Rabbies Accommodation Information

Important Information about your Accommodation on Tour

Your tour does not include accommodation in the price. By giving you a choice of accommodation it allows you to manage your budget. We stay in smaller places where you will feel closer to the local people. This also means you help to sustain the communities you visit in the long term. Choose from either a hotel, B&B or a hostel and we will book it for you. We will always do our very best to satisfy your personal requirements and have an amazing track record for providing our customers with the best quality accommodation available. We do advise that single supplements usually apply, particularly during peak season when double/twin room rates are charged for sole occupancy .Please note that whilst Rabbie’s will try and place single travellers into the same accommodation, this may not be possible due to availability and the time of each individual reservation.

The accommodation we use will be dispersed around various towns and villages, usually not more than a 10-15 minute walk from the centre. There are occasions however when this can be increased to 20-30 minutes. Taxis are available for a small fee if necessary. If you have access needs or specific requirements please let us know when booking. Late bookings and/or peak season may limit the choice and location of available accommodation.

Whilst on tour your driver/guide will drop you off at your pre booked accommodation* and pick you up each morning.

*Please note that if your accommodation has already been booked by Rabbie’s, as per your initial request, there will be a surcharge for any amendments, and are entirely at our discretion. Changes to accommodation cannot be guaranteed and are subject to availability. A minimum of £5.00 will apply increasing to a maximum of £20.00 dependent on the length of the tour.

Please be prepared to pay cash. Most bed and breakfast, hostels and guest houses do not accept credit cards. In most large towns automatic cash point machines are readily available.

Customers are able to book their own accommodation as long as we have been informed that you intend to do this, and that it is within our drivers’ drop off’ area. If you are at all unsure please contact the office for guidance.

We are unable to supply a list of providers that we use due to availability at the time of booking. We do visit our providers regularly and are proud of the long standing relationships we have with them and positive feedback from previous customers.

Commenti del cliente

I have never been a tour before. My wife and I went on the 3 Day tour and had a wonderful time. The tour guide, Ian, wasnt just a guide but really a host. He really kept us informed, entertained, safe, and engaged. The group got along famously, and truly experienced the Scottish Highlands and Isle of Skye in a way we never could have on our own.

What a great trip, amazing scenery, superb accommodation and not forgetting the lovely company on the coach. The driver Alex kept us entertained during the trip providing loads of information about everywhere we went and to top it all he also provided music and songs for us to sing along to. Loved it, thank you Alex you were a superstar and the company are lucky to have you. I enjoyed it so much I have booked a couple of day tours for next month when I visit Glasgow again. Thanks again Jackie

I joined the tour 2 weeks ago with my sister from Hong Kong and until now, I still see it as an amazing one. With the excellent tour guide Ian, we learnt more about the history and nature about this mysterious place. Was really a great trip though it took a long way up to the Skye. Just one thing - we didnt make it to Neist Point in this tour, hope may be we can be there in the future! Many thanks to Ian!

We had an amazing 3 days around the Isle of Skye and the Highlands with John. He was very knowledgeable, considerate and kept us entertained with his stories and music throughout. His commitment to supporting local businesses and keeping the environment clean was particularly impressive! The sun was out most of the time and every glen, loch, backroad and village was beautiful! Wed go with Rabbies again and recommend it to anyone who wants to explore Scotland!

Although being a brief tour, it proved both memorable outstanding! Tour Guide John McDermott packed this event with all that was humanly possible. We are so impressed with your company and delighted to be able to leave the driving to Rabbies and soak up the rich Scottish scenery you normally dont have time to view for watching the road traffic etc. We are SO looking forward to seeing much more of our beautiful Homeland later this year courtesy of Rabbies. Thanks for the memories!

