1. Do you pick up from hotels?
No we don't. Edinburgh's historic city centre was not designed for quick road journeys! So to speed up your departure from the city we have a central meeting point at 207 High Street/ Royal Mile. The local bus service is excellent with frequent buses to the centre of town. Information on routes and timetables can be found at www.lothianbuses.co.uk
2. What is the age range on your tours?
From 5 yrs to 80 years young! But the majority are 25 to 65.
3. Are there stops on the tour?
We want you to enjoy the Highlands as much as possible, and we believe the best way to do this is to get you off the bus as often as we can.
4. Do we need to bring our own lunch?
It's not necessary, however, you can if you wish. We will either stop in small Highland villages, where you can choose where you eat, or country family run establishments where there is a choice to suit all budgets. These places are always chosen for their charm and character to give you a taste of Highland hospitality.
5. What is included in the price?
The tour, all taxes, ferries and tolls and the services of one of our passionate driver/guides, who pride themselves on being ambassadors for their country.
6. Do you have tours in winter?
We run tours all year round and of course travelling in winter can be the most spectacular time to visit Scotland - snow capped hills, clear blue skies and the odd bit of rain!
7. What is the best tour?
The tours are designed to appeal to different tastes so please read the itineraries carefully, but if you are in any doubt please tell us your interests and we will be happy to recommend the tour that will suit you best.
8. Are there plenty of walks?
Yes and we pride ourselves on giving you opportunities to really experience the fresh Highland air and the beautiful scenery from outside the bus.
9. How much luggage can we carry on the tours?
We ask that you keep the luggage that you carry on the tours to 1 piece because space is limited.
10. Where can we park our own car?
There are car parks nearby, but we recommend you do not bring your car into the centre of Edinburgh. Waverley Train Station and St Andrews Square bus station are only 5 minutes walk from our base on the High Street.
Accommodation FAQ's
1. Does the tour price include accommodation?
No, but this gives you the freedom to choose your budget and the type of accommodation that you wish to stay in and we will book it for you - Hostel, B&B or hotel. Please refer to our booking page for guides to the cost of accommodation.
2. How is accommodation arranged on overnight tours?
You tell us what kind of accommodation you would like. We book it. Your driver/guide takes you there and drops you off on the tour, and in the morning he or she picks you up from your accommodation. You pay direct to your accommodation host.
3. What facilities are provided by youth hostels?
Fresh bed linen is provided, so no need to bring a sleeping bag. All you need to bring is your own towel for showering. Hostels generally have very well equipped self-catering kitchens for all your cooking requirements. Cookers, microwaves, fridges and all the pots and pans you will need.
4. What is meant by ensuite?
The bath/shower and toilet room is within the bedroom.
