What a day. In one day we have seen so many nice things, heard so many interesting information about this fantastic country, and experienced so much, while -- and wed really like to stress this -- still having a very relaxed day. The mix of views, stops and visits, and especially the timing of those, made it such a nice day. Above all, our excellent driver, host, guide, encyclopedia and entertainer, Emily, ensured this day was awesome for everyone on the trip. Plenty of time for tea, for enjoying the views, for lunch, for taking photos, for experiencing the midges, for bathroom breaks, for visiting places. Words cannot do justice enough, so we added plenty of pictures.
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to visit Torridon Appleross, was lucky enough to have glorious weather on the day. Originally my plan was to visit the ever so popular Isle of Skye which is widely advertised on online booking tours as well as tourist information centres around Inverness. I didnt wish to be sitting on a jam packed tour bus for sure! Although I am sure Isle of Skye is as beautiful as in photos and from hearing other people. This tour has amazed me and exceeded my expectations, besides going on a perfect day where its usually quite gloomy in Scotland, managed to see spectacular views of the mountains, the cute hairy highland cooks and the West Scottish Highlands which left me speechless! The tour guide Helen did an amazing job driving us around the scenic highlands and playing traditional Scottish music as well as Scottish history and culture whilst being entertaining. I am glad there was only 5 of us in the tour with a small van which usually fits a group of 16. As there were only a small number of us,we had plenty of time to stop and take many photos! Even survived driving Britains most dangerous road too I would definitely select Rabbies tour again! So what are you waiting for? Go book this tour! Certainly wont be disappointing!
As I did and reviewed the fantastic Isle of Skye day tour two days ago, I had to register another account to be able to review this UNBELIEVABLY amazing tour. I picked this tour because I had never heard about these places before, so I had thought that these are less known, less tourist-invaded places. Also googled it, and the scenery was breathtaking. Also, Helen told me on the Skye trip that this trip would be HUGE. On Friday I had an amazing day on Skye with Rabbies and this tour on Sunday was equally fantastic, exceeded all my expectations. Just like on Skye, we had a lucky day with no rain, sunshine and rare horizons at every viewpoint. I can not choose between these two trips as they both were equally great, but definitely the Torridon, Applecross was my most amazing day in Scotland so far. Our driver guide Emily and the group made the whole day even bigger and better. Emilys passion for Scotlands history, geology, geography, nature, etc.is fascinating and so moving. Her enthusiasm for Scottish nature and wildlife is huge! I love about Rabbies (amongst other things) that their guides are intellectual people. They are not those type of tour guides you can meet unfortunately at so many companies, who just learnt by heart some wikipedia articles and thats all. The tour guides at Rabbies are different in many ways, including they know the whole context of every cultural, historical, geographical information, so you can ask whatever you want from them, they can answer it. The tour crosses the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen in Scotland: beautiful sea lochs and fresh water lochs, huge and strong mountains, green forests, blue rivers. We had a very clear day so we could not only see Skye, but the Outer Hebrides. Also, we saw a lot of things in the nature that of course, no tour can guarantee, but the whole journey was like a Highland Safari, crossing beautiful scenery, visiting a beautiful Scots Pine forest, seeing beautiful highland animals. We had a great lunch together at a pub in Applecross, talked through the day, enjoyed the beauty that this less-populated, less known area can provide. At the end of the day we had a wee bit more than an hour to spend at the beautiful Eilean Donan Castle (you can either visit it or take a walk around the loch shore), then headed back to Inverness. I recommend from the bottom of my heart to everyone who loves Scotland to take this tour. If you already had visited Skye and you had loved it or if you could not book a Skye tour, choose this tour (it1s even more breathtaking than Skye). You wont be disappointed!
The UK and Ireland's historic city centres are full of narrow streets and winding roads. So, to speed up your departure, we only pick up from our central meeting points. What's more is leaving the city using the most direct route also reduces the carbon footprint of our tours.
We don't recommend bringing your car into the centre of our departure cities. It can be hard to find parking, and there are excellent public transportation services.
Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. Due to waiting restrictions, we can't wait for you if you're late.
If you're late for your tour, our cancellation policy applies.
We have a cancellation period of three days for our one day tours, and 21 days for longer tours. If cancelled outside this period, we'll give you a full refund minus a 10% admin charge. If you cancel inside this period, refunds are at our discretion. Click here to view full terms and conditions.
It's simple: you book, you go. This means we'll never cancel your tour because of a minimum numbers policy.
Due to logistical reasons, we're unable to let you pre-book a seat on the bus. But our comfortable 16-seat mini-coaches have huge windows. So, you'll always get a good view.
Unfortunately, we have no on-board toilet facilities, but you'll have regular comfort breaks.
We aim to accommodate everyone. To read more information on how we do this, click here to go to our accessibility guide.
We regret we don't carry children under the age of five on our scheduled tours.
You can ask us about the tours we recommend for younger children. And if your child is less than 1.35m tall, you should let us know, so we can provide them with a suitable booster seat.
We want you to enjoy Britain and Ireland. And we believe the best way to do this is to get you off the mini-coach and out exploring. So, we give you plenty of time to take photos, go walking, and explore ancient ruins.
We exclude visitor attractions in your tour price because it lets you travel your way. It means you can pamper yourself with a luxury lunch or skip an attraction whenever you feel like it.
You don't need to. We stop in small towns, villages, and rural eateries where you can choose whatever meal pleases both your taste buds and your budget.
Let's be honest, our driver-guides would never refuse a cheeky bonus. But it's up to you, and the amount is entirely at your discretion.
We advise you take out travel insurance.
You're protected by ABTOT when you chose to let us reserve your accommodation on a multi-day tour. This means you can claim back anything you've paid us if we become bankrupt. Read our terms and conditions for more information.
