Full Tour Itinerary (English)
Depart Edinburgh 8.15 am and travel northwest past Linlithgow palace, birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, and Stirling Castle. Stirling castle was once known as the 'Key to Scotland', with its imposing position in the centre of the country. To the north is the 220ft high tower of the National Wallace Monument commemorating Scotland's great hero William Wallace, played by Mel Gibson in the Oscar-winning movie Braveheart.

You pass close to the scene of Wallace's greatest triumph, the battle of Stirling Bridge, where he defeated the English army in 1297. To the south is Bannockburn where, in 1314, the great Scottish warrior-king Robert the Bruce defeated the English army of Edward II, restoring independence for Scotland. A little further on you will make a short stop for coffee at Callander, the 'frontier town' on the edge of the Highlands. Crossing the Highland boundary fault line the scenery changes quickly and dramatically, the flat fertile plains of the lowlands giving way to shimmering lochs, rugged mountain tops and forest-filled glens. It's easy to forget that this was once thought of as a dangerous frontier, fought over by the fiercely territorial Highland clans such as the MacGregors, and made famous by highland folk hero, Rob Roy MacGregor.

Travelling north through Breadalbane (meaning the 'High Country of Scotland'), you climb towards the wild desolation of Rannoch Moor. At an altitude of over 1000ft, covered by heather and peat-bogs and dotted with dozens of lochs, it's an unique landscape. This contrasts with the spectacular mountain scenery as you pass the majestic peak of Buachaille Etive Mor (meaning 'the great shepherd of Etive') and down into Scotland's most famous valley, Glencoe. Stunningly beautiful, with its dramatic cliff faces and steep slopes, Glencoe is infamous as the site of the Glencoe massacre in 1692. Following orders from King William, Scottish soldiers under the leadership of Captain Robert Campbell slaughtered 38 men, women and children of the Macdonald clan. This was especially shocking as the soldiers had been living with the people of Glencoe for 2 weeks and killed them in their own homes. Noone was ever punished for this crime, as the King himself had signed the order, but because it was murder under trust, the Highlands would never be the same again. Beyond Glencoe you will enter the Great Glen, a deep glacial valley following a geological fault line.

Passing through the town of Fort William you drive under Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis before arriving at Fort Augustus on the southern shore of Loch Ness. At 23 miles long and over 700ft deep it's the largest loch by volume in Scotland and contains more water than every lake in England and Wales combined! The loch is best known for the legendary sightings of the Loch Ness Monster ("Nessie") and you can take the opportunity of a boat cruise* on the loch to go in search of the monster, or simply to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Fort Augustus is a pretty little town in its own right, the Caledonian Canal which links the lochs of the Great Glen dominates the town and makes a great place to relax and watch the boats sail by. You will stop here for nearly 2 hours to give you time for lunch and take in the scenery around Scotland's most famous loch.

From Loch Ness you head south through the mountains of the Cairngorms National Park. Your route takes us alongside Loch Laggan (the setting for the BBC series 'Monarch of the Glen'), over the Drumochter Pass (1500ft above sea level) and past 13th century Blair Castle, ancestral home of the Duke of Atholl. Your next stop is the Highland resort town of Pitlochry, built on Victorian tourism and nestled amongst the mountains of Highland Perthshire. After Pitlochry, you continue south through the forests of Perthshire, famous as Macbeth country, and past Perth itself. Perth was the medieval capital of Scotland, where for hundreds of years Scottish monarchs were crowned at nearby Scone Palace. South of Perth you drive past Loch Leven, where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned by her Protestant nobles, before escaping to England where she was eventually executed by her cousin Elizabeth I. Then it is over the famous Forth Bridge before returning to Edinburgh.

Return time - Approx 20.00.

My husband and I spent only three days in Scotland. We stayed in Edinburgh but looked into this sort of trip for a one-day tour of the Highlands. We went on the Loch Ness/Glencoe one-day tour. It was phenomenal from beginning to end. Our tour guide (Sarah) was just as excited about Scotland as we were, and had so much information to share. She even stopped at a couple of extra places that weren't marked on the itinerary. It was worth every dime and then some; easily the best money we spent during the entire time we were in Scotland. I would do this sort of tour again in a heartbeat and would easily recommend it to anyone. It is easy to book, easy to find the departure place in Edinburgh, and such a wonderful and efficient way of seeing a lot of Scotland in a short amount of time. PLEASE put a trip like this on your Scotland itinerary!

Hi there, I just wish to thank Rabbie´s & my tour guide Sara for making my 34th birthday so fantastic. My friend and I went on the Loch Ness, Glencoe & Highlands day trip on saturday and we both totally enjoyed ourselves. I particularly enjoyed Sara´s jokes and im hoping to join a longer one your trips in the near future and explore the Highlands. Ill be raising my glass to you every time I have a glass of Laphroaig from now. Kind regards Rod Pearson

We would like a bit more information about the 1 day tour versus the two day Loch Ness tour. What has been people's experience with staying overnight on the two day. Did they feel there was too much time spent enroute?

