Discover Scotland's most beautiful landscapes on this tour to the Outer Hebrides and Skye.
Cairngorms & Loch Ness - Gaze in awe at Scotland’s most beautifully rounded peaks. Take a chance to go on an optional boat cruise or wander around this alluring and eerie loch.
Lewis & Harris - These two parts with opposing landscapes make up the biggest island in Scotland.
Callanish standing stones - This mysterious monument is even older than Stonehenge.
White sands of Luskentyre - Walk along this phenomenal beach.
Isle of Skye - Traverse one of the world’s most stunning islands, with beautiful views around every corner.
Eilean Donan Castle - An iconic and gorgeous 13th century castle that once warded off Viking invasions.
You’ll be surprised at what you find in the Hebrides.
This large group of islands conceals beaches as beautiful and blonde as what you’d find in the Maldives. There are mysterious, religious sites older than the pyramids. And there are landscapes so ruggedly spectacular that you'll be rubbing your eyes in disbelief.
Join tour and be astounded by the local legends, spectacular sights, and curious culture of this incredible archipelago.
Students, seniors over 60, and children between 5 and 15 (unfortunately, we don't carry children under 5 years old)
You depart the cosmopolitan city of Edinburgh, journey past the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Forth Rail Bridge, and travel into the Highlands.
Your first stop of the day is in the village of Dunkeld. You get time here to stretch your legs and admire the cathedral’s unusual mixture of architectural styles.
You then venture through the shadows of the great and gorgeous Grampian Mountains and stop for lunch at a Highland town in the Spey Valley. Perhaps it’s time for you to try haggis.
After you’ve satisfied your taste buds, you head to Loch Ness. Your driver-guide helps you attempt to catch a glimpse of Scotland’s most-famously mythical monster.
Corrieshalloch Gorge is a lesser-known Scottish sight, but it’s one that you’ll love. It’s a short walk under forest canopies with a lovely view of a waterfall.
In the early evening, you arrive in the scenic fishing port of Ullapool for your overnight stay.
Wake up, enjoy your breakfast, and look out over Loch Broom as it glistens under the morning sky. First on the agenda today is a ferry journey across the sea.
This two and a half-hour boat trip takes you through the Summer Isles to Stornoway, the main town of the Western Isles. But don’t spend your time snoozing and reading as you sail across the ocean; because if you look out to sea, you may spot dolphins and whales.
Once you’ve arrived on Lewis and Harris, you head to the North West coast. Your driver-guide will make the most of what weather you’ve been blessed with and take you through traditional crofting towns and seaside ports. You even get to see the Butt of Lewis; from the light house here there’s nothing but fishes and water between you and America.
You spend the evening in Stornoway; a bustling port town and the home of Scotland’s most delicious black puddings.
Today, you immerse yourself in the history and landscapes of this wild island.
You first head to Arnol Blackhouse. Here, you can experience what traditional farming life was like in these remote reaches without getting your hands too dirty.
A little down the road, you visit the stone fort of Dun Carloway. This structure was built before 100AD and has experienced more battles than you’ve had hot dinners. It’s a wonderful location to ponder over the vast swathes of history that have come before you.
You then travel through a landscape littered with crofting villages to one of the most famous sights of the island, the Callanish Stone Circle. This prehistoric sight still mystifies archeologists today.
The rest of your afternoon is spent in the beautiful beaches and mountains of the western side of Lewis.
You head back to Stornoway in the late afternoon.
It’s time for something a little more dramatic. It’s time to enter the region of Harris.
Harris boasts the highest mountains in the Outer Hebrides and one of the most beautiful white-sandy beaches in Britain, Luskentyre.
The area is also famous for Harris Tweed and myths that are as strange as they are poignant.
After a morning of exploring the dramatic landscapes, you stop for lunch. Depending on the weather, we may even go for a picnic on the beach – so don’t forget to pack your sunglasses.
Your adventure continues on a ferry over the ocean to Portree, the largest town in Skye and your base for the next two evenings.
Every horizon in Skye conceals something astoundingly beautiful.
So today, your driver-guide makes the most out of your time on this marvel-studded landscape.
You may travel to the Quiraing mountain pass and enjoy a spectacular walk, venture to Kilt Rock and see a gigantic waterfall, or take a boat trip to the lesser-known Loch Coruisk.
After you’ve enjoyed the sights of Skye, you have your final evening in Portree. There are plenty of fabulous seafood restaurants to celebrate a fine day of exploring.
Don’t be too sad that your trip is ending today, because there are a lot of amazing things to check out on the way back to Edinburgh.
