Route

Tag 1

Route (English)

Day 1

You leave Edinburgh and head north across the River Forth towards the Highlands.

You make a short stop in one of the quintessential Scottish towns bordering the highland fault line, before crossing into the Cairngorms National Park.

There are numerous options on route including a famous whisky distillery, stunning caledonian forest walks, ancient standing stones, world-changing battlefields, and beautiful lochs. What you do today will be decided by your group and the ever- changing Scottish climate. Ample time for lunch will be given en route.

You then continue north and arrive in Inverness, where you’re dropped off at your accommodation.

The evening is free for you to explore the capital of the Highlands.

Day 2

After a leisurely breakfast you’re picked up from your accommodation and taken into the surrounding countryside.

You travel to Loch Ness where you have the chance to take a boat trip (April - October) along the loch or stay on shore and visit the impressive ruins of Urquhart castle overlooking the loch.

Our journey continues south through the Great Glen past Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in UK and Fort William. You stop for lunch along the way before arriving in Glencoe.

The return journey continues over the wild and remote Rannoch Moor and into the lowland scenery around Stirling, before finally reaching our starting point of Edinburgh.

Amazing Grace with Graham

Trailrunner10 Posted on 18/10/2019

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent two-day tour of the Highlands with Graham. Despite the rain, the incredible scenery of Scotland amazed and renewed us. Tour guide Graham added to the magic with his always interesting narratives and knowledge of the history of Scotland. His thoughtful and varied playlist of Scottish music brought a soulful touch to the tour. Kudos Graham. we would recommend it to anyone.

Absolutely loved our tour and tour guide

First off, thank you so much rabbies for running such a smooth and delightful operation. It was an absolute treat to see Scotland this way. Second, our tour guide Gillian was absolutely amazing. She was so sweet, knowledgeable and personable. I took to heart everything she shared about Scotland, and appreciated her openness to share her own personal feelings and anecdotes about the places we visited. Gillian is truly a kindred spirit, and it was a pleasure to speak with her about music and whisky! During this trip, we stopped at so many beautiful places. I had the opportunity to buy whisky that you can only get in Pitlochry, I ran several miles at the Falls of Bruar, as well as in Inverness and I met so many wonderful people on and throughout the tour. Glencoe is truly a place beyond words. I was actually really car sick that entire second day, but when we reached Glencoe, I was literally knocked to my knees at the beauty of it all. Despite feeling sick, I walked around, breathed in the cold air and laid on the ground, sinking into the vastness of that magical place. I am also very grateful we visited Loch Morlich, which I didnt know was a natural beach. My grandmothers love for the beach and bodies of water have distilled in me the same serenity whenever Im near the water, so I could not pass up the opportunity to jump in, even on a rainy Scotland day. When I told Gillian that it was in part to honor my grandmother, she completely understood and told me my grandma would be proud. Im extremely grateful for the small gesture of support in that moment, and it made the whole experience truly indescribable. As a writer though, I have put that experience into words. If youre open to exploring beautiful scenery, meeting wonderful people and learning a little about yourself in the process, I highly recommend rabbies tours, especially if Gillian is driving!

July 29 2019- Our family of 4 had a spectacular 2 day tour with Nick A and William D. William, our driver greeted us in a full traditional kilt- nice touch by the way!! These two provided a great time stopping at all of the sights on the way up to Inverness and back with plenty of great story telling and visiting unique spots. We had beautiful rooms in Inverness at the Dalmore Guest House. Both fellows were fun and accommodated all of our requests- Whiskey sampling, the Clava Cairns, Loch Ness, the Urquhart Castle, Culloden Battle field the Hairy Coos, and plenty of time to view the beautiful highland mountain scenery and other Lochs along the way. Our two teen boys enjoyed the trip and are still talking about the history and legends that Nick told us about along the way- we cant thank you enough! Our hope is to return soon! Team USA!

Wonderful tour of the Highlands

David Janet Lavery Posted on 03/04/2019

This was our first coach tour and we were VERY impressed with everything. Our tour guide was Aaron who was very knowledgeable, relaxed and amusing. Taking the weather forecast into consideration and with agreement from the tour members Aaron took the decision to reverse the itinerary so that the keen photographers in the group had the optimal conditions for their photos. This was a really good decision and we had a wonderful time. The accommodation Rabbies booked for us was very clean, comfortable and welcoming. We would recommend them thoroughly as they went the extra mile to make a really good tour.