Our Glencoe & Highlands Tour was truly a memorable & marvelously captivating experience! It was so indescribably beautiful!!! Pete Callaghan was the perfect guide. Being both driver, guide & entertainer, his brilliant wit & effortless narratives thoroughly fast tracked our priceless appreciation for Scotland. Ab-solutely entertaining all the way. To Rabbie's & Pete our sincerest thanks! CHEERS!

My wife, myself, and 18-year-old granddaughter had a terrific time on our tour with Roland on 23rd July. In addition to the beautiful sights and scenery, we were kept entertained by Roland's entertaining and informative commentary and well-selected, eclectic music. I hate to say it. but Roland is such a talented entertainer, Rabbies may lose him to a career in show business. With this in mind you may want to increase his salary.

This was one of the best tour of my life! Our Guide/driver was Micheal and he was excellent!I really enjoyed a lot.If you are on a short trip to Edinburgh you must experience this!RABBIES ROCKS!!!!!!!

Thanks to Shelby! We were excellently informed about Scottish history, traditions and typical words. She talked really excitingly about her home country and so we totally enjoyed our trip. Furthermore, she chose very fine music during the tour. it was a pleasure to travel with her.

Just wanted to say that we had a fabulous day with Sara, and wished that it didn't have to end. Sara was very personable, witty and full of knowledge about the different areas that we visited. We recommend Rabbie's 100% to anyone who is interested in going out on tours. You won't be dissapointed!

Hi! I would like to say great thanks to Roland - our guide and driver, who showed me and my family amazing Highland and Loch Ness at June14th. He did his best to provide the best trip I eved had!

We had an absolutely wonderful time on the one day tour. Shelby was fantastic. Loads of interesting stories, great music choices....we only had 3 days in Scotland and are so glad we used up one of our days on the tour! We were sad to leave Shelby at the end of the tour...would of loved to have her show us all over Edinburgh as her knowledge of the city is terrific. I am sure she'd also be a pretty great drinking buddy as well!

My wife Susanne and I went on a tour in March 2008 with Alec. Best tour we had in the month we spent in the UK. Alec had a quick wit, great stories and a character that just kept going....."oi marie, what ya doin in there..."(bangs on window). Hope Alec is doing well, we'll be back, hope you're still there. Best Tour we have had yet! When I think of Scotland I can't help but think of Alec and Rabbies!

this was an excellent tour! sarah mckenzie was an upbeat, informative, and kind guide. she provided us with friendliness, driving music, quirky anecdotes, snacks, and her own personal touches to make a long drive very enjoyable. we saw the unspoiled beauty of loch ness, glencoe, and the highlands, all in one day. there was plenty of time for pictures, lunch, a boat ride, and stops in small towns. the bus was extremely comfortable as were our fellow travelers. thanks, rabbie and sarah--you're the best!

Posted on 25/05/2010
I was last one to get on the bus n got a special seat next to Ross which was really lucky. Enjoying the view alongside the lake with some music was great fun. While we stopped at Glencoe, Ross made us laugh by showing up with his clown hat on!!!! haha~ Thank you! I would never forget this special day tour with you all! All the best to you, Ross! :D

Hi Rabbie's!! Well, me and my partner went on two of the tours: Loch Ness on the 10th May Lomond and Stirling Castle on the 11th May Both were excellent and we had a great time but i have to say that the Loch Ness with Allie (hope I got his name right) was one the best experiences we've ever had in a trip. Edinburgh is a fantastic and amazing city and everyone was so kind and friendly that we left wishing to come back as soon as we can. Rabbie's was suggested by the hotel manager and it was indeed a great experience, you are most skilled professionals, polite, kind, friendly and made us feel 'at home'. Allie is a fantastci guide, knows how to handle people, leaves you free and comfortable and has a impressive knowledge of the local and general history, it felts like we were actually seeing those past days and people in front of us. It was a great experience and i sure reccomend it to all of you who wants to visit Scotland, this great country. If you do, make no mistake: go Rabbie's, they know what to do and how to do!!! And make also sure that your guide is Allie, why refrain from having the best? It's worthy every cent and minute of your time!! Warm regards from Brazil to all of you from Rabbie's!!!!!

4 of us did this tour on 14th may. Helen Mcnab was awesome as our driver and guide. She was the best I have ever had anywhere!!... And I have travelled quite a bit across europe, USA, africa and asia. Her energy is what differentiates her from the rest. Keep rocking Helen. :)

The tour to Loch Ness was amazing. Our guide Bob was very friendly, we learnt many things, saw beautiful scenery and had a good laugh many times as well since Bob has a great sense of humour. Our driver Sarah is also a very pleasant person and we felt really safe on the bus. We felt like among friends! We definitely can recommend this tour to everybody! It was the highlight of our stay in Edinburgh. If you would like to explore the beauty of the Highlands this is the right tip for you. Thank you for this unforgettable trip, Bob and Sarah! the French man in the kilt:)) and his Czech girlfriend

What a wonderful day with "Mac" and my history has been updated and I learned so much about Scotland in such a short time Came to Kirkaldy to trace my Mother's heritage and after your tour just want to come back for more. Mac you were a wonderful tour guide and your passion for your country and the enviroment was admirable. Just wish I could say Loch like you do and retell the joke about the man who lost his memory and got a job in the circus the way you did !!! Congratulations and thanks for a wonderful and memorable day.