During september , my wife and I made the Sky Island Tour andT it was the right option for a 3 days break in our vacation in Scotland. The hotel choosed by Rabbie´s was the Tongadale , Portree, a small and friendly city, with many good restaurants. The whole trip was driven by our ANDREW THE BEST GUIDE ! He told many stories about this part of Scotland, was friendly and professional. We were like an old family inside the bus and the 3 days were short at the end! We need more. I´ve recommended Rabbie´s for all my friends tha has a trip to there, ans in the future we will make another tour, for sure! Thanks Andrew!

Im not sure if my review has been posted...apologies if I have double posted. I took the 3 day Isle of Skye tour from 9th - 11th September and we got Murray as our driver/tour guide. He was the absolute best, funny and very patient with our requests on the sort of sights wed like to see in Skye, not to mention having to help me take photographs as I was travelling solo. Murray kept feeding us all with historical facts, as well as some folk tales as we passed by certain areas. There was also plenty of Scottish music to fill the gaps, which was lovely. Im very pleased to say that the Rabbies tour was easily the highlight of my trip and I do plan to come back and see more of Scotland! We were lucky and managed to get 3 full days of sun during the tour (it rained almost the entire day the day after) and there were quite a lot of photo stops off the bus daily, which was great. The photographs on this website simply do not do the breathtaking, rugged landscape justice. You just have to come and see it with your own eyes. Portree is a very charming town and Id highly recommend the tour for first timers to Scotland. I requested to be dropped off at Spean Bridge on the last day of the tour as I was heading to Fort William the day after and Murray looked up information on public transport even though he didnt have to. Please pass my thanks and gratitude to Murray for being absolutely wonderful, not to mention his input and brilliant recommendations on shortbread and whisky. He deserves a raise!

Full Itinerary (English)

Day 1 Depart Glasgow at 09.00 and travel north, crossing the ancient natural fault line that runs across Scotland. We travel into the majestic Highlands where the scenery changes quickly and dramatically - the flat fertile plains of the Lowlands give way to shimmering lochs, rugged mountain tops and forest-filled glens. We continue north over the wild and remote Rannoch Moor into Glencoe. This haunting glen was the scene of a great massacre in 1692 where many of the Clan Macdonald were slaughtered. We stop in this imposing mountain pass so you can enjoy the spectacular views. From here we travel past Fort William and up to the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge with great views over Ben Nevis. On the "Road to the Isles" now through the splendour of the Five Sisters of Kintail, the mountains guarding the pass on the way to the Isle of Skye. We stop to visit the famous Eilean Donan Castle, used in the film "Highlander", set at the junction of 3 lochs as protection against Viking raiders. Crossing over the bridge to Skye, we head north to Portree. You are then dropped off at your accommodation in the early evening where you are free to go out and explore the town.

Day 2 is a very flexible day on Skye. There are many possibilities depending on the weather, and dynamics of the group. Your driver/ guide's knowledge will come to the fore in arranging the best day for everyone. For example: Travel north to explore the Trotternish peninsula with its stunning Quiraing mountain pass and some of Skye's extraordinary geological scenery. Kilt Rock, composed of basalt columns (reminiscent of the pleats in a kilt) with its waterfall cascading over the cliffs and down into the sea below. There will be a short break for lunch before continuing to enjoy this most dramatic of islands. Heading in a westerly direction there is Dunvegan castle, the ancestral home of Clan Macleod, and possibly the opportunity to enjoy spectacular views at Neist Point, the furthest most west point on Skye. We return you to your accommodation in Portree in the early evening for you to enjoy a free night in Portree.

Day 3 You will be collected from your accommodation and travel south through the Cuillin Hills and back over to the mainland for stunning views over Loch Duich and the 5 Sisters of Kintail. Onto Loch Ness for lunch and the possibility of spotting "Nessie". Heading south now through the Grampian mountains along Loch Laggan, famous now as "Monarch of the Glen Country" before passing Dalwhinnie, home to Scotland's highest whisky Distillery, and onwards past Blair Castle stopping for refreshments before heading back to Glasgow. Arriving at 1930 approx.