Once you’ve crossed the Skye Bridge, you get a chance to see Eilean Donan Castle. This classic combination of a sturdy-stone fortification perched upon a loch is about as Scottish a view as you can get. Just ensure you’ve got some room left on your camera to take photos.
You then travel under Britain’s tallest mountain, Ben Nevis. The peak of this mountain is likely to be shrouded high in the clouds.
Your driver-guide may become a little emotional as you move through the valley of Glencoe. This marvelously mountainous area was the site of one of the most tragic massacres in Scottish history. The story is as unforgettable as the landscape.
The hilly views become flatter as you enter the lowlands and travel to Edinburgh.
You arrive in the early evening.
Great 6 day trip with Donald. Didnt matter if it rained (in the whole of UK by the way) as lots of interesting stops. eg Carloway Harris Tweed showroom on Isle of Lewis with a weaving demonstration a working croft on Skye with Cheviot sheep and a couple of Highland Coos-a good stop to learn about wool and spinning the War Memorial to the brave men of Outer Hebrides Dinosaur Museum on Skye Peter MacAskill’s giant relation at his house on Skye the Blackhouse at Arnol. If youre English Heritage members, remember to take your card as many places accept them. Lovely friendly people who are a pleasure to chat to and happy to answer questions.
Fine travel guide and chauffeur very friendly and group very interesting with so much different profiles and origines Skye and Outer Hebrides are wild , beautiful and sometimes so empty that emptiness adds to their beauty in my point of view...lands like no others Great moments in wonderful and different landscapes ( beaches, hills, glens ...) and also moments of history ( and prehistory) also Finally a rich human and cultural experience !
The tour to the Outer Hebrides Skye with Mahri was amazing fun, jaw dropping scenery and so many laughs.
We just completed the six day tour of Skye and the Outer Hebrides with Keith Fraser. Keith kept sixteen of us entertained with his knowledge, his love of whisky and music. We were able to visit lots of out of the way sites unreachable by a larger bus tour in order to make this a more meorable experience for us. Our only concern was the lack of places to eat in Stornoway, Ullapool, and Portree unless you had a reservation. When we arrived at our B and B at 6:00 or after in the evening, it was difficult to find somewhere to eat as we didnt have those necessary reservations and our group had to resort to shopping at the local grocery store for a Scottish picnic in our rooms. Perhaps reservations could be made in future by the tour drivers in advance to prevent this from happening. We were very happy with our accommodations and our hosts did all they could to make us feel at home. We look forward to taking another Rabbies tour in the future.
What a wonderful tour this was! I have been to the outer Hebrides before but there are always new things to experience and new places to visit. Our guide Keith Fraser was outstanding. I had been on tour with him before so I knew I was in good hands. His friendliness was exceptional. He did his utmost to give us a memorable tour. Weather varied a bit but that is Scotland in a nutshell. Most of the time the weather was quite good, but when we visited the Butt of Lewis there was a proper downpour. On the second day on Lewis Keith took us to see a few places I have not been to before but my favourite stop this day was undoubtedly Bosta Beach on Great Bernera. I suggested this stop and I was very happy when it turned out to be a good place to visit. In the evening he took those of us who wanted it back to Callanish to experience the celebration of the summer solstice. Very enjoyable! The following day we headed south to Harris and the beautiful Luskentyre beach. This is one of my favourite places in Scotland and I was thrilled to be back again. This year I even went for a paddle because the weather was so nice. Water was chilly but I loved the experience. After touring Harris we headed for Skye by ferry. I like Skye but I must admit I prefer Lewis and Harris. The outer Hebrides have just a very special charm. When we headed back to Edinburgh the weather got better the further south we got, and for the first time I got to see Glencoe in sunshine. Keith just seemed to tick off boxes left, right and center – new places to see, Luskentyre in sunshine, Glencoe in sunshine, the Kelpies etc. He was simply brilliant. So once again thank you for an absolutely awesome tour!
Last year I booked two of the five day tours with Rabbies - The Orkneys and the Mull, Iona, Staffa and Skye. Both were terrific, great mixture of scenery, history, folklore and introductions to the local way of life. Last week I went on the 6 Day Outer Hebrides Tour - if anything, it was even better! Everything you advertised was covered despite some inclement weather (Storm Hector!), fantastic scenery, neolithic sites, wonderful beaches and stories of the Croft Wars which are of a particular interest of mine. The Blackhouses of Lewis were very interesting, a way of life that has all but disappeared. The history aspect of Rabbies Tours have always been a bonus point for me - love it! The company on the bus were terrific, very warm and friendly, all nationalities. Special thanks must go to our driver/guide Chris - nothing was any trouble to him, historical aspect to his stories was first class, also enjoyed the folklore tales although Im not sure I believed them all!