Thanks, for everything. It was a trip that we will remember forever. I, personally, fell in love with the Highlands. Our guide, Ally, was incredible! Keep on the good work!

Posted on 16/04/2010
This tour was absolutely amazing. It was my first time to Scotland and I really wanted to see the countryside. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It is not very expensive and is well worth the price. I highly recommend this tour!

Posted on 16/04/2010
We had a great tour from David. He was knowledgeable about so much Scottish history and even recommended a book for us to read when asked. The music was lovely. We will certainly be back to spend more time in Scotland and traveling by coach made our trip very relaxing.

Posted on 10/04/2010
Perfect tour. Very interesting and the guide Ally was great. He knows everything about everything and he is really friendly.

John is a lot of fun as a tour guide. Good amount of information, anecdotes, and entertaining music (esp. Gaelic Storm) I recommend him highly. Had a great time, and remarkable weather for March.

Hello there, We were for 4 days in Edinburgh, and the best day was the Tour!! Marvelous views and a great Tourguide -->> Helen!! Helen, thanks for your enthusiastic talks about Schotland's history during the ride! Amazing how many heads are chopped off :-) If we come back to Edinburgh in the future, we do another Tour with you! Enjoy the pics! Gr33tz from the Netherlands, p.s. Helen: do you have Facebook or something like that? You can add me there: Peter Posma or peterposma@yahoo.com

The scenery in the highlands was absolutely stunning! We had a great tour guide Ali! Probably my favorite part of the whole trip was stopping by Loch Lochy. According to Ali, he doesn't usually stop there but as we drove through, the mirrored image of the snow-capped mountains on the lake was too gorgeous to resist. So Ali made sure that we stopped...and I am glad we did! Thanks for the awesome tour!

Posted on 26/03/2010
Thanks! When education is presented in an amusing way it becomes inspiring. Thanks for a wonderful tour. Gunnar and Björg

Posted on 22/03/2010
Thought I'd post a few more photos from our awesome tour of the Highlands.

Posted on 19/03/2010
My husband and I have traveled all over the world, and have experienced a guide singing " Hey, Jude," when we were in China, and a guide in Greece who was very well educated but made me fall asleep and feel like I was in 7th grade again However, we were lucky to meet up with CARYN in Scotland and our tour to see Nessie in Loch Ness was terrific and I left with a wonderful appreciation of Scottish history and I wanted to learn more- Our only regret was that we had to leave for Dublin the next day and could not do the Whisky tour with her- CARYN was a highlight of our trip and set a high standard for tour guides. Thank you!!!!!

Posted on 16/03/2010
We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day for this tour. The weather was gorgeous and Ally was a great guide. Thanks!

Posted on 10/03/2010
My self and a friend were on the 08/03/10 day trip of Lock Ness,Glencoe and the Highlands and speaking for myself I have to say that it was by far the best day trip that I have ever been on. The mini bus was very comfortable and being a part of a small party (16 people max) rather than being hearded onto a big coach made it much more personal. Our Driver/Guide was Ally and if you are lucky enough to get him on your tour you will indeed be in for a great day.

Posted on 26/02/2010
We recently went on this day tour, and would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who would like to see beautiful Scotland. We were really lucky with the weather and got to see some amazing sites. Our tour guide was friendly and hilarious, so we had a good laugh as well. We learned a lot about Scotland and we would definitely be back! Thanks Mac ;)

Hi, I hope Helen, our tour guide can see this message :) The trip was amazingly great! It was very lucky to have the guide who was very proud of her country and her job as well. I still remember a lot of things u told us during the trip. (Such as Mary's tragic story, Scottish traditional food Haggis, Robert Burns , and other stories and history of scotland) I love Scotland thanks to your kind and good guide. I hope to visit Scotland again some day!! I really miss u, Helen.

Our one day tour of Loch Ness, Glencoe and the Highlands was fabulous!! The scenery was majestic and we learnt so much about Scotland's history. Ali was a wealth of knowledge and could tell a very good story too. I highly reccomend the tour, a fun day out and an easy way to experience a beautiful part of Scotland... Nae bother!

My fiance, her sister and I took a break from our dental clinic abroad (dentalholiday.co.uk) to tour wonderful Scotland.

Posted on 20/01/2010
We did this tour on 30th December. Our Driver's name was Pete. He was fabulous and kept us well informed on all the stops and places of interest along the way. There was a lot of snow and at one point we did have to help him get the bus mobile again but that added to the fun. We really enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an informative and enjoyable day. It was good to get back into the warm bus and a pleasure to travel in such a comfortable vehicle. As the group was small there were no delays waiting for people like you often get on larger tours. Many thanks to Rabbie's and Pete for helping to make our holiday perfect.

