Itinerary (English)

Day 1

  • Learn about Scotland’s most important battles as we pass Stirling Castle
  • Admire the mountainous splendour of the Five Sisters of Kintail
  • Take an epic photo of the gorgeous Eileen Donan Castle
  • Wander around the cute seaside village of Portree

You depart Edinburgh and travel west. This part of your journey is a history lover’s dream. You pass Stirling Castle, the Wallace Monument, and Doune Castle, before stopping in Callander for refreshments.

Next, we venture north through the splendid scenery surrounding Loch Luibnaig and up to the wild desolation of Rannoch Moor.

You continue through the spectacular mountain pass of Glencoe, scene of the great massacre of the Clan Macdonald in 1692. And after lunch we pass Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, and head into the Great Glen. Travelling west you head past the Five Sisters of Kintail.

You then stop at the famous Eilean Donan Castle, one of Scotland’s most photographed castles. Crossing over the bridge to Skye, you follow the dramatic coastline, towards the island’s capital, Portree. And after all this breath-taking beauty, you’re dropped off at your accommodation in the early evening with enough time to go out and explore the town.

Day 2

  • Explore the natural wonders of Skye
  • Enjoy spectacular sea views at Neist Point
  • Learn about the history of the Clan Macleod at Dunvagen Castle

Today is a flexible day on Skye. Your driver/guide will ensure you have the best day out no matter what the weather.

North of Portree is the Trotternish ridge with spectacular cliffs and rock formations, such as the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock and the stunning mountain pass of the Quiraing. Further west the scenery changes again with the emerald green valley of Glendale, the dramatic sea-cliffs of Neist Point (the most westerly point on the island, where you might get lucky and spot some whales or sharks!), and the 13th-century home of the Clan Macleod, Dunvegan Castle.

You return to Portree in the evening.

Day 3

  • Try and spot the Loch Ness Monster
  • Journey through the pine-clad region of Perthshire

You travel south through the Cuillin Hills and back over to the mainland for stunning views over Loch Duich and the five Sisters of Kintail.

You visit Loch Ness for lunch and the chance to spot "Nessie"! Heading south through the Grampian mountains along Loch Laggan, famous now as "Monarch of the Glen Country" before passing Dalwhinnie and onwards past Blair Castle.

We stop for refreshments in one of the Perthshire villages before heading past Perth, over the Forth Road Bridge, and back to Edinburgh.

James our guide and entertainer!

Seema Banerjee Posted on 24/09/2017

Rabbies came highly recommended by our family friend and we are happy that we took his word for it. Our 3 day trip to the Isle of Skye Highlands was fantastic and James behind the wheels made it an absolute delight. Even though the weather played spoil sport for a day in between, James commentary on the places visited, immense knowledge on local history and witty humor made sure our trip was sunny and super fun. He was accommodating, friendly and ensured we got to see all the highlights of Skye and we could not have asked for more. We wish all of you at Rabbies all the very best and thank James for a memorable trip. God Bless you all!

Phoebe Lin Posted on 01/09/2017

Hi, I am Phoebe form Taiwan. We are very lucky to have Grant as our tour guide. He is caring, thoughtful, funny and super warm-hearted. He never fails to entertain us. He introduces us about Scottish history ,culture, music and people how to cherish their land and heritages. I can see his confidence and pride of being a Scottish. Dont forget to take a picture with him and his KILT. Grant is talktive, but we learn a lot from him.He also demanded us to request a song on our return journey...thats very sweet. I remembered that our members bought him breakfast 2 times. He was soooo happy. I do fall in love with Scotland. Grant, Thanks for everything, especially finding my purse and passport!! To me, it was an inspiring and educational journey. Thanks to Rabbies too. I will definitely recommend my friends to choose Rabbies .

