Your tour takes you north past Stirling castle, and then west to Scotland's first National Park around Loch Lomond, and the "bonnie banks". You will travel through the impressive mountains of the West Highlands through the magnificent white-washed 18th Century town of Inveraray, home to the Campbell Clan and the Duke of Argyll. The afternoon will be spent in the heart of Argyll exploring the area close to the ancient Kingdom of Dalriada before arriving in bustling town of Oban, the gateway to the islands, for your two night stay.
Day 2 is an early start crossing on the ferry to Mull and enjoying an island adventure exploring her dramatic coastlines and wild beauty, before taking the small ferry to the peace and tranquillity of Iona - birthplace of Celtic Christianity and ancient burial ground of Scottish Kings. Here you can visit the historic abbey with its intricate carved crosses in the churchyard or explore the rocky headlands and sandy coves of this island gem.
There is also an opportunity to take a small boat out to the island of Staffa* and view the dramatic basalt columns immortalised by Mendelssohn in his Hebridean Overture "Fingal's Cave". You then return on the ferry to Oban for your second night.
* Please note that due to the timings of the sailing we have on this tour we will be unable to visit Staffa on Saturday 8th June 2019.
Day 3 takes you north along the west coast around Appin, passing the impregnable Castle Stalker, and Glencoe, scene of the infamous massacre of the Clan Macdonald in 1692. You then pass through Fort William nestling in the shadow of Ben Nevis which at 1344 meters is the highest mountain in the British Isles. We continue through the Great Glen a natural fault in the earth’s crust that runs through Scotland and on through Ireland. From here you travel north to the picturesque fishing village of Plockton. You are then dropped off at your accommodation in the early evening.
Day 4 focuses on exploring Skye. Your guide will choose the best itinerary to suit the weather and local conditions to give you a chance to get off the beaten track. You may visit Elgol for views into the Cuillin Mountains, Glenbrittle with its waterfalls and wild scenery or perhaps Dunvegan Castle.
You will be collected from your accommodation for the short drive to the famous stronghold of Eilean Donan Castle, used in the film "Highlander", set at the junction of 3 lochs as protection against Viking raiders. Then you travel east taking in the stunning views over Loch Duich and the 5 Sisters of Kintail. Continue on to Loch Ness for lunch and the possibility of spotting "Nessie". Heading south now through the Grampian mountains along Loch Laggan, made famous now as "Monarch of the Glen Country" before passing Dalwhinnie, home to Scotland's highest whisky Distillery, and onwards into Perthshire where we stop for refreshments before heading back to Edinburgh past Perth and over the Forth Road Bridge.
Another summer, another multiday tour with Rabbie’s. Because I love Scotland I just keep coming back. I enjoy getting on a Rabbie’s bus, find a nice seat and just relax, look at the scenery and listen to the guide. Since I have done several tours with Rabbie’s before I had been to many of the places we visited on this tour. However, each guide makes the tour unique so you can get so many different experiences. Arron, my guide on this tour, was simply amazing. He figured out what places I had been to before and tried to find places I hadn’t been. He did a great job so I actually got to visit quite a few new places. To have a guide that knows his way to the hidden gems was brilliant. He was very attentive to the passengers, tried his best to find places and views that would suit all. Not all the passengers were able to walk in the terrain but Arron did his best to make them get a good tour. Since Plockton is such a small place he had even prebooked restaurants for the couple of nights we stayed there, making sure that everyone would be able to get a proper meal. He really did everything he could to make sure that each passenger had the best experience possible. He stopped the bus to rescue a little frog he spotted on the road. Others would not even have noticed this tiny animal. If Arron spotted someone in need, he would help. He loves Scotland and seemed to really enjoy having the opportunity to show the passengers the beauty of his country. The stories he told were interesting and funny. I quite enjoyed the one about the headless horseman on Mull and the one about Hamish the giant. Arron is sweet, gentle, funny, attentive, considerate, patient, flexible, sensitive – a man with a heart as big as all outdoors – and an absolutely awesome guide. I’d jump back on the bus with him any day. I’m sure he can make even the dullest place memorable.
Just returned from this great tour. It was a time when the individual elements combined to give me a fabulous time. Weather, travelling companions and a great guide, Gill B, were near perfect. I got to the top of Staffa saw a puffin and dolphins played round our boat. This was my first proper holiday on my own since my husband died and i was a little apprehensive about being left out. I was included by everyone, we all got on so it was great to meet people from other counties. If you are reading this and you are on your own just take that step you will have a good time. Thank you everyone on the trip. Great music too.
Had a small 5 man group and 2 guides so was all the more fun. Thanks Aron (Hope I spelt that right) and Stefan of course, even the rain and wind didnt dampen our spirits. We visited some awesome places and stayed in some excellent BBs.