Posted on 19/01/2010
I was a bit worried booking this tour as I thought we wouldn't be able to see much during the winter but when I went on the tour on 15 Jan 10, it was brilliant. Although the skies were gray, the scenery was awesome, snow covered fields and mountains, frozen lakes and waterfalls. For a person who have lived in a warm country all her life, it was really interesting. John, our guide, made stops along the way, which was enjoyable. It gave us a chance to take in the sights, stretch our legs, take photos. It made the trip less tiring, more interesting. I now would like to see the highlands in the summer.

Posted on 16/01/2010
We were a bit nervous about the tour on the 8th January 2010 because of the snow and the news reports basically saying "if it's not a life and death situation, DON'T attempt to travel anywhere" We turned up anyway and are so glad that we did! There were 8 of us travelling on our tour which was brilliant, as it meant that we could spread out and get really comfortable. The coach was top notch, large enough to accommodate us and all our belongings, whilst being small enough to enable stop-offs at places a larger coach wouldn't have been able to access. Our tour guide was John, and he was an absolute delight to travel with, funny, friendly and with a wealth of knowledge under his belt, he really made the trip something to remember. Words cannot even begin to describe just how breathtaking the scenery was on the tour; this was the first time my husband and I had visited Scotland, and we wanted to cram in as much of the place as possible in a short amount of time - this tour suited our needs perfectly and we were amazed by how much we were able to visit in one day - without feeling rushed, or that we'd missed out on anything. I'm a keen amateur photographer, and so for me, this trip was amazing! There were loads of opportunities to stop and take photographs but I would also recommend using a polarising filter on your camera if possible - that way you can take pictures from the coach whilst travelling inbetween destinations, without getting relections from the windows of the vehicle in your pictures. There are so many, many things I could say about the whole wonderful experience but I'd literally be here for hours - suffice to say, don't hesitate to book with these guys, they are uber professional, friendly and know what they are doing - I wouldn't book a tour with anyone else!

A snowy tour made the Highlands look fantastic. Ally our tour guide was fantastic fun - enthusiastic and totally undaunted by the snowstorm! Great!

Posted on 26/12/2009
First we booked the „Highland Locks, Glens and Whisky“ one-day tour . We had such a good time and were so impressed by the countryside and our tour guide´s knowledge that we booked a second tour a few days later. It was the „Loch Ness Tour, Glen Coe and the Highlands“ tour (after having made sure that we would have the same tour guide: Bob). We sure didn´t regret it! Bob not only told us very interesting tales about the history of Scotland, but also about the Scotland of today. His whole demeanor, his kindness as well as his clear rules for our comfort as well as for the environment made the day trip a thoroughly enjoyable one. Rabbies really mean it when they say „Our driver/ guides are passionate ambassadors for Scotland and are proud of what their country can offer you“ ! Thank you, Bob! So if you prefer small group tours and a passionate tour guide, choose one of the Rabbies tours! Highly recommended!

It was an excellent tour from beginning to end. I loved the Highlands; it was a wonderful day with beautiful landscape. I will defiantly go back to Scotland and I will take a Rabbie’s tour again. My tour guide Ralph was awesome, very funny with great stories.

I like to thank you to the president of Rabbie's. Thank you for hiring fun engaging staffs who enjoy serving customers. It has been such a wonderful moment of my life and quite impressive quality of service that I received. My tour guide/driver was David on October 22nd and it was only day we had a beautiful sunny day out of the whole week. Special thanks to David to make my time so memorable in Scotland. Keep up the good work everyone!!!! Ginger from Orlando, FL

It was the best day in rainy, windy, cloudy, and flooded Scotland we could ever imagine. We HAD to watch "Maid of Honour" the day we came back home from Scotland, thanks to our tour guide Ali :) Tanks to Angela for NOT making us walk in the pooring rain along the Loch Lomond on our Stirling Castle tour next day, and thanks to Ali for making us walk in the pooring rain at the cemetary in the middle of nowhere a day before :) Cheers We'll be back Olya and Daniel

First of all, we would like to say a big thank you to John, our tour guide, who did an outstanding job in taking us around to all the fantastic places in Highland while playing us his fantastic collection of Scotish and Irish songs!! We had a fantastic time and had a really really unforgettable day. The scenery was absolutely amazing, the photos were all 'poster' quality! We will definitely come back and use Rabbie's again! My family and I had a great time driving around the Scottish highlands with Rabbie's. The scenery was breathtaking, the music that was played fit the mood perfectly and our tour guide David was fantastic. He was so witty, and had so much knowledge and stories to share with us. It was definitely a highlight of our trip to Scotland. I highly recommend it. Ask for David as well! (I know I was supposed to post these pictures sooner, David, but better late than never, right? Thanks for a wonderful time, once again!)

Hi All!! I went on the Loch Ness tour today and I absolutely loved it. Our tour guide was Angela and she was so amazing with all her local knowledge, and stories. She also stopped at great spots for photographs and even lead us up for the best viewpoints available. Our trip was complete with Scottish Music which made the whole trip seem so much more local. A great time was had by all. Thanks a lot!!