Best Tour

We were all lucky enough to have Stewart Hunt as our guide. He is passionate about Glasgow, Scotland, music, and making a tour memorable for everyone. We loved how he coordinated the music. He had so much commenfor us and always so intere. He was very accommodating. I wanted a picture of Heilan coos, and he was able to pull the bus over the only time we saw any. Some wanted a whisky tasting and so we visited a distillery. We laughed lots. And of course, the Isle of Skye and the Highlands are not too, shabby either! The scenery was breathtaking.

The High Road!

Katerina Posted on 09/07/2017

My friends and I just returned from a most spectacular and beautiful 3 day tour of The Highlands and Isle of Skye!!! We had a fantastic tour guide, Adam, who kept the entire bus engaged and entertained with his vivid stories of historical events, myths, and legends. It was a delight to be able to learn about Scottish culture, folklore, language, and history as we traveled across the country. We took stops overlooking beautiful landscapes and had plenty of opportunities for hiking and exploring. The Isle of Skye was absolutely glorious and we covered a lot of terrain in just a few days. In Rabbies own words Farewell to the Highlands, Farewell to the North but we cannot wait to come back for another adventure! Thank you!

Perfect 5 Day Family Tour

Brittany Posted on 20/06/2017

We had the most amazing family trip with Rabbies. We had exactly 16 members, which was perfect for booking our own mini-coach and customizing our own private trip. Ive used Rabbies before and had an amazing experience, so it was no surprise that this trip was just as wonderful. Allen was our guide, and we couldnt have picked anyone better for the job. He was super knowledgeable, very accommodating, and a perfect fit for our group. My family cannot stop talking about what an amazing time they had and how much they enjoyed Allen. I will continue to recommend Rabbies to anyone visiting Scotland and use them again for our next trip!

FAQs

Do you offer hotel pickups in the departure cities?

The UK and Ireland's historic city centres are full of narrow streets and winding roads. So, to speed up your departure, we only pick up from our central meeting points. What's more is leaving the city using the most direct route also reduces the carbon footprint of our tours.

Is there parking close to the departure point?

We don't recommend bringing your car into the centre of our departure cities. It can be hard to find parking, and there are excellent public transportation services.

When should I get to the departure point?

Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. Due to waiting restrictions, we can't wait for you if you're late.

What happens if I'm late or miss the tour?

If you're late for your tour, our cancellation policy applies.

What are your cancellation policies?

We have a cancellation period of three days for our one day tours, and 21 days for longer tours. If cancelled outside this period, we'll give you a full refund minus a 10% admin charge. If you cancel inside this period, refunds are at our discretion. Click here to view full terms and conditions.

What is a guaranteed departure?

It's simple: you book, you go. This means we'll never cancel your tour because of a minimum numbers policy.

Can I pre-book a specific seat?

Due to logistical reasons, we're unable to let you pre-book a seat on the bus. But our comfortable 16-seat mini-coaches have huge windows. So, you'll always get a good view.

Are there toilets on the bus?

Unfortunately, we have no on-board toilet facilities, but you'll have regular comfort breaks.

Do you take children on your tours?

We regret we don't carry children under the age of five on our scheduled tours.

You can ask us about the tours we recommend for younger children. And if your child is less than 1.35m tall, you should let us know, so we can provide them with a suitable booster seat.

How much time do I get off the bus?

We want you to enjoy Britain and Ireland. And we believe the best way to do this is to get you off the mini-coach and out exploring. So, we give you plenty of time to take photos, go walking, and explore ancient ruins.

Why do you exclude visitor attractions?

We exclude visitor attractions in your tour price because it lets you travel your way. It means you can pamper yourself with a luxury lunch or skip an attraction whenever you feel like it.

Do we need to bring our own lunch?

You don't need to. We stop in small towns, villages, and rural eateries where you can choose whatever meal pleases both your taste buds and your budget.

Should I tip the driver-guide?

Let's be honest, our driver-guides would never refuse a cheeky bonus. But it's up to you, and the amount is entirely at your discretion.

What about travel insurance?

We advise you take out travel insurance. You can click here for excellent rates.

I have more questions, who can help me?