It was our 5th Rabbies tour, so we have some experience to share, and the Outer Hebrides tour with our guide Alan was the best of them all! He is a warmhearted person and the most fabulous storyteller one could imagine and took us on a time journey to feel in the midst of all the kings, wars, and how the life was during those centuries. Everything was topped with the most beautiful and wild scenery on the Isle of Lewis and Harris as well as many historical important spots like the blackhouses or the atmospheric Callanish Standing stones. After that we visited Skye, and it was a huge contrast to the wild and lonely Lewis and Harris. The itinerary of the whole tour couldnt be better than it already is. We loved Scotland before, but now it owns a big part of our hearts. Thank you so much, Alan and Rabbies! We had the best UK vacation ever with you!

We left on this tour June 20th and for the next 6 days you could not have done better than being in the hands of our driver/guide Matt K. He was a wonderful guide and he opened our eyes to the beauty, the history, and the myths of this wonderful country. From day 1 we knew that we had picked the right tour company with Rabbies, the bus size alone made the tour so pleasant. We had 13 other fellow travellers and by the end of the first day we felt like we were amongst old friends. The whole group Matt just clicked, it was a great feeling. The BBs that we stayed at were very clean and homey with friendly hosts great breakfasts. The scenery and the stops we made were all fantastic. There was just the right amount of talking, music, stops and things to do along the way to keep everyone wide awake and entertained. Matt asked if we had any special reasons for taking the tour and I mentioned that my Moms family were MacLeods, originally from Skye, and low and behold on Skye Matt took us to Dunvegan Castle and I was able to sign the MacLeod registry - a very special moment for me! To anyone considering a tour with Rabbies I would say dont hesitate for a moment, you wont be disappointed.
We had an amazing journey! Was the best tour I have ever taken. Our guide Karen was the BEST! So much knowledge and funny too. She made our trip very comfortable and FUN. Scotland has the most beautiful sights. Loved the beaches, looked like the belonged in the Bahamas. All of it was my favorite! We had 13 people on the van and we made friends with them all. We exchanges emails to keep in touch. I think I have made some lifelong friends thanks to Rabbies !

The UK and Ireland's historic city centres are full of narrow streets and winding roads. So, to speed up your departure, we only pick up from our central meeting points. What's more is leaving the city using the most direct route also reduces the carbon footprint of our tours.
We don't recommend bringing your car into the centre of our departure cities. It can be hard to find parking, and there are excellent public transportation services.
Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. Due to waiting restrictions, we can't wait for you if you're late.
If you're late for your tour, our cancellation policy applies.
We have a cancellation period of three days for our one day tours, and 21 days for longer tours. If cancelled outside this period, we'll give you a full refund minus a 10% admin charge. If you cancel inside this period, refunds are at our discretion. Click here to view full terms and conditions.
It's simple: you book, you go. This means we'll never cancel your tour because of a minimum numbers policy.
Due to logistical reasons, we're unable to let you pre-book a seat on the bus. But our comfortable 16-seat mini-coaches have huge windows. So, you'll always get a good view.
Unfortunately, we have no on-board toilet facilities, but you'll have regular comfort breaks.
We aim to accommodate everyone. To read more information on how we do this, click here to go to our accessibility guide.
We regret we don't carry children under the age of five on our scheduled tours.
You can ask us about the tours we recommend for younger children. And if your child is less than 1.35m tall, you should let us know, so we can provide them with a suitable booster seat.
We want you to enjoy Britain and Ireland. And we believe the best way to do this is to get you off the mini-coach and out exploring. So, we give you plenty of time to take photos, go walking, and explore ancient ruins.
We exclude visitor attractions in your tour price because it lets you travel your way. It means you can pamper yourself with a luxury lunch or skip an attraction whenever you feel like it.
You don't need to. We stop in small towns, villages, and rural eateries where you can choose whatever meal pleases both your taste buds and your budget.
Let's be honest, our driver-guides would never refuse a cheeky bonus. But it's up to you, and the amount is entirely at your discretion.
We advise you take out travel insurance.
You're protected by ABTOT when you chose to let us reserve your accommodation on a multi-day tour. This means you can claim back anything you've paid us if we become bankrupt. Read our terms and conditions for more information.