Hey! Just wanted to say that I had a fantastic day tour with Rabbies. My tour guide David Campbell was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, even though our group was a tad dull at times. I would recommend this tour and be sure to ask for Dvaid.

Hi there, My Dad visited me in Glasgow from Abu Dhabi, UAE on 16/10/2009. The 1st thing he said when he arrived here is "I want to see the Scottish Highlands. Arrange me a day trip!". So, we went to the Scottish Tourism Board near George Square. After rambling over brochures, Rabbie's was the only tour operator available. We didn't have any other choice. We booked for the 1 day tour on 17/10/2009. Good Lord! We never expected it will be such an awesome trip. Our tour guide was Mr. David Marshall Campbell. He is a man of wit and humor. I loved each and every minute of our trip and so my Dad. And, if you are planning for the road trip, make sure David is your tour guide. He will definitely make your trip fun and amusing.

Hi, Mac, I'd like to thank you for the fabulous tour! I was quite intrigued with all of your knowledge about the Scottish history. You got a little surprised when you've learnt I was from Rio de Janeiro, since you've lived here for a few months and could speak some good portuguese. We even chatted in portuguese! You are a fabulous tour guide and helped us create a memory we will always remember. Thanks so much. Danielle Lima

I booked my tour as a birthday gift (18th Oct) to myself and I'm so glad I did. Pete's commentary and banter was entertaining and educational; also loved the Scottish history! Would highly recommend this tour to anyone wishing to sit back, relax while absorbing Scotland's beauty! Thanks again!

Triss, Sarah(our daughter) and I took this tour under the guidance of Helen MacN.. We must say the time spent with her was delightful, informative and very well done. She was informative, humorous and considerate. She gave us a wonderful talk about Haggis, which, after eating it three times, I must agree. Now if I could find it in the states. We had a connection with her in that she had spent time in the states and had been some places we have been. I have enclosed a picture of her cooling her feet after running the clutch and other pedals all moring. (could you see that she gets a copy?) Theodore Harwood M.D.

A note to say that John was a terrific tour guide and driver on my trip--accommodating, informed, and he played excellent Celtic music CDs that added to the experience. His great personality set the tone for a friendly group feeling and a beautiful and memorable day in Bonny Scotland.

Hi to everyone! Just wanted to say that i had an amazing tour towards the Highlands! It was fantastic!!!!! Moreover, i was impressed with our tour guide Mac, who knew everything about every single place we have passed through!!! I am amazed how much knowledge he had of the Scottish History and culture. Highly Recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PS. I knew a little about the Scottish history, but now, thanks to Mac i would like to know more. I loved to know the details about the different clans. Mac told me some books i could read, but unfortunately i didn't write the names down, could anyone recommend me some books?

Thank you for a very enjoyable tour. Eddie was our driver and he was brilliant. Made it interesting for every minute with his knowledge. His infectious sense of humour and down to earth style made the day. Definately will recommend your company where ever we can. Thanks again.

I took the tour on August 24th and have to say that it was a highlight of my visit to Scotland, back after 16 years in Canada. Angela did an amazing job and is a font of information regarding Scottish history, traditions and little known facts. Thanks for a great day.

We drove on 24.08.09 with Jeff to Loch Ness from Edinburgh. After having some Problems to find the agency, we had a very good tour! Jeff explained all the interesting and beautifull things in an easy understanding english! We recognisted, that he loves his country and enjoys it, to show his country to us visitors. Thank you very much, the Germans ;-) Kerstin

At the beginning of August, I went to Scotland for the third time. Everytime I went there, I came with different friends and I wanted to show them a few things. One off them was a trip to Lochness by doing RABBIE's 1 day trip to that location. I did my first two trips/tours a few years ago and regularly adviced friends who would go to RABBIE'S. This year, I got married and wanted to take my wife to take this tour... What a terrible mistake. The overall tour's quality has decreased a LOT. One of the most noticeable point was the fact that there used to be ONE bus driver and ONE guide commenting, etc. Now, there's only ONE person who acts as a bus driver AND guide. This person almost never talked (or only on seldom occasions), really didn't care about people on the bus and spent most of the day putting music very loud (it really felt like taking public transportation) RABBIE'S used to be the best of the Scotland's tour I ever used... but not anymore. You lost a customer (and many other potential ones)

I just wanted to make it known that Helen is a fantastic tour guide -- confident and insightful, she knows how to entertain and educate simultaneously. Listening to Burns poetry, learning how to make haggis, and getting all the facts about everything from William Wallace to clan warfare pushed this tour above and beyond. Thank you, Helen, for showing us the beauty of Scotland and giving us a taste of the friendly and enthusiastic Scottish people. Cheers!

I'm sorry to say it was the worst trip of my life! Uninteresting comments and places, though we didn't stop in the gorgeous landscapes we saw from the bus, the guide/driver was attentive to his passengers comfort, never bothered to give informations (like: better than the awful self-service cafeteria in Saint Augusta, passengers could eat quietly and much better at the Loch Ness 40 minuts later). From 8.30 to 8.00pm, sitting at the rear which means higher seats and my head at 40cm from the speakers and air con, I had to endure is music and the worst headache of my entire life... Not worth the money AND the boredom.... His name is **** (name removed for reasons of privacy) and I did this trip on the 13nd of august.....

