Combine the majestic heights of Royal Deeside with the epic cliff-top site of Dunnottar Castle.
Dunnottar Castle- This clifftop fortress has seen the greats of Scotland’s history pass through its gates. Perched on an impregnable clifftop overlooking the North Sea, it’s an unmissable sight.
Falls of Feugh - Stretch your legs and breathe in the invigorating Highland air at these magnificent waterfalls.
Braemar - Braemar has a strong association with the British royal family and the annual Highland Gathering.
Cairngorm National Park - Gaze in awe at Scotland’s most beautifully rounded peaks.
Muir of Dinnet - This landscape has been shaped by ice, wind and water. It truly is one of Scotland’s most impressive National Nature Reserves.
For almost 150 years, the British royal family have travelled to the River Dee for their holidays.
With almost unlimited cash and resources, why do they always come here?
We think there’s an easy answer.
This area encapsulates everything everyone loves about Scotland. You find grand castles enclosed by pine forests. You look up at the marvellous Cairngorm mountains covered in snow and stags. And there’s enough nearby distilleries to satisfy any royal event.
So, who wouldn’t want to escape to the fresh air of this location?
On this tour, we combine her majesty’s favourite holiday spot with a trip to Dunnottar Castle, one of the most historically important and visually arresting sights in Scotland.
Hop aboard this tour, see an epic castle, and discover whether you have the same taste as the royals.
Students, seniors over 60, and children between 5 and 15 (unfortunately, we don't carry children under 5 years old).
You travel straight from Aberdeen to one of Scotland’s archetypal structures, Dunnottar Castle. It’s a stunning fortress set on a cliff by the sea. It’s seen more battles than you’ve had cups of tea and is an essential Scottish destination.
Your next stop is the Falls of Feugh. These cascading falls are mesmerising; and if you’re lucky, you may even spot a salmon jumping up the river.
It’s now time for lunch in Braemar, a lovely little village with royal connections and plenty of local delicacies to try.
You then head to the Muir of Dinnet Nature Reserve and get the opportunity to go for a stroll. Keep your eyes peeled for otters, birds, and adders on this woodland walk.
You leave the Cairngorm National Park and arrive in Aberdeen in the early evening.
We took the train up from Leuchars (St. Andrews) for this day tour. Dunnottar Castle was quite interesting. We could have spent more time just there. The rest of the tour up the Royal Deeside to Braemar was wonderful and well-paced for a 1 day tour. Our guide, Neil, was great. We got to see some new parts of Scotland for us including a different side of the Cairngorms. Weve toured several times with Rabbies before, but had concentrated on the northern and western parts before. We appreciated the efforts Neil and Rabbies took to return some items we left on the bus. Neil got our property back to Edinburgh in time for us to get it before we left on a 3 day tour. Although our property wasnt worth much, there was a gift for our son that it was nice to get back for him. We really enjoyed and recommend this tour. Coming up from St. Andrews by rail made for a long day but was quite doable and the train schedules allowed us a little time in Aberdeen before and after our tour.
The UK and Ireland's historic city centres are full of narrow streets and winding roads. So, to speed up your departure, we only pick up from our central meeting points. What's more is leaving the city using the most direct route also reduces the carbon footprint of our tours.
We don't recommend bringing your car into the centre of our departure cities. It can be hard to find parking, and there are excellent public transportation services.
Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. Due to waiting restrictions, we can't wait for you if you're late.
If you're late for your tour, our cancellation policy applies.
We have a cancellation period of three days for our one day tours, and 21 days for longer tours. If cancelled outside this period, we'll give you a full refund minus a 10% admin charge. If you cancel inside this period, refunds are at our discretion. Click here to view full terms and conditions.
It's simple: you book, you go. This means we'll never cancel your tour because of a minimum numbers policy.
Due to logistical reasons, we're unable to let you pre-book a seat on the bus. But our comfortable 16-seat mini-coaches have huge windows. So, you'll always get a good view.
Unfortunately, we have no on-board toilet facilities, but you'll have regular comfort breaks.
We aim to accommodate everyone. To read more information on how we do this, click here to go to our accessibility guide.
We regret we don't carry children under the age of five on our scheduled tours.
You can ask us about the tours we recommend for younger children. And if your child is less than 1.35m tall, you should let us know, so we can provide them with a suitable booster seat.
We want you to enjoy Britain and Ireland. And we believe the best way to do this is to get you off the mini-coach and out exploring. So, we give you plenty of time to take photos, go walking, and explore ancient ruins.
We exclude visitor attractions in your tour price because it lets you travel your way. It means you can pamper yourself with a luxury lunch or skip an attraction whenever you feel like it.
You don't need to. We stop in small towns, villages, and rural eateries where you can choose whatever meal pleases both your taste buds and your budget.
Let's be honest, our driver-guides would never refuse a cheeky bonus. But it's up to you, and the amount is entirely at your discretion.
We advise you take out travel insurance.
You're protected by ABTOT when you chose to let us reserve your accommodation on a multi-day tour. This means you can claim back anything you've paid us if we become bankrupt. Read our terms and conditions for more information.
