Edinburgh

Morning

Journey to Loch Lubnaig in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park

Skye. Just the name alone is enough to draw people from across the globe to see this stunning Scottish Island and it's your turn to explore this famous region. We depart Edinburgh and head northwest, waving hello to the Scottish Highlands. Your camera will get plenty of use as you travel through this breathtaking and legend-soaked landscape, as we make our way to our first stop: Loch Lubnaig. Will the mist hang lazily over the water? Or will the sun shine down and show off this wee but stunning stretch of freshwater? She's a popular destination for those who love their outdoor water activities. Grab a coffee or snack and wander its shores before we jump back on the bus.

Mid Morning

Trossachs National Park to Glencoe

Oh, the things you'll see today. Like the Great Moor of Rannoch, one of the last remaining wildernesses in Europe, a vast stretch of bog, lochans, and rocky outcrops. This is beauty unrivalled, the Scottish Highlands in all their glory. And it's calling you deeper into its embrace, and we'll make several stops at iconic viewpoints along the way. But perhaps the one you'll be looking forward to most is a stop in the dramatic Glen Coe. Steep mountains loom either side of you as we pass into the gentle blue tones of this scenic valley. You'll have a chance to gaze upon the iconic white house and the majestic Three Sisters—three imposing peaks steeped in myth and legend.

Afternoon

Lunch and journey through the Highlands to Eilean Donan Castle

It's time to refuel for lunch. We'll keep today's lunch stop flexible, but no matter where we end up, you'll begin to understand what the next few days will bring. It's time to get bold, too. Maybe you'll try haggis with a wee dram of whisky to pair. When in Scotland, right? Our journey continues through fantastical landscapes. Shimmering lochs sleep underneath looming mountains, quiet valleys impress you with their unyielding beauty, as we make our way to Eilean Donan Castle. Perched on a tidal island and surrounded by looming mountains, often shrouded in mist, there's something moody about this castle. No wonder it's the most photographed castle in Scotland.

Early Evening

Arrival on the Isle of Skye, dinner and free evening at the Hame on Skye

We cross the yawning Skye Bridge, catching your first glimpse of The Misty Isle. Eerie lochs, heather-clad moors, towering peaks that hide in the mist, stretches of beaches with ancient echoes of dinosaurs and man alike. Skye is beloved. They say hame is where the heart is, and you'll receive a warm welcome at Hame on Skye, your home for the next two nights in the island's northwest. After a day of exploring, enjoy a bespoke dinner featuring Skye's local flavours, set against the stunning Roag Peninsula. Then, relax by the fire with a wee dram before a restful night. Tomorrow, start your day with a hearty local breakfast before exploring the legendary Isle of Skye.

The Quiraing

Morning

Exploring different parts of the island

There is nothing quite like the Isle of Skye, which is why we're drawn to it time and again. And not just us – travellers from around the world (you) find something to love in this achingly beautiful landscape. And it's more than just what you see – it's what you don't. It's about what whispers in the breeze and hides in the shadows. It's the stories etched into ruinous castles and the timeline worn into the landscape. Do fairies frolic around you? Are the legends true about the Old Man of Storr? That's for you to discover as we begin our exploration of Skye. This morning, we'll keep things flexible; who knows where we'll end up?

Mid Morning

Exploring different parts of the island

Now you're getting it, aren't you? Skye doesn't do things halfway. It's a landscape of unfathomable beauty, of sheer rock peaks and powerful moments that stay with you long after you've gone. Perhaps we'll wander through the Faerie Glen, where emerald mounds create an otherworldly, enchanted landscape. Or maybe we'll gaze out over the land as if it were ours to claim at the Quiraing. And you might have started to ask yourself: why does this look familiar? Skye made her on-screen debut years ago. From Stardust to Snow White and the Huntsmen, Transformers: The Last Knight to The BFG, Skye makes the perfect dramatic setting for many of our favourite films.

