We had a wonderful tour from Edinburgh to the Lake District. Our guide, Jude, was outstanding. She was quite knowledgeable, a gifted storyteller, and had a wonderful and diverse music selection. Although not as wild as Scotlands Highlands, there are great scenery, hiking, and places of interest in the Lake District. The Castlerigg Stone Circle was much more impressive than the photos we had seen before our tour. Touring when the heather was in bloom made the hillsides extra beautiful and reminded us of our visits to the Highlands. An added benefit was our unscheduled visits to Hadrians Wall, Vindolanda, and Jedburgh Abbey. Our hosts and accommodations at Grassmoor Guesthouse in Keswick were wonderful. All of our previous tours with Rabbies have been excellent. While we have focused on Scotland, the Lake District tour was great and a bit different from our other tours. This was a great introduction to the Lake District and the southern border of Scotland.
On a side note: this is a tour of the lake district that does not include a stop at Hadrians Wall. Had a fantastic time touring the lake district in mid May. Our guide was James and he was brilliant. Gave us the history of places along the way, interesting stories and how things are now. I love this sort of stuff so it was great. We had a small group and several of us stayed in the same accommodation. James was attentive and really took care of us. Great guide. We were lucky and had sunny weather for most of the trip (rained a bit on and off the last day). The lake district was so beautiful and scenic and peaceful. We had some good time off the coach for picture stops and to walk around, including areas where sheep were (there were a lot of sheep everywhere). Keswick was a good place to stay in (Yew Tree House BB - Bob was a fantastic host). Really thoroughly enjoyed this tour.
We're a family of four from Singapore. We booked two tours with Rabbie's on the internet - the Whiskey & Highlands Tour (3 May) and the Lake District Tour (7 - 9 May). We are indeed delighted with the service we received from its two two resentatives, Alan and Mav respectively. Both gentlemen were knowledgeable, service-oriented and friendly. We learnt so much about your beautiful country from them. We had such a great time that we have already informed our friends and relatives back home to travel with Rabbie's when they visit Scotland. Well done Rabbie's!
We joined 2D1N to Bath and Oxford, and 3D2N to Isle of Skye. It was very good! The place, the service provided by our tour guide cum driver, and etc. Especially to Isle of skye, We were constantly entertained by Gus throughout the journey with his music, story-telling, his driving skills, politeness, and etc. Everything is just so, so, so good!
We went on the 3 day tour to the Lake District and Hadrian's Wall with Pete. Pete was an excellent guide, historian and storyteller, and he made sure that we all had a fabulous tour.
A great time! Hallo you all in Edinburgh. Sorry, I couldn't write earlier because work caught me faster than I had expected. My daughter Jana and me went on the 3 Day tour down to Hadrian's Wall and the Lake District. What a great tour with our guide Peter! He was very friendly, helpful and not bored by answering my endless questions. It was a tour through an amazing countryside, through Scottish history. We learned a lot and were able to recreate in places we would never have seen on our own. Autumn is a wonderful time: all the bright colours and the peaceful places without any hustle and bustle. Back to Edinburgh we had another day to spend. What to do because we saw a lot last year on our trips to the western Highlands and Loch Ness and on our stay in Edinburgh? Having passed your office, we decided to ask for a day tour. And we got one to St. Andrews. Thanks to Sarah who took us there and made our Scotland experience perfect. We are planning to come back next year to explore either the Isle of Skye or the Orkney Islands. Scotland has us calm in its hand.
Wow –we had three wonderful days – 24 – 26 Aug. My sister and I have just returned from the 3 day English Lake District Tour with Ally. We admired Ally’s knowledge of the geology of the Lake District, the history and relevant dates, all told with a lot of humour. He is a mine of information, history, poetry, geology, music etc. We learned a lot and laughed a lot. It was great. The group consisted of a wide variety of nationalities and ages but Ally managed to get everybody involved and nobody felt ‘alone’. If you have not seen the English Lake District, book a tour with Rabbies and I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. A big thank you to Ally and to Rabbies. Hope to see you again next year.
Ally Rocks.. comments anyone?
I just had gr8 tour at lake district....our guide Ally was soooo good and he got excellent knowledge of everything...and he is funny aswell..i would love to go to another tour with him...this is my second tour with ribbie's.... and i can say rabbie's is the best of the best...i will definitely coming back to scotland again and next time and and and of course i will take rabbie's tour again. The UK and Ireland's historic city centres are full of narrow streets and winding roads. So, to speed up your departure, we only pick up from our central meeting points. What's more is leaving the city using the most direct route also reduces the carbon footprint of our tours.
We don't recommend bringing your car into the centre of our departure cities. It can be hard to find parking, and there are excellent public transportation services.
Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. Due to waiting restrictions, we can't wait for you if you're late.
If you're late for your tour, our cancellation policy applies.
We have a cancellation period of 48 hours for our one day tours, 15 days for two to nine day tours, and 21 days for 10+ day tours. If cancelled outside this period, we'll give you a full refund minus a 10% admin charge. If you cancel inside this period, refunds are at our discretion. Click here to view full terms and conditions.
It's simple: you book, you go. This means we'll never cancel your tour because of a minimum numbers policy.
Due to logistical reasons, we're unable to let you pre-book a seat on the bus. But our comfortable 16-seat mini-coaches have huge windows. So, you'll always get a good view.
Unfortunately, we have no on-board toilet facilities, but you'll have regular comfort breaks.
We aim to accommodate everyone. To read more information on how we do this, click here to go to our accessibility guide.
We regret we don't carry children under the age of five on our scheduled tours.
You can ask us about the tours we recommend for younger children. And if your child is less than 1.35m tall, you should let us know, so we can provide them with a suitable booster seat.
We want you to enjoy Britain and Ireland. And we believe the best way to do this is to get you off the mini-coach and out exploring. So, we give you plenty of time to take photos, go walking, and explore ancient ruins.
We exclude visitor attractions in your tour price because it lets you travel your way. It means you can pamper yourself with a luxury lunch or skip an attraction whenever you feel like it.
You don't need to. We stop in small towns, villages, and rural eateries where you can choose whatever meal pleases both your taste buds and your budget.
Let's be honest, our driver-guides would never refuse a cheeky bonus. But it's up to you, and the amount is entirely at your discretion.
We advise you take out travel insurance.
You're protected by ABTOT when you chose to let us reserve your accommodation on a multi-day tour. This means you can claim back anything you've paid us if we become bankrupt. Read our terms and conditions for more information.