We just want to say thank you for the great experience we had seeing Loch Ness, Glencoe and the Highlands. This experience would not have been as enjoyable without John's genuine humour, knowledge, hospitality and enthusiasm. His personable nature created a very relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. We really appreciated the sincerity that John lent to the trip. Big shout out to John! Thanks for the great ride!!

First; I want to point out that I am an American fortunate to have lived in Europe for nine years. My family and I have visited almost every major city within Europe and been on countless tours. That said; I have no reservations about saying that our tour guide David and the tour of the Scottish Highlands has been the highlight of the past nine years. David was not only a brilliant guide he went out of his way to make sure he accomodated everyone on the tour. If anyone is thinking about taking a tour with Rabbies; I would highly recommend...the best I have ever used. All the awards and recognition they have recieved are very well deserved. Only downside of our 4th of August Highland tour was the obnoxious "Jersey Girl" that simply could not be pleased... David; thanks for memories that will last a lifetime. Sincerely; Your Kilted American Friend: Moose

What a breathtaking tour, but the highlight and the main fun of our trip was the driver Dave. Who ever said you cant leave a Englishman and a Scottsman in the same room without violence...well, i cant remember but i can honestly say Dave, you can trust me to never hit you in the back of your head! :). Thankyou for a wonderful tour mate, you went out of your way to make everyone feel welcome, your history was top notch, and you made the journey and my experience un forgetting. As soon as i get the pic of me and you ill post it. When i come back to Scotland for another tour, ill ask for you directly, hehehe. Thanks Rabbies for an wonderful day, Daves a diamond!

I would without question recommend this tour to everyone who wants a glimpse of the Highlands. It was a jam packed and fun day. Thanks for holding off the rain as well. Also, want to thank Rabbies overall for (1) putting the family with girl same as as my daughter on our bus - they were instant friends and (2) for selflishly recommending the day on our own at the Seabird Center at North Berwick - it was spectacular!

We took 1 day tour to Glencoe, Loch Ness and highlands. We were fortunate to have Helen as our tour guide. It was an excellent experience exploring scotland highlands with Rabbies. Definitely we would like take one more tour with Rabbies, preferably Helen as our tour guide. Her history knowledge is tremendous!!! 1 small suggestion, since Scotland has lot landscapes, it would be great if you could add some more photo stops!!!

I arrived in Glasgow on June 22nd and visited the Tourist Office on George Street. I happened across the Rabbies brochure there, along with many other information pamphlets. My travelling partner and I opted for the smaller tour groups offered by Rabbies, and in hindsight are pleased that we did just that. We boarded the tour bus bright and early on Tuesday morning, along with 4 other passengers: 6 of us altogether. There were 2 gentlemen from India, two ladies from France, my friend from the USA, and myself (Canadian). Our tour guide, David, was a pleasant fellow: very friendly and informative. We couldn't have asked for a better guide. We had fantastic weather that day also. My tour mates went on the Loch Ness boat cruise and quite enjoyed it. Unfortunately, we ended up behind schedule and were unable to visit Stirling Castle on our way back to Glasgow. Guess I'll have to come back...gladly. Thank you David for making our day worthwhile. My parents lived in Scotland for two years and always told me that it was the most beautiful place they had ever seen, but I was not convinced. To me Maine has always been the most beautiful place I had ever seen, until now. Even through the rain I could not take my eyes off the landscape. It was breathtaking. I am kicking myself for not booking a longer trip because one day was only a tease. Our guide Alec was informative, a great driver, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Although I fear Scotland has ruined hiking anywhere else for me, I highly recommend this trip!

Belle Écosse malgré le temps assez déplorable. Merveilleux paysages sauvages.

It was unfortunate due to a road accident up north we could not reach Loch Ness which was like the major attraction of the tour but nevertheless it was a memorable tour. The highlands are so beautiful. Our tour guide 'David' was a real nice character and he had some real interesting stories about Scottish History. I would definitely recommend this tour to others and would surely do it again.

It was a great day I had out in the Highlands on 9 May 2009. I learnt a lot about Scotland, met some nice people... I saw the Safari Park, Glencoe, had a boat trip on Loch Ness (however, couldn't see Nessie) and in the end drove on the Forth Bridge. There are some more pictures from that day.

