5 Days 4 Islands - Scotland At Its Best!! Enjoy the magic, ancient history and the undisturbed tranquility of the islands of Mull, Iona and Staffa and the romantic beauty of the Isle of Skye.

Day 1 takes you north passed Stirling castle, and then west to Scotland's first National Park around Loch Lomond, and the bonny banks". You will travel through the impressive mountains of the West Highlands through the magnificent white-washed 18th Century town of Inveraray, home to the Campbell Clan and the Duke of Argyll. The afternoon will be spent in the heart of Argyll exploring the area close to the ancient Kingdom of Dalriada before arriving in bustling town of Oban, the gateway to the islands, for your 2 night stay.

Day 2 is an early start crossing on the ferry to Mull and enjoying an island adventure exploring her dramatic coastlines and wild beauty, before taking the small ferry to the peace and tranquility of Iona - birthplace of Celtic Christianity and ancient burial ground of Scottish Kings. Here you can visit the historic abbey with its intricate carved crosses in the churchyard or explore the rocky headlands and sandy coves of this island gem. There is also an opportunity to take a small boat out to the island of Staffa (except Saturday departures in September) and view the dramatic basalt columns immortalised by Mendelssohn in his Hebridean Overture "Fingal's Cave". You then return on the ferry to Oban for your second night.

Day 3 takes you north along the west coast around Appin, passing the impregnable Castle Stalker, and Glencoe, scene of the infamous massacre of the Clan Macdonald in 1692. You then pass through Fort William and up to the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge with great views over Ben Nevis, Britain's highest montain. Your tour now takes the "Road to the Isles" through the splendour of the Five Sisters of Kintail, the mountains guarding the pass on the way to the Isle of Skye. You stop to visit the famous stronghold Eilean Donan Castle, used in the film "Highlander", set at the junction of 3 lochs as protection against Viking raiders. Crossing over the sea to Skye, you travel up to the picturesque harbour town of Portree. You are then dropped off at your accommodation in the early evening, where you are free to go out and explore the town.

Day 4is a very flexible day on Skye. There are many possibilities depending on the weather and we take passengers preferences into account. For example : Travel north to the stunning Quiraing mountain pass and enjoy a spectacular walk through some of Skye's extraordinary geological scenery, visit Kilt Rock, composed of basalt columns (reminiscent of the pleats in a kilt) with it's waterfall cascading over the cliffs and down into the sea below. After lunch you can go over to Neist Point for a walk out to the lighthouse that is the furthest point west on Skye. Or go over to Dunvegan Castle, ancient ancestral seat of the Clan McLeod. Talisker Distillery is also here, as are the famous Cuillin Hills. We return you to your accommodation in Portree in the early evening for you to enjoy your second free night in Portree.

Day 5 You will be collected from your accommodation and travel south through the Cuillin Hills and back over to the mainland for stunning views over Loch Duich and the 5 Sisters of Kintail. Onto Loch Ness for lunch and the possibility of spotting "Nessie". There is a boat trip (Summer only) available here that will get you that bit closer! Heading south now through the Grampian mountains along Loch Laggan, made famous now as "Monarch of the Glen Country" before passing Dawhinnie, home to Scotland's highest whisky Distillery, and onwards into Perthshire where we stop for refreshments before heading back to Edinburgh past Perth and over the Forth Road Bridge. Arriving at 19.00 approx.

We have done many tours in Canada and Europe over the last five years and have just completed the Rabbies Iona, Mull and Isle of Skye 5 day tour from Edinburgh with Eric as our Tour Guide and driver. We had high expectations having heard of Rabbies reputation beforehand, and we must say that the tour far exceeded our expectations. Eric’s vast knowledge of, and his deep passion for Scotland came to light through his excellent commentary and singing during the entire tour. Eric transformed a memorable tour for us into a remarkable experience with memories that we will treasure for many years. Thank you Rabbies for providing a great tour and a special thanks to Eric for sharing his Scotland with us. Ron and Beryl Gatt Australia

Just returned from the 5day trip above. Couldn't have asked for more. It was absolutely wonderful. Eddie was the epitomy of knowledge and kindness and extremely versed in the history of Scotland. The way he tells the stories was brilliant and humourous as well. Thanks to everyone on the bus and especially Eddie for making this trip such a success.