Afternoon

Free time for lunch in Portree, Talisker Distillery

Another spot you may recognise is the village of Portree. A row of colourful pubs sitting snuggly alongside a quiet harbour packed with boats, the smell of sea and salt lingering in the air... how could such a place not be known? You'll have free time here for lunch and your driver-guide will be happy to make recommendations. Stomachs warmed, it's now time to warm the cockles of your heart – and in Scotland we do that with a wee dram of whisky. We head for Talisker Distillery for an included tour and tasting. Even if whisky (or drinking) isn't your thing, the whisky-making process really is fascinating, and you'll soon see why we call it our uisge beatha - ‘water of life'.

Early Evening

Dinner and free evening at the Hame on Skye

The day isn't over. Hame is waiting – and so is another incredible meal. Don't let that whisky lull you into a nap as we journey back through the landscapes of Skye; who knows what's left to see? We hope your appetite is as eager as ever, as we sit down for another dinner, sampling more of Skye's quality tastes. Stomachs full, the evening is yours to enjoy by the fire or even a walk in the countryside.

Day 3 - Inverness & Rogie Falls
Pick Up Location Map Image

Pick up time: 8.00am

Location: Gate J And Gate K, Edinburgh Bus Station, St Andrew Square, Edinburgh, EH1 3DQ

Rogie Falls

Morning

Journey back to the mainland, Dornie

Farewell, Skye. But don't despair, you'll have memories to last a lifetime – and we think they make the best souvenirs. Not to mention, Skye's farewell will be a memorable one as we coast along first thing this morning as we head back towards the mainland. Our big windows make for the best view, and we're not opposed to stopping here and there when the view absolutely demands it. Once more over the Skye Bridge, and we're back on the mainland of Scotland, heading inland along lochs and through valleys until we reach our first main stop of the day.

Mid Morning

Optional walk at Rogie Falls

Make sure you wear your walking shoes this morning, as we've arrived at Rogie Falls. Situated along the Black Water River in the Highlands, this series of waterfalls are surrounded by a range of woodland walks. But it's the view below you've come to see, and crossing the suspension bridge is a must for those without a fear of heights. From this striking viewpoint, see if you can spot the salmon swimming below.

Afternoon

Lunch in Inverness, journey south through the Highlands to Pitlochry

After a refreshing morning breathing in Scotland's scents, it's back on the bus to settle that growing grumble. This is a foodie experience, after all. Inverness - Capital of the Highlands. A gateway for some, but a hub for you to indulge today. There's plenty to see, but what better way to round off this foodie experience than enjoying some fine Highland cuisine? Your driver-guide can show you some of the city's hidden culinary gems before we continue our journey back down south. We stop for refreshments in the charming Perthshire town of Pitlochry which is worthy of a photo or two itself! This is a great place for one final treat.

Early Evening

Journey from Pitlochry to Edinburgh

It's the final stretch of your journey, so take a moment to soak in the landscapes unfolding before you. What will you see? A tranquil loch nestled beneath towering mountains? A lone deer lingering at the edge of an ancient forest? The haunting ruins of castles, still whispering stories of the past? As you journey south, rugged mountains and dense forests give way to the rolling pastures and sheep-dotted fields of the Kingdom of Fife. Crossing the Firth of Forth, with Scotland's three iconic bridges in view, you'll have plenty of stories to share—or perhaps even a new recipe to try!

FAQ

Hello curious traveller, are you ready to go beyond with us? Whether you're heading to the Highlands, the Lake District, or further; we know you might have a few questions before setting off on your adventure. Our FAQs are here to help make your journey smooth and stress-free.

Do you offer hotel pickups in the departure cities?

The UK and Ireland's historic city centres are full of narrow streets and winding roads. So, to speed up your departure, we only pick up from our central meeting points. What's more is leaving the city using the most direct route also reduces the carbon footprint of our tours.

Is there parking close to the departure point?

We don't recommend bringing your car into the centre of our departure cities. It can be hard to find parking, and there are excellent public transportation services.