My first day in Scotland: I had my first guided bus tour out into the Highlands. It started at 8h15 am already and breakfast was served from 7h30 on only in Adria Guesthouse. So I ordered a breakfast pack for takeaway in the B&B. Due to the construction of the tramway some roads were closed, but finally I found my way to Rabbie’s Tours office on the Royal Mile (High Street) in Edinburgh. That’s where my tour should start. I was the last one to arrive and the minicoach bus was already full. So I got the seat next to the driver and guide. That means everytime we wanted to get out of the coach, I had to get up first and this maybe 20 times that day. Anyway, this permitted me to have a chat from time to time with the guide. He was a man in his 60ies, very intelligent and with a good knowledge of Scotland, but not very communicative. Anyway, I learnt a lot during this first day: It took quite some time to leave Edinburgh. The city center is not too large, but much further away are the suburbs. A lot of people live in these wide spread areas, because living in the center is very expensive. We went out on the highway to Glasgow first. As soon as we were in the countryside, I already experienced the beauty of Scotland. We passed by Stirling and Stirling Castle, but then left the motorway and went on a country road: The landscape there was rich of forests and had a peaceful and quiet radiation on me. There was a Safari Park (whow! Lions and other wild animals in Scotland!). The story behind this adventure park was that a man had the roof of his home destroyed. As he could not have it repaired, someone suggested him to build up a Safari Park. There was the river Teeth (The saying “Stuck to the Teeth” comes from there) which we crossed over a nice bridge and on our right we saw Doune Castle. Then we passed by some farms. One owner of such a farm has the biggest cattle market in Scotland. We finally came through a town called Callander. It’s a very beautiful one and you can feel the atmosphere of Scotland. Shortly after Callander we had our first break. Some people took a first or second breakfast in a coffee bar. I met a woman from Japan; Miyuki- I had to look up the name and it was good that she wrote it on a piece of paper because such names you do not hear everyday. We had a small meal and a short chat together. Before we continued our bus tour, I took some pictures from the landscape. There was already a sign to the first “Loch” which means lake (Loch Kathrine). But the first Loch I saw came some time later- Loch Lubnaigh. The longer we were on the road the more beautiful the landscape became: We came right into the Highlands now. The first mountains and mountain chains appeared. The bus drove us on a narrow road and it always went uphill. Then suddenly there was Loch Lubnaigh on our left! – the first such Loch. The landscape changed now. It reminded me a lot of Ireland and especially Connemara, but still Scotland was different: The lakes were larger and there were a larger number of mountains, of course. Some peaks were still covered with snow which is unusual as I was told. On the other hand, the colours of the landscape in the Highlands are not so diverse as in Ireland: There are less shades of green and brown. But the few types of colours played so well together that it is like a dream to travel through this area of Scotland. Although it was raining almost the whole time, I was really amazed. Our second stop was in Killin. There is a double waterfall: 2 rivers merging together into one, both filled with wild water. These are the Falls of Drochart. We continued our tour towards Glencoe. It’s an unforgettable experience to drive right into this huge valley and then be surrounded only by mountains both on your right and on your left. We made a stop twice just to take pictures: Once I saw myself standing in front of a small, but steep waterfall. Then I once had a beautiful view into the Glencoe valley. And of course, there were more Lochs to come- the small lakes that were glaciers during the Ice Age, but melted later on and sunk into the gaps that are the Glens now (valleys). There was snow on many hills giving you the feeling you are somewhere in the Alps. Our trip continued to Fort William, a very nice fishing and boating village. Fort William stands in the shadow of the highest mountain in Great Britain: Ben Nevis. For some strange reason it was not covered with snow, or maybe not on the side that shows towards Fort William. The area that followed after that was not so nice and completely different. This was a landscape in which soldiers fought during the Second World War. There are training camps as well. Where does the word “Kommando” come from? It is well known in German, by the way and means a strict order to do something. Believe it or not- there is a “Kommando Memorial” in the Scottish Highlands, near Fort William. What does it look like? It consists of 2 soldiers carrying their weapons in their hands. The landscape changed again and became extremely beautiful again. I felt like in paradise: The land is covered with Lochs, forests and plants of all kinds and colours. I became a bit tired and could not listen to the guide. I was also about to go to sleep. But then we finally came to the famous Loch Ness. We had our lunchbreak in Fort Augustus, the town at the southern shore of Loch Ness. The guide introduced us well into this particular spot on Earth. Who believes that Nessie exists? Well, I didn’t see him, but I know what the emblem of Nessie looks like. It is like a special brand here and you can find Nessie in different variations in every souvenir shop in Scotland. As we had a 2 hours break in Fort Augustus, there was enough time to go out on the lake with a boat. There are special boat tours with guidance. It was a special feeling to sit in that vehicle and be situated right on a piece of water that is up to 183 m deep! So imagine how deep it goes from your seat. Inside the boat they displayed on a panel the shape of Loch Ness and how it would look like if it was not filled with water. It would look like a giant valley and steep mountains around on both sides. I noticed that Loch Ness is black which is no wonder if you consider the depth of the water. We were not able to sit outside as it was still raining. When we left Fort Augustus to continue towards Inverness and then through the Cairngorm Mountains National Park, the weather improved and the sun appeared several times. We passed by a tremendous water powerstation and then came onto the motorway from Inverness to Perth. From there, we turned into a smaller road where we had a break in order to see another waterfall right inside a forest. I would like to mention here that there are different kinds of trees that can live together in one space: firs, pines, oaks as well as beeches. That’s what I realised and what must be unique in the Scottish landscape. Our last stop was in Pitlochry. We had a chance to buy some souvenirs or typical food from Scotland. Then we took our last part of this long guided tour around the Highlands. However, there were still some interesting sights to view: Blair Castle and finally we drove over the huge Forth Bridge which is not far away in length from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. The Forth Bridge spans right over the river of the same name. It was built at a point where the Forth reaches out right into the sea and is already quite wide. The bridge consists of the Forth Road Bridge where the cars run and the red railway bridge. The Forth Bridge is located 5 km north of Edinburgh. From there we had already reached our destination and the end of the 11 hours lasting trip.