One week later, I want to offer my immense gratitude to Rabbies for five of the most magical days in the Highlands. From mind-boggling scenery, spellbinding storytelling and bus sing-a-longs (including a whisky drinking song and a nursery rhyme Ill never get out of my head), to Highland cows in the road, countless sheep and eight vivid rainbow sightings, it truly was like living in a dream. Our tour guide (and possible real-life faerie) Heather over-delivered on every expectation short of a unicorn sighting, and I couldnt say enough good things about her. Right off the bat, her excellent sense of humor set the tone for our group, and I knew we were in for a fun five days. Not only did she embody the warmth and friendliness that the Scots are known for, but she is a born storyteller and regaled us with tales of Scottish Highlands folklore. A hush would fall over the bus whenever she started telling a story, and wed all end up clapping enthusiastically at the end. I couldve listened to her talk forever. Heather regularly impressed us with her in-depth knowledge of Scottish history, folklore and environmental issues, all while skillfully navigating the Highlands roads. You could tell that she injected some personal touches, too, like a seemingly impromptu whisky tasting and helping us locate the perfect place for a group photo (including perfectly executing a jumping photo!). Ill be telling all of my friends and family to take a Rabbies tour whenever theyre in the UK or Ireland from now on. The Highlands make you forget about your daily life unlike any place Ive ever been. I thought Id be able to check off Scotland after this trip between all that we were able to see in five days, but in fact its had the complete opposite effect. Now, Im more drawn than ever to this incredible country full of kind, warm people. Its only a matter of time before I get myself back there. Thank you so much for five unforgettable days!
We took the Mull Iona Skye tour and pulled into the bus station 3 hours ago. Im delighted to say we had the best time. Our mini bus had Russian, German, Thai, Brazil, Australian and Americans aboard. The first day we all decided we could cure the worlds troubles! Catty was our guide. This young woman is so sweet, smart and capable. She interacted with all of us, had us laughing and enjoying every minute. Nothing was too big a challenge for her...including rain, clouds, and crazy drivers!! This was just a truly lovely tour...personally adored Iona. I encourage anyone who is looking for a reliable, efficient, dependable, consistent company to show you the beauty of Scotland to book with Rabbies.
Have just returned from this tour today.Apprehensive at 1st, my travel agent in country Victoria Australia hadn’t heard of Rabbies tours. Our tour guide Mac was the best ,an absolute bundle of knowledge and many tales of Scotland he,kept us all entertained. To top it all off he played the bag pipes well. Will spread the word to my Aussie friends.
What an unforgettable journey! Our guide Chris led us on an unforgettable journey with his historical knowledge, cultural lore, love of beauty for Scotland, caring attitude and wicked wit. We heartily recommend this tour for those seeking the love of the journey and Scotlands superb scenery and history. As well as the laughs and thoughtful conversation. Thanks, Chris and Rabbies Tours.
Rabbies definitely a great option for those who consider travelling to Scotland. Im lucky to have Audrey to be my guide throughout the five-day tour.. Audrey is an experienced guide, knowledgeable in Scotland, with a high sense of humour, bringing us memorable and unforgettable moments! Songs on bus was chosen with care with rich combination, and with unique and special style. I was amazed by the song that ended exactly when we arrived the bus station (where we first met) on the last day of trip, which gave a perfect ending to our tour. Audrey is also a caring guide that cares about each of us all the time. I admire her way treating friends, strangers, and even the nature. I would choose Rabbies again if Im heading to UK or Ireland. Hopefully there would be more tours being organised around Europe! 26377322272131537324203583045626371:)

The UK and Ireland's historic city centres are full of narrow streets and winding roads. So, to speed up your departure, we only pick up from our central meeting points. What's more is leaving the city using the most direct route also reduces the carbon footprint of our tours.
We don't recommend bringing your car into the centre of our departure cities. It can be hard to find parking, and there are excellent public transportation services.
Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. Due to waiting restrictions, we can't wait for you if you're late.
If you're late for your tour, our cancellation policy applies.
We have a cancellation period of three days for our one day tours, and 21 days for longer tours. If cancelled outside this period, we'll give you a full refund minus a 10% admin charge. If you cancel inside this period, refunds are at our discretion. Click here to view full terms and conditions.
It's simple: you book, you go. This means we'll never cancel your tour because of a minimum numbers policy.
Due to logistical reasons, we're unable to let you pre-book a seat on the bus. But our comfortable 16-seat mini-coaches have huge windows. So, you'll always get a good view.
Unfortunately, we have no on-board toilet facilities, but you'll have regular comfort breaks.
We aim to accommodate everyone. To read more information on how we do this, click here to go to our accessibility guide.
We regret we don't carry children under the age of five on our scheduled tours.
You can ask us about the tours we recommend for younger children. And if your child is less than 1.35m tall, you should let us know, so we can provide them with a suitable booster seat.
We want you to enjoy Britain and Ireland. And we believe the best way to do this is to get you off the mini-coach and out exploring. So, we give you plenty of time to take photos, go walking, and explore ancient ruins.
We exclude visitor attractions in your tour price because it lets you travel your way. It means you can pamper yourself with a luxury lunch or skip an attraction whenever you feel like it.
You don't need to. We stop in small towns, villages, and rural eateries where you can choose whatever meal pleases both your taste buds and your budget.
Let's be honest, our driver-guides would never refuse a cheeky bonus. But it's up to you, and the amount is entirely at your discretion.
We advise you take out travel insurance.
You're protected by ABTOT when you chose to let us reserve your accommodation on a multi-day tour. This means you can claim back anything you've paid us if we become bankrupt. Read our terms and conditions for more information.