Honestly and truly one of the most wonderful experiences I’ve ever had. It may sound quite dramatic but it is true.. Our guide was Alan, and man did this guy know his stuff! So easy going and even when I was late he was super understanding! I loved everything about this tour, every little stop.It honestly broke my heart to leave Scotland behind but the memories from this short but beautiful tour will stay with me. :) cannot wait to do another tour with Rabbies!

That Roland Sure is Something

Josh Hamilton Posted on 20/07/2018

I had such a wonderful time on this trip that I cant wait to head back over and take another. The Scottish Highlands are positively breathtaking and Roland knew exactly how and where to prove that to us. I could go into details about the rolling and craggy mountains that would be perfectly visible miles in the distance or the way low cloud cover increasingly obscured them, making them mysterious and enchanting, but Id rather just tell you about Rolands exploits at Loch Ness. We stopped at a convenient little place where we could dip our toes in the shore of the Loch and while we were all standing water side and marveling at the incredible picturesque vista before us, Roland stripped off his shirt, threw it into the wind, and waded deep out into the Loch before diving below the surface. Not knowing if this was standard tour business or something the locals routinely did, no one protested as our tour guide and bus driver disappeared below the clear, cold water. Though after two or three minutes, we began to worry that something had gone amiss or, god forbid, Nessie had in fact appeared and whisked him away. But LO! See now the bubbles that rise to the top and grow in frequency. More and more turbulent the waters became before the long neck of what could only be compared to as a dinosaur neck sprouted from the surface, rising twenty feet in the air and turning to stare directly at us-with Roland perched atop her head. He tapped his foot once upon the beasts head and out of the water appeared a fin, that lazily waved at us, before the whole of the great beast turned, and swam back into the depths. Roland also has a very lovely singing voice.

FAQs

Do you offer hotel pickups in the departure cities?

The UK and Ireland's historic city centres are full of narrow streets and winding roads. So, to speed up your departure, we only pick up from our central meeting points. What's more is leaving the city using the most direct route also reduces the carbon footprint of our tours.

Is there parking close to the departure point?

We don't recommend bringing your car into the centre of our departure cities. It can be hard to find parking, and there are excellent public transportation services.

When should I get to the departure point?

Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. Due to waiting restrictions, we can't wait for you if you're late.

What happens if I'm late or miss the tour?

If you're late for your tour, our cancellation policy applies.

What are your cancellation policies?

We have a cancellation period of three days for our one day tours, and 21 days for longer tours. If cancelled outside this period, we'll give you a full refund minus a 10% admin charge. If you cancel inside this period, refunds are at our discretion. Click here to view full terms and conditions.

What is a guaranteed departure?

It's simple: you book, you go. This means we'll never cancel your tour because of a minimum numbers policy.

Can I pre-book a specific seat?

Due to logistical reasons, we're unable to let you pre-book a seat on the bus. But our comfortable 16-seat mini-coaches have huge windows. So, you'll always get a good view.

Are there toilets on the bus?

Unfortunately, we have no on-board toilet facilities, but you'll have regular comfort breaks.

How do you cater for people with accessibility needs?

We aim to accommodate everyone. To read more information on how we do this, click here to go to our accessibility guide.

Do you take children on your tours?

We regret we don't carry children under the age of five on our scheduled tours.

You can ask us about the tours we recommend for younger children. And if your child is less than 1.35m tall, you should let us know, so we can provide them with a suitable booster seat.

How much time do I get off the bus?

We want you to enjoy Britain and Ireland. And we believe the best way to do this is to get you off the mini-coach and out exploring. So, we give you plenty of time to take photos, go walking, and explore ancient ruins.

Why do you exclude visitor attractions?

We exclude visitor attractions in your tour price because it lets you travel your way. It means you can pamper yourself with a luxury lunch or skip an attraction whenever you feel like it.

Do we need to bring our own lunch?

You don't need to. We stop in small towns, villages, and rural eateries where you can choose whatever meal pleases both your taste buds and your budget.

Should I tip the driver-guide?

Let's be honest, our driver-guides would never refuse a cheeky bonus. But it's up to you, and the amount is entirely at your discretion.

What about travel insurance?

We advise you take out travel insurance.

What is ABTOT?

You're protected by ABTOT when you chose to let us reserve your accommodation on a multi-day tour. This means you can claim back anything you've paid us if we become bankrupt. Read our terms and conditions for more information.

I have more questions, who can help me?