Hey Rabbies. By the looks of this blog Rabbies is getting big love from all over, and for good reason - the trip was fantastic! The highlands trip is greeet and highly recommended. I can't wait to go back. But I also wanted to say a big thanks to Eddie who made the trip even better than it already was. Not sure if its a Scottish trait or just an "Eddie-ism" - but Eddies knowledge of the Scots and their history plus story telling was beyond what I would have ever expected from a tour guide. Give this guy a raise - he's golden!!! Till next time..........

During our stay in Scotland we took 3 tours with Rabbie's. Our guides were Kenny, Eric and Angela. They were excellent and gave us a tremendous background to our own Scottish heritage and showed their great love and passion for their country. It brought the whole scene to life for us. We would especially like to thank Angela for her 5 days and her great commentaries and stories. We would like to return to do the Orkney Islands Tour and the Lakes District and York - maybe 2011??

Posted on 14/05/2010
Great tour with a lot of beautiful spot with Angela! Thanks a lot! Anita

I took the Iona, Mull and Skye 5 day tour and it was wonderful. Since some of my ancestors immigrated from the Isle of Mull to North Carolina in the early 1820's, I was very excited about seeing the area. I always assumed I got my love of gardening from my Dad, but now I think it is a gene that goes back for generations on his side. Richard was our guide and he made several extra stops and was very accommodating. Thanks Richard for the tour and especially for the lovely CD!

Better late than never! We've been on a 5-day tour to Skye in July with Eddie the Entertainer and just want to say THANK YOU for the best tour ever. Thank's for the stories, the breathtaking landscapes, your care and your patience. Hope you'll be our guide again next year. Susanne & Niclas from Germany

Emily and myself were recently in Scotland. We did a number of tours with Rabbie's all of which were wonderful. I would escpecially like to thank Sue who took us to the inner Hebrides. Her storytelling and outgoing manner alone made the trip worthwhile! We also toured with Helen to St Andrews who was likewise a fount of knowledge. Finally, we really enjoyed the love and passion for Scotland that all the guides portrayed. Well done Rabbies - we will be back!

We had a truly great time in this trip. The breathtaking Highland landscape, the beautiful islands and especially the walk in Neist Point made this trip unforgettable. Above all, having Suu as our guide was the best thing in this tour. She is friendly, funny, knowledgeable, experienced and a great driver. Thank you so much Suu - you made all the difference. We would highly recommend Rabbie's, and we will definitely join again - hope to have you as our guide again Suu.

Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Suu the guide and driver was extra special with her stories, knowledge of the history of Scotland, her entertainment and careful driving. She looked after us all the time. We were very pleased with the landscape in the Highlands and fortunately for us, the weather was better than we expected. Before deciding on Rabbie's Tours we compared 4 companies and, after the fact, were delighted with our selection. If the other guides working for the Company are half as good as she was, the Company is a first class winner. Thanks for the experience.

What a fabulous time we had...our introduction to beautiful Scotland was made possible thru nature (we had glorious weather) and Andrew....the most wonderful tour guide. We are talking about our next trip to Scotland and we would love to request Andrew as our guide, if possible, of course. Thank you for our memorable vacation.

My thanks to rabbies & Suu for a trip of a lifetime!! The knowledge Suu has of the history & the sheer beauty of the country was amazing. Oh Suu you made the trip enjoyable with the verbal ping pong that you & i had going. rabbies i was impressed with the hassle free trip and to the others in our group thank you for being so gracious.

We have nothing but good to say about Rabbie's after taking this tour. Our driver Eddie was superb. A great guy who really knew how to make his group happy. He was flexible and allowed us to set the pace where possible. His stories and comments made the trip that much more memorable. For those of you trying to decide on whether to take a trip with Rabbie's - JUST DO IT - you won't be sorry. We most certainly are not. It was the highlight of our two week trip. Cheers, Chris and Mel

It was all fabulous - we covered so many beautiful places that would have been impossible to achieve on our own and Sue was an entertainment in herself and a fountain of knowledge and information.

Posted on 25/08/2009
This trip far exceeded my expectations especially the tour guide Ed, he went out of his way to help me when I needed to get to the airport for the last flight out of Edinburgh. I had only heard good things about Rabbies tours and they were true, Thank you.

Visiting the sights and sounds of Iona and Skye, and enjoying the company of Suu, our guide. Suu is a treasure and a delight to know. She made the trip an overwhelming success. If we were to return to Scotland, we would want to make sure any tour we took with Rabbies had Suu as the guide.

The tour was the most wunderful tour in my life. Sue is great and my husband and I are very happy about all: the landscape, the tour, the music and the commentary. I know now a bit more about the magical Scotland and about his history. If you want I can write a little notes on Italian for the website. I recommend your tour highly.
