Leave Edinburgh and travel over the Forth Road Bridge to the Kingdom of Fife.
Travelling north the scenery changes from the rolling farmland of the lowlands to forested hills and mountains as you approach the highland fault line.
On the banks of the River Tay you find the gorgeous cathedral town of Dunkeld. You stop here and have the chance to explore the architecturally fascinating cathedral and the quaint streets of this picturesque village.
It's a short drive from here to the Hermitage, where you can take a fantastic woodland walk leading up to the Black Linn Falls.
Leaving the Hermitage you follow the wide valley of the River Tay towards the Victorian resort town of Pitlochry. You spend around one hour here, so you can visit the many great shops or have lunch.
After lunch, you take a scenic drive through the mountains of Highland Perthshire, and take a short stop at the Queen's View overlooking Loch Tummel. On a clear day the view here is awe-inspiring as it looks over to the unmistakable peak of Schiehallion and beyond to the mountains of Glencoe.
Continuing alongside Loch Tummel, you head over the hills into the ancient lands of Breadalbane, or the ‘High Country’ surrounding Loch Tay. You make a stop at the waterside village of Kenmore with a chance to walk along the shores of the loch and enjoy the views to Ben Lawers.
From here you travel the short distance to the town of Aberfeldy and Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery, where you can discover the secret of how Scotland's national drink is made.
After enjoying a dram of our ‘water of life’, the tour returns you to the lowlands and back to Edinburgh.
* Starting from November, Dewar's distillery is closed on Sundays throughout the winter. On these days you will be visiting Glenturret distillery instead. Please note that you will also visit Glenturret on these dates:
My family and I visited Scotland for the first time. Our driver Billy was fantastic. Very engaging, knowlegable and relatable. We felt Billys rapport with everyone of all ages was amusing and passionate. The whole experience left us with an appreciation and love for Scotland. By far our favourite tour in our 3 week exposure to UK and France.
Returned from my Higland Lochs, Glens Whisky 1 Day Tour. It was a fantastic tour!!! I had a great Tour Guide James. He is really cool and super friendly! All the sites we visited were beautiful. The Queens view and the Hermitage took my breathe away!!!!!Cant wait for the next tour with Rabbies when Ill be back in Scotland!
My girlfriend and I went on this tour on the 10th April 2018 and loved every moment. It was worth the price, with a phenomenal host ‘Tonks’ being very knowledgeable and energetic towards her job. Despite the weather being miserable, she made a laugh of it and got us all engaged!
On monday 19th of June we took the highland lochs, glens whisky tour with Ewan B. He made our trip so exciting because of his knowledge, his enthusiasm and all the stories that he told us. We made some beautiful pictures and just had a fantastic day! We will certainly come back one day and visit the highlands again!
On the 20th of May we did the Highlands Lochs, Glens and Whisky tour with Stefan as our guide for the day. Stefan was very informative and witty - a great guide. The tour was just amazing and we loved every minute. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone that enjoys the beautiful highlands and has an appreciation for whisky.
We spent really great day with Judy. She is an excellent story teller. I went back to my young years and was feeling like a child listening to fairy-tales. Thanks a lot, Judy. When I am reading other posts I only wonder how did Rabbie’s find so many people with such enthusiasm and love for their job. I wish you all the best, go on!
We joined your tour on 15/2/16 and would like to say how much we enjoyed it. The guide (Aaron) was very knowledgeable and extremely friendly and humourous who l must say made the day extra special. The new driver on the tour (Nick) made everyone feel safe. Thank you Rabbies.
We had an amazing day with Grant. This lad was a bard born 400 years too soon. His story telling with music were amazing. We learned loads and had a lot of fun. We saw an amazing view of history with amazing stories. Grant absolutely loves his job and it shows. Thanks for a great day, Boyd and Heather.
I initially joined the tour simply because I wanted to go to a whisky distillery, but as soon as the tour started, I instantly became a fan of our superb guide, Party Pete. Full of knowledge of various aspects of Scotland, talked in a way thats easy for even a non-native English speaker like me to understand, and was entertaining. I loved all the little episodes he talked about. In my opinion, a tour guide sometimes could be more important that the theme of the tour or where we are going. If I visit Scotland again and have such an opportunity, I would definately choose a tour that is guided by him. Thank you so much for a great day, Pete!
Let me just start by saying this tour was one of the highlights of my spring break. Alan was our tour guide and he couldn't have been more fun and informative, we loved him!! He seemed to know everything, and I mean EVERYTHING about where he took us and the history behind it. We were all on the edge of our seats every time he told us a story. I learned more in one day with Alan than I did after a semester in a history class. Basically, Alan was the best. The tour itself was also breath-taking, we went on the Highland Lochs, Glens and Whiskey day tour on March 13th, and I fell in love many times with Scotland's countryside. Thanks Alan!! You're the bomb. (Also seriously, apply for a voice-over job for the history channel)((but don't quit rabbies because we're definitely coming back, and requesting you))
The UK and Ireland's historic city centres are full of narrow streets and winding roads. So, to speed up your departure, we only pick up from our central meeting points. What's more is leaving the city using the most direct route also reduces the carbon footprint of our tours.
We don't recommend bringing your car into the centre of our departure cities. It can be hard to find parking, and there are excellent public transportation services.
Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. Due to waiting restrictions, we can't wait for you if you're late.
If you're late for your tour, our cancellation policy applies.
We have a cancellation period of three days for our one day tours, and 21 days for longer tours. If cancelled outside this period, we'll give you a full refund minus a 10% admin charge. If you cancel inside this period, refunds are at our discretion. Click here to view full terms and conditions.
It's simple: you book, you go. This means we'll never cancel your tour because of a minimum numbers policy.
Due to logistical reasons, we're unable to let you pre-book a seat on the bus. But our comfortable 16-seat mini-coaches have huge windows. So, you'll always get a good view.
Unfortunately, we have no on-board toilet facilities, but you'll have regular comfort breaks.
We aim to accommodate everyone. To read more information on how we do this, click here to go to our accessibility guide.
We regret we don't carry children under the age of five on our scheduled tours.
You can ask us about the tours we recommend for younger children. And if your child is less than 1.35m tall, you should let us know, so we can provide them with a suitable booster seat.
We want you to enjoy Britain and Ireland. And we believe the best way to do this is to get you off the mini-coach and out exploring. So, we give you plenty of time to take photos, go walking, and explore ancient ruins.
We exclude visitor attractions in your tour price because it lets you travel your way. It means you can pamper yourself with a luxury lunch or skip an attraction whenever you feel like it.
You don't need to. We stop in small towns, villages, and rural eateries where you can choose whatever meal pleases both your taste buds and your budget.
Let's be honest, our driver-guides would never refuse a cheeky bonus. But it's up to you, and the amount is entirely at your discretion.
We advise you take out travel insurance.
You're protected by ABTOT when you chose to let us reserve your accommodation on a multi-day tour. This means you can claim back anything you've paid us if we become bankrupt. Read our terms and conditions for more information.
