Itinéraire (English)

Day 1

  • Admire the mountainous splendour of the Five Sisters of Kintail
  • Take an epic photo of the gorgeous Eilean Donan Castle
  • Wander around the cute seaside village of Portree

Departing Glasgow you travel north, crossing the ancient natural fault line that runs across Scotland. We travel into the majestic Highlands where the scenery changes quickly and dramatically - the flat fertile plains of the Lowlands give way to shimmering lochs, rugged mountain tops and forest-filled glens.

Next, we venture north through the splendid scenery surrounding Loch Luibnaig and up to the wild desolation of Rannoch Moor.

You continue through the spectacular mountain pass of Glencoe, scene of the great massacre of the Clan Macdonald in 1692. And after lunch we pass Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, and head into the Great Glen. Travelling west on the "Road to the Isles" you head past the Five Sisters of Kintail.

You then stop to visit the famous Eilean Donan Castle, one of Scotland’s most photographed castles. Crossing over the bridge to Skye, you follow the dramatic coastline, towards the island’s capital, Portree. And after all this breath-taking beauty, you’re dropped off at your accommodation in the early evening with enough time to go out and explore the town.

Day 2

  • Explore the natural wonders of Skye
  • Enjoy spectacular views of the Trotternish Ridge
  • Learn about the history of the Clan MacLeod at Dunvagen Castle

Today is a flexible day on Skye. Your driver/guide will ensure you have the best day out no matter what the weather.

North of Portree is the Trotternish ridge with spectacular cliffs and rock formations, such as the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock and the stunning mountain pass of the Quiraing. Or your guide may take you back in time and teach you about the legends and clan culture surrounding the 13th-century home of the Clan MacLeod, Dunvegan Castle.

You return to Portree in the evening.

Day 3

  • Try and spot the Loch Ness Monster
  • Journey through the pine-clad region of Perthshire

You travel south through the Cuillin Hills and back over to the mainland for stunning views over Loch Duich and the five Sisters of Kintail.

You visit Loch Ness for lunch and the chance to spot "Nessie"! Heading south through the Grampian mountains along Loch Laggan, famous now as "Monarch of the Glen Country" before passing Dalwhinnie and onwards past Blair Castle, stopping for refreshments before heading back to Glasgow.

Beautiful Misty Isle -- Thank you, Jenny!

Team USA Posted on 12/09/2019

We can’t say enough good things about how amazing our time in the Isle of Skye was! Our driver and tour guide extraordinaire, Jenny, was incredibly kind and generous with her knowledge, humor, and Irn-Bru’s. Always greeting us with a smile and sharing both the well-known and obscure details about the Misty Isle, Jenny was a phenomenal driver and showed us spectacular vistas! Who knew there were so many waterfalls, or that crofting was so fascinating?! Thank you for a wonderful tour, Rabbie’s, and thank you even more, Jenny, for being such an incredible guide! Perhaps we’ll be back for a second round... –Team USA 128522

Great tour

Robin Heino Posted on 10/06/2019

I Have taken Rabbie’s tours before but this was the first multi day tour. Ben was our guide and he was awesome. A wonderful storyteller, very friendly and you can tell how much he loves his country. He wanted us all to have a great time and listened to our questions and suggestions. We were blessed with awesome sunny weather which made being outside in the beautiful countryside even more amazing. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to get outside the cities and into the beautiful countryside of Scotland.

Stewart took us out on 3 fabulous days! We were a small group and we had a marvelous time. Stewart is an excellent tour guide and if you have a chance book in with him out of Glasgow. I have taken a few Rabbies tours and this was the best! Enjoy, enjoy!

Lisa McNamara Posted on 23/07/2018

Amazing tour! We learned so much more than we expected to of Scotland’s history and geology through our guide Grant’s expert commentary. The scenery, hospitality of the locals and laughs we enjoyed with our fellow passengers certainly made this short trip the highlight of our stay in Scotland. Thanks Rabbie’s! We look forward to touring with you again some day.

Unforgettable tour

We have spent wonderful days on the tour. Unforgettable views outside the bus window were accompanied by interesting stories, legends and stories of our guide and driver Iain Farrell. His work evokes a feeling of great gratitude.

