of Rob Roy, the famed outlaw, add to the area's charm. We'll pause to soak in the classic Highland views before continuing south into the Lowlands, passing Stirling on our journey back to Edinburgh.

FAQ

Hello curious traveller, are you ready to go beyond with us? Whether you're heading to the Highlands, the Lake District, or further; we know you might have a few questions before setting off on your adventure. Our FAQs are here to help make your journey smooth and stress-free.

Do you offer hotel pickups in the departure cities?

The UK and Ireland's historic city centres are full of narrow streets and winding roads. So, to speed up your departure, we only pick up from our central meeting points. What's more is leaving the city using the most direct route also reduces the carbon footprint of our tours.

Is there parking close to the departure point?

We don't recommend bringing your car into the centre of our departure cities. It can be hard to find parking, and there are excellent public transportation services.

When should I get to the departure point?

Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. Due to waiting restrictions, we can't wait for you if you're late.

Do I need a visa or travel authorisation to go on a Rabbie’s tour?

Entry requirements vary depending on your nationality, personal circumstances, and the country or countries you will travel to and transit through. It is your responsibility to ensure you have all relevant documentation required for your selected itinerary and that you meet all formal entry requirements before travelling.

You can find up-to-date and reliable information on the official tourism website of the counties you’re visiting, or from their embassy or consulate.

What happens if I'm late or miss the tour?

If you're late for your tour, our cancellation policy applies. 100% charges are applicable, and you will not be entitled to a refund or alternative.

What are your cancellation policies?

Cancellation terms depend on which tour you've booked:

1 Day Tours
You'll receive a full refund if you cancel 24 hours or more before the tour departure.

2 - 9 Day Tours
You'll receive a 90% refund if you cancel 15 or more days before the tour departure.

10+ Day Tours
You'll receive a 90% refund if you cancel 21 or more days before the tour departure.

Package tours
You'll receive a 90% refund if you cancel 56 days or more before the tour departure.

If you cancel inside these notice periods, full charges will apply and no refunds will be issued.

To cancel your booking please email tours@rabbies.com as soon as possible. The effective date of cancellation will be the date we receive written confirmation from you.

Can itineraries change?

Your tour will always follow the itinerary as closely as possible. Your driver-guide will keep you up to date on the road, and we'll try to get in touch about any large changes prior to your departure.

What is a guaranteed departure?

It's simple: you book, you go. This means we'll never cancel your tour because of a minimum numbers policy.

Can I pre-book a specific seat?

Due to logistical reasons, we're unable to let you pre-book a seat on the bus. But our comfortable 16-seat mini-coaches have huge windows. So, you'll always get a good view.

Are there toilets on the bus?

We like to keep our coaches small and nimble. This means we have no on-board toilet facilities, but you frequently stop in local towns and villages for comfort breaks.

Do you take children on your tours?

We regret we don't carry children under the age of five on our scheduled tours. Also, some of our tours that focus on whisky experiences are suitable for travellers aged 18+.

You can ask us about the tours we recommend for younger children. And if your child is less than 1.35m tall, you should let us know, so we can provide them with a suitable booster seat.

How much time do I get off the bus?

We want you to enjoy every country you visit with us. And we believe the best way to do this is to get you off the mini-coach and out exploring. So, we give you plenty of time to take photos, go walking, and explore ancient ruins.

Why do you exclude visitor attractions?

We exclude visitor attractions in your tour price because it lets you travel your way. It means you can pamper yourself with a luxury lunch or skip an attraction whenever you feel like it.

Do we need to bring our own lunch?

You don't need to. We stop in small towns, villages, and rural eateries where you can choose whatever meal pleases both your taste buds and your budget.

Should I tip the driver-guide?

Let's be honest, our driver-guides would never refuse a cheeky bonus. But it's up to you, and the amount is entirely at your discretion.

What about travel insurance?

We advise you take out travel insurance.

What is ABTOT?

You're protected by ABTOT when you chose to let us reserve your accommodation on a multi-day tour. This means you can claim back anything you've paid us if we become bankrupt. Read our terms and conditions for more information.

I have more questions, who can help me?