Scotland is beautiful and this tour allows you to see a good deal of the landscape, several small towns, and historical sights. Our Guide, Ali, helped to make this tour awesome. His passion for Scotland and its history helped the participants better connect with the tour.Ali was funny, entertaining, and polite. The tour stops frequently for pictures and breaks. I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to get the most out of their Scotland travel.

We had a fantastic time on our Loch Ness Tour. Unfortunately, we did not see Nessie. David our guide was a lot of fun and very quick witted. We thoroughly enjoyed his sense of humor as well as his wealth of knowledge. We always felt that we were in good hands with him at the wheel. We agree with your 5 star rating. Thanks David and Rabbie's! We love your country.

Thank you for a lovely tour. There were some absolute highlights, among them coming into the Highlands, seeing the grandness of Glencoe, and most importantly, our guide Tony, who, in our opinion, made the whole trip worth it, because his mixture of historical knowledge, wittily recounted, and personal anecdotes made a great part of Scotland come alive. We were, however, surprised by how much the trip was dominated by riding in the bus, as opposed to having time to take in the sights. It is, of course, a long trip to Loch Ness, but we feel that this could have been made clearer in the trip description. 5 hurried hours in a bus up there, with two small breaks, and only 90 minutes in which to look at the very tip of loch ness, where a boat trip seemed almost mandatory in order to be able to see any of the lake, followed by another five hours back, was not quite what we imagined. It would have been wonderful, had there been time to slow down the bus a bit once in a while, so that we could have a chance to glimpse all the interesting sights pointed out to us before they were gone again. We also felt that it would be better to make the few rests we had along the way in places where we didn't have to fight for space with 10 other buses loaded with tourists. Glencoe is beautiful - the bagpiper wasn't! And why stop at a super crowded café/shop, with long lines, when there was an almost identical, and empty one, right next to it? Had we known this we would probably have chosen a trip with a much shorter route, so that most of the trip wasn't dominated by being rattled around in the bus. But again - great big thumbs up for Tony and his (hi)stories. They were what made the trip in the end - that and seeing Glencoe.

We were also very fortunate to have a guide like Mac, who really did everything to make this trip memorable for us. A great story-teller and a lovely person! I look forward to going back to see more of the Highlands on a longer trip with your travel agency, hopefully with Mac!

Thanks to Bob (our driver and guide for the day) for giving us such a good insight into the history of the area and also for his good humour. It was a long day, but we both thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend this tour to others. We would like to come back to this area and maybe do one of the longer tours with Rabbies!!.

We were a large group and booking the tour wasn't easy, but Suu made sure we could make it and for that I thank her (you're great!). The tour was amasing and our guide the best ever, giving us insights into the scottish humor in a manner we'll never forget. I'll forever treasure this memories...thank you very much!

Helen was BY FAR the most passionate and informative tour guide I've ever seen - please keep in mind this is coming from someone who travels frequently. It's so rare and refreshing to have a host who genuinely cares about every little detail of the trip. I don't think we could have had a better guide.

The guide Ally was absolutely fantastic! He is a great storyteller with great stories to tell. And he scheduled an extra stop at Loch Lochy because, as we drove by, he saw how mirror-smooth & clear the water was. A perfect and fun photo stop.

Our Guide, Peter knew when to let us take in the scenery in silence and when to tell us a tale or some background info on a location. Coming from a tour guiding family I have to say this was the most enjoyable tour I have been on.

Posted on 09/01/2010
Our driver was enjoyable b/c she didn't just talk about the normal everyday things. She made it personal and it was more enjoyable b/c of that. The weather was not the best, but being in snow and cold, it was very beautiful and 'I' didn't have to drive it! ;)

Our guide really made the history come alive. It was very easy to imagine all the Highland history. The entire tour was wonderful. We especially appreciated the stop at the Commando Memorial.

As we left Lochness it started to snow and I got to get out of the bus and take lots of photos, to the awe of other passengers it was my first time to see snow so it was an added bonus :)

I loved all of it but the Scottish Highlands are just stunning! Our tour guide Andrew was brilliant - he couldn't have been more friendly and knows sooooo much about the lovely land of Scotland! I will recommend you to everyone I know.

I liked that the tours were in a 16 passenger bus rather than a giant coach. I also appreciated that we made a good amount of stops along the way to take a break and to see sights. AND the guides were great!!!!!!

Great size of tour - not too big. Really enjoyed Fort Augustus and Pitlochry. Good commentary.

The tour guide we had was phenomenal! He knew a lot about the history and was very good about stopping for pics along the way. Very good trip and have recommended this trip to friends who will be taking it in a few weeks.
