Durant cette journée vous pourrez visiter l’abbaye cistercienne de Melrose, le lieu de sépulture du coeur de Robert Bruce, qui fut ramené des croisades dans l’Espagne mauresque, ainsi que le meilleur des Borders écossaises et du Northumberland.
Traversez la frontière à Coldstream , après un bon déjeuner passez l’après-midi dans le Château d’Alnwick et ses jardins: il a été le lieu de tournage des deux premiers films de Harry Potter. Vous rentrerez ensuite à Edimbourg en suivant la spectaculaire côte orientale du Berwickshire et de l’East Lothian. Au passage vous vous arrêterez dansl’ancienne ville fortifiée de Berwick on Tweed.

The tour guide was brilliant. A very nice man, extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He was also a very safe driver, very clear about what we could expect. Was available for questions, and displayed a passion and thorough knowledge of Scottish history that just made me want to listen to every word. He truly made the experience memorable.

I thoroughly enjoyed this excellent tour, led by the excellent tour guide Al, who was fun and full of information. The tour began with a drive through the very picturesque Scottish Borders to the first stop in Melrose. Here we visited the ruins of the once great Abbey and also the gravestone where Robert the Bruce’s heart is buried. Soon after leaving the pretty town of Melrose we arrived at the Scotland/England border, which we crossed on foot, walking over the River Tweed Coldstream Bridge (erected 1763-1766). Al then made a special trip, at my request, to visit the Flodden Battlefield and memorial to the thousands who died on 9th September 1513. The next visit was to Alnwick, where we had several hours to have lunch and visit themagnificent Norman Castle, stately home and filming site of 2 Harry Potter movies. On the way back to Edinburgh we made a short stop in Berwick and then in Dunbar to see the ruins of the Castle which has connections to Mary Queen of Scots. Overall this is an excellent tour for those who love Scottish history, Castles and beautiful countryside.

Living in Edinburgh I've travelled to all the locations covered in the tour and fancied being ferried for a change. I was particularly looking forward to being fed the history and local colour that, as a native, you can sometimes lose in the distant sands of time. I wasn't disappointed. Euan was a knowledgeable, friendly and amusing; exactly what I'd been hoping for.

Highly recommendable day trip - especially with such a competent tour guide as ours: Eric, the Bloodaxe of Viking origins :)) - I did the trip together with my daughers (16 and almost 14) and we all thoroughly enjoyed each stop, the fantastic landscape as well as Eric's singing talent!