An amazing tour through your history and landscape!

margit vik sundal Posted on 06/08/2017

Departing from Glasgow 26 July, we had a very interesting tour together with your guide Ian. He really knew the history of Scotland, and is an amazing story teller. In a fantastic way he told stories and facts about the Highland, the Clans and the nature, as he drowe through the historic places. This wa a trip through the timeline of Scotland! The rain was over us now and then, no surprice. Skye was nice, the mountains, the seaside, the town Portree.

Will Be Back

Eileen Low Posted on 11/07/2017

We had the most amazing tour from Glasgow with our very knowledgeable driver-guide, Ian who told us many great histories, tales and myths of Scotland and even the meaning of the songs related to it. Ive studied a year now in Scotland and I dont quite know this beautiful place but not until now! At the end of the tour, Ian played a song named Will Ye Come Back? OF COURSE WE WILL. I hope we could have a longer time in Skye and maybe tailor tours that include more hiking (Old Man of Storr, Quiraing) so that we can admire this piece of beauty a wee bit longer.

Are the tours well suited for the elderly

The Gunn family Posted on 25/06/2017

Hello, We are looking to book a tour with Rabbies but are concerned about our parents who have mobility issues. The are not in wheelchairs but do use walkers and cannot walk for long distances. This is an important trip to visit the homeland and we want to take in as much as possible, Thank you! The Gunn family

Do you offer hotel pickups in the departure cities?

The UK and Ireland's historic city centres are full of narrow streets and winding roads. So, to speed up your departure, we only pick up from our central meeting points. What's more is leaving the city using the most direct route also reduces the carbon footprint of our tours.

Is there parking close to the departure point?

We don't recommend bringing your car into the centre of our departure cities. It can be hard to find parking, and there are excellent public transportation services.

When should I get to the departure point?

Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. Due to waiting restrictions, we can't wait for you if you're late.

What happens if I'm late or miss the tour?

If you're late for your tour, our cancellation policy applies.

What are your cancellation policies?

We have a cancellation period of three days for our one day tours, and 21 days for longer tours. If cancelled outside this period, we'll give you a full refund minus a 10% admin charge. If you cancel inside this period, refunds are at our discretion. Click here to view full terms and conditions.

What is a guaranteed departure?

It's simple: you book, you go. This means we'll never cancel your tour because of a minimum numbers policy.

Can I pre-book a specific seat?

Due to logistical reasons, we're unable to let you pre-book a seat on the bus. But our comfortable 16-seat mini-coaches have huge windows. So, you'll always get a good view.

Are there toilets on the bus?

Unfortunately, we have no on-board toilet facilities, but you'll have regular comfort breaks.

How do you cater for people with accessibility needs?

We aim to accommodate everyone. To read more information on how we do this, click here to go to our accessibility guide.

Do you take children on your tours?

We regret we don't carry children under the age of five on our scheduled tours.

You can ask us about the tours we recommend for younger children. And if your child is less than 1.35m tall, you should let us know, so we can provide them with a suitable booster seat.

How much time do I get off the bus?

We want you to enjoy Britain and Ireland. And we believe the best way to do this is to get you off the mini-coach and out exploring. So, we give you plenty of time to take photos, go walking, and explore ancient ruins.

Why do you exclude visitor attractions?

We exclude visitor attractions in your tour price because it lets you travel your way. It means you can pamper yourself with a luxury lunch or skip an attraction whenever you feel like it.

Do we need to bring our own lunch?

You don't need to. We stop in small towns, villages, and rural eateries where you can choose whatever meal pleases both your taste buds and your budget.

Should I tip the driver-guide?

Let's be honest, our driver-guides would never refuse a cheeky bonus. But it's up to you, and the amount is entirely at your discretion.

What about travel insurance?

We advise you take out travel insurance.

What is ABTOT?

You're protected by ABTOT when you chose to let us reserve your accommodation on a multi-day tour. This means you can claim back anything you've paid us if we become bankrupt. Read our terms and conditions for more information.