When should I get to the departure point?

Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. Due to waiting restrictions, we can't wait for you if you're late.

Do I need a visa or travel authorisation to go on a Rabbie’s tour?

Entry requirements vary depending on your nationality, personal circumstances, and the country or countries you will travel to and transit through. It is your responsibility to ensure you have all relevant documentation required for your selected itinerary and that you meet all formal entry requirements before travelling.

You can find up-to-date and reliable information on the official tourism website of the counties you’re visiting, or from their embassy or consulate.

What happens if I'm late or miss the tour?

If you're late for your tour, our cancellation policy applies. 100% charges are applicable, and you will not be entitled to a refund or alternative.

What are your cancellation policies?

Cancellation terms depend on which tour you've booked:

1 Day Tours
You'll receive a full refund if you cancel 24 hours or more before the tour departure.

2 - 9 Day Tours
You'll receive a 90% refund if you cancel 15 or more days before the tour departure.

10+ Day Tours
You'll receive a 90% refund if you cancel 21 or more days before the tour departure.

Package tours
You'll receive a 90% refund if you cancel 56 days or more before the tour departure.

If you cancel inside these notice periods, full charges will apply and no refunds will be issued.

To cancel your booking please email tours@rabbies.com as soon as possible. The effective date of cancellation will be the date we receive written confirmation from you.

Can itineraries change?

Your tour will always follow the itinerary as closely as possible. Your driver-guide will keep you up to date on the road, and we'll try to get in touch about any large changes prior to your departure.

What is a guaranteed departure?

It's simple: you book, you go. This means we'll never cancel your tour because of a minimum numbers policy.

Can I pre-book a specific seat?

Due to logistical reasons, we're unable to let you pre-book a seat on the bus. But our comfortable 16-seat mini-coaches have huge windows. So, you'll always get a good view.

Are there toilets on the bus?

We like to keep our coaches small and nimble. This means we have no on-board toilet facilities, but you frequently stop in local towns and villages for comfort breaks.

Do you take children on your tours?

We regret we don't carry children under the age of five on our scheduled tours. Also, some of our tours that focus on whisky experiences are suitable for travellers aged 18+.

You can ask us about the tours we recommend for younger children. And if your child is less than 1.35m tall, you should let us know, so we can provide them with a suitable booster seat.

How much time do I get off the bus?

We want you to enjoy every country you visit with us. And we believe the best way to do this is to get you off the mini-coach and out exploring. So, we give you plenty of time to take photos, go walking, and explore ancient ruins.

How does accommodation work?

Accommodation is a key part of your multi-day tour experience. Where accommodation is not included as part of your tour you will have the free option to have us reserve rooms on your behalf (Reserved by Rabbie's) or server your own accommodation with a venue of your choosing (Tour Only).

Read more about how accommodation works

Accommodation pricing

Where accommodation not included in your tour package, prices will vary per location, time of year and are based on availability. We work with verified 3rd party providers who set their own prices.

You should expect to pay from £80 (€80) per person per night for B&B Ensuite accommodation or from £100 (€100) for a Hotel. Prices are based on multiple occupancy per room. Supplements for single occupancy may apply.

For more details please view our Accommodation Guide

Why do you exclude visitor attractions?

We exclude visitor attractions in your tour price because it lets you travel your way. It means you can pamper yourself with a luxury lunch or skip an attraction whenever you feel like it.

Do we need to bring our own lunch?

You don't need to. We stop in small towns, villages, and rural eateries where you can choose whatever meal pleases both your taste buds and your budget.

Should I tip the driver-guide?

Let's be honest, our driver-guides would never refuse a cheeky bonus. But it's up to you, and the amount is entirely at your discretion.

What about travel insurance?

We advise you take out travel insurance.

What is ABTOT?

You're protected by ABTOT when you chose to let us reserve your accommodation on a multi-day tour. This means you can claim back anything you've paid us if we become bankrupt. Read our terms and conditions for more information.

I have more questions, who can help me?
